You Let Him Go

A/N: This is the story Loulee was created in. It's sad but has a cute ending.

Zoro came home from work cocking open a beer and sitting at the couch. Flipping on the TV. Zoro sighed in relaxation.

"You shitty low life swordsmen!" Sanji snarled.

Zoro turned to the blonde fumming waking down the stairs.

"You were supposed to be here! I told you to be here at five o'clock for your daughters birthday! I would of accepted you if you were two or three hours late! But six?! Zoro you uncultured swine! I was even in bed! Do you even care about this family!" Sanji snapped.

Zoro snapped shutting off the TV and getting up.

"Where the hell do you think your going?! I'm not done with you!"

Zoro grabbed Sanji by the neck pinning him to the wall. Both eyes dark and menacing.

"How dare you tell me I don't care about this family! I care for you and our daughter more then the skin on my back! I was working late sorry I couldn't be there okay! I fucking don't deserve this bullshit from you!" Zoro Spat, "I work hard so that you can live in his house and have a beautiful daughter!"

As Zoro realized what he was doing he backed off.

"If you don't like the way I care of this family then leave!" Sanji snapped.

Zoro growled grabbing his bag and leaving the house with a loud slam. Sanji rubbed his neck, Zoro wouldn't hurt Sanji out of anger. Sanji sighed sinking to the floor hearing the car engine ignite and drive off with a screeching noise.

"Daddy? I had a nightmare." Loulee said.

Sanji looked up to the little girl looking down to him from between the railing.

"Where's dad? He didn't tell me happy birthday." She said.

"I know sweetheart, I will be up in a minute." Sanji said.

She hopped down the stairs, and stood before her dad.

"Why are you sad?" She asked.

"I made your dad very mad and he went away." Sanji said.

"Dad doesn't stay mad for long. He will come back I know it."

Sanji smiled hugging his daughter, "Your right."

She hugged him back, Sanji picked her up and took her back to her room. Flicking on the light and putting her to bed.

"Did you have a good birthday?" Sanji asked.

She nodded, "Yeah, but can I talk to dad?"

"I don't know if he will answer." Sanji said.

"I'll talk to him."

Sanji sighed going to the hallway plucking the phone from its spot. And dialing Zoro's number. He walked to the bedroom and handed Loulee the phone. She pressed it to her ear she was smiling as the phone rang. But soon began to fade when it just kept ringing. Then went to voicemail.

"Hey Dad, I just wanted to talk to you. I love you. Daddy and I miss you, I wish you could come home." Loulee said.

She handed Sanji the phone and he hung up. Loulee sniffled, Sanji frowned at the girl.

"Awe don't be like that, why don't you come sleep with Daddy tonight? Would that make you feel better?" Sanji asked.

She smiled and nodded, Sanji took her hand as she grabbed the big green tiger. They walked into Sanji and Zoro's room. Loulee jumped up onto there bed and sunk into the feather comforter. She laughed and then fell asleep. Just like Zoro, she was passed his weird sleeping habits. Sanji hung in the doorway waiting for Zoro to come out of the shower. But, he wasn't there Sanji smelt that husky spice of Zoro in his room and the light smell of his cologne. Sanji sighed looking at the bathroom door then went to his bed. Crawling in and listened to his snoring daughter. Maybe Zoro would forgive him in the morning.

"Dad!" Loulee cried.

Sanji lazily half asleep sat up as Loulee attacked the green haired man. Sanji rubbed his eyes seeing the smiling Zoro holding his daughter.

"Sorry I didn't call you back last night. I was driving." Zoro smiled.

"Zoro your back." Sanji yawned.

His eyes narrowed to the cook, Zoro felt a piece of him die.

"Um, come down stairs I want to talk to you about something." Zoro said.

Loulee smiled hopping down and going down stairs.

"Grandpa's!" She cried.

Sanji's eyes widened and furrowed at Zoro.

"Why is my dad here? Yet alone your dad?" Sanji asked.

"Just go down stairs." Zoro said.

Sanji flicked the blanket off and got up.

"Zoro what the hell is going on?" Sanji asked.

"Sanji just go down stairs."

"You used my name, my real name." Sanji said walking up to him. "What the hell is going on?!"

"I want a divorce!" Zoro spat.

Sanji froze, "Wh-what? What the hell did you just say?"

Zoro growled pulling out the papers. His name was stained onto the page.

"You heard me! I want a divorce!" Zoro snapped.

Sanji snapped the papers from his hands.

"Like hell in signing these!" Sanji said.

Zoro grabbed his wrist and pulled him over his shoulder. Sanji punched and kicked throwing a fit.

"Put me down! I am not signing these papers!" Sanji said.

Zoro set him on the couch next to Zeff. Loulee was going around in Mihawks hat and Zeffs ascot. Zoro sat on the other side of the couch with his father. Sanji stood up.

"Like hell I'll sign this! I am not divorcing you!" Sanji snapped.

"If you don't I'll take Loulee." Zoro said.

"Roronoa, you can't be serious. You might regret it." Mihawk said.

"I was brought here for another one of your fights?" Zeff asked.

"This moss headed idiot wants to get a divorce! I am not signing these papers Zoro!" Sanji spat tossing the papers on the coffee table.

Zeff took the papers and Mihawk moved to get a better look at the papers.

"You think our daughter would want to grow up thinking it's okay for her to fight with her spouse?!" Zoro snapped.

"We don't fight! We argue! There's a difference! You think our daughter wants to grow up living between to houses!"

"Our daughter needs a mother! We never grew up with one! But she's a girl! Girls raise girls, boys raise boys!"

"Both of you stop it!" Zeff said.

But Zoro and Sanji pressed foreheads together spitting ugly words to each other.

"Stop it!" Loulee cried.

Zoro and Sanji snapped out of there hate and turned to the little girl. Her eyes full of tears.

"Why are you yelling at each other? Why is granpas here? I don't understand!"

Sanji took a knee, "I will tell you later, it's complicated."

"I can understand! Tell me!"

Zoro sat down, "Well, your dad and I are going through some complications. And your dad won't cooperate."

"I'm not the bad guy you are! Your the one who wants to leave this family!" Sanji snapped.

Loulee's eyes widened and backed up, "You don't love me anymore?"

"Of course I love you. Why would you think that?"

"Because a mommy would be better for me then you?!"

Sanji smacked him upside the head, "He doesn't mean it sweetheart. He doesn't think before he speaks. He still wants to be your dad but just not with me anymore."

Loulee hiccuped in her crying, "You don't love my daddy anymore?!"

Zoro didn't say anything, Sanji sighed.

"Of course he do-"

"No I don't." Zoro said.

It pained Zoro to have that lie roll on his tongue. Sanji's eyes widened, as his heart broke. Mihawk sighed whispering things into Zeffs ear. Mihawk got up grabbing Zoro and taking him out of the room.

"Give me the papers." Sanji said.

"What?" Zeff asked.

"Give me the bloody papers." Sanji said.

"Your going to let his nonsense get to you?"

"If it's a lie he won't turn it in."

Zeff handed Sanji the papers, taking the pen and signing his name. Sanji got up and got to the door opening it to find Mihawk strangling Zoro with his words. Sanji threw the papers on the deck.

"There! It's signed! I'll be staying with my dad. You can have Loulee until I find a house." Sanji said.

Shutting the door and going upstairs, Sanji grabbed some of his suits and tossed his wedding ring on the bed.

"Old man! We're leaving!" Sanji called.

Loulee ran upstairs clinging onto her dads leg trying to have him stay. But Sanji was unaffected by her. Sanji walked outside with Loulee still clung to his leg. Zeff sighed following behind and helped open the door. Mihawk was scolding Zoro, Loulee got off and tugged his father's pants.

"Don't let daddy go!" She cried.

Zoro sighed picking up the girl. And putting her on his hip. He watched as he stuffed Zeffs car with his clothes.

"Go say goodbye to your dad." Zoro said.

He put Loulee down and she trotted over to Sanji. He hugged her as tight as he could.

"I will find a place for you to come over whenever you want. Okay?" Sanji asked.

"Don't go." She said.

He pulled back looking at her, "I have to, your Dad doesn't love me anymore. It hurt me pretty bad."

"He didn't mean it I know it."

"I want to hear it from his lips."

Sanji kissed her forehead and set her down. She backed up and Sanji got in the car.

"Good luck raising a daughter as a single father." Mihawk sighed.

They pulled out and out of the neighborhood. Loulee started to cry standing there, and no one slept well that night. It's been a month. The divorce papers sat under a pile of junk mail. Zoro lied in bed looking at the smaller ring. His face broken out in whiskers, he wasn't well. Nor was his daughter, she would do the same but lie looking at there wedding photo. They looked so happy in the picture. Loulee crawled out of bed with the picture frame clutched to her chest going out of her room. She went to Zoro's and knocked on the door.

"Come in." Zoro said.

Loulee opened the door and walked in.

"How did you take that photo off the wall. It's too high for you to reach." Zoro asked.

"I used a broom." She said.

Zoro chuckled, "You okay?"

She shook her head climbing into the bed. Loulee snuggled up to Zoro sheading a few tears.

"I want to see Daddy. Why would you make him leave?" She sniffled.

"Because, I was dumb. I didn't know how much your dad meant to me until I lost him. I'm sorry Loulee." Zoro said.

She petted his face, "Your face is pokey."

Zoro chuckled rubbing his face on his daughters hand. She laughed at the tickling under her hand. Zoro lifted up her shirt rubbing his whiskers on her face. The room was filled with laughter of Loulee's laughs.

"How about we go pay a visit to your dad?" Zoro asked.

Loulee gasped and nodded, Zoro chuckled. But there was a soft knock on the door. Zoro grabbed Loulee and threw her over his shoulder having her giggle but the knock persisted. Zoro walked down stairs with Loulee on his shoulder. Opening the door to find Sanji, he didn't look well. At all. He looked very tired and unwell.

"Sanji." Zoro muttered.

"I just came for the rest of my things." Sanji said.

Loulee scrambled from Zoro's shoulder and Sanji greeted the girl with a smile and hug. Loulee hung onto him for dear life. She wasn't going to let him go, Sanji placed her on his hip as he walked in.

"Daddy can you cook us a meal? We miss your cooking." Loulee asked.

"We?" Sanji asked looking to Zoro.

Sanji groaned walking up to Zoro and rubbed his face.

"Your a mess."

"Right back at you." Zoro said.

"I'll cook then clean your messy face up then I'll leave."

Before Zoro could say more Sanji turned to the kitchen. Loulee sat at the bar while Sanji whipped something up to eat. He smiled cooking for his family. Zoro sat next to Loulee who went on about her new doll Grandpa Mihawk gave to her. Zoro didn't say much but watched Sanji's fingers chop up meat and put it into a pan. He finished and put them on a plate. And handed them to Zoro and Loulee. Sanji cleaned up the pans and plates in the sink before going upstairs. Zoro grabbed the divorce papers and told Loulee to wait there. Zoro went upstairs. Sanji sat on the floor before an open shoe box. Flipping through pictures until he stopped, Zoro watched pain go through Sanji as a tear rolled down his cheek. His eyes stuck on the very first photo they took together. Sanji's eyes flicked up to Zoro, he sniffled wiping away the tear.

"What do you want?" Sanji said clearing his throat.

Zoro walked over and sat down next to him.

"I'm sorry, I lied to you. I'm sorry I hurt you. I'm sorry for all this. I took this too far and I was mad. I didn't mean to hurt you, I vowed I wouldn't hurt you in our wedding vows but I broke my vow." Zoro said.

"It's too late Marimo. You should of thought of that a month ago" Sanji's voice cracked.

"I didn't file for divorce, we need you here. I need you here, I can't cook. I can't put Loulee to be-"

"You didn't turn in the form?"

"I didn't, but that's not my-"

"Why?"

"If you would quit interrupting me I would tell you why."

Sanji gave a small laugh.

"I missed you too much, I love you." Zoro said.

Zoro pulled out the divorce papers and ripped them in half. He and Sanji embraced holding each other. Taking in the scent of the missing half.

"I missed you so much." Sanji said

"I know, it was too lonely." Zoro said.

They pulled back, Sanji frowned, "Ugh your moss is growing to your face."

Zoro chuckled trying to kiss Sanji but only to have Sanji push away.

"I am not getting whisker burn. Get your ass in the bathroom so I can shave your moss off."

Zoro sighed getting up and going into the bathroom. Sanji followed after him, Zoro sat up on the counter while Sanji prepared for Zoro's facial cleanup.

"Oh, I think this belongs to you." Zoro said.

Sanji turned to Zoro holding a smaller golden ring. Sanji smiled holding out his hand.

"You have to put it on." Sanji smiled.

Zoro took Sanji's hand putting the ring on his finger. Then leaving a prickly kiss on his knuckle.

"Tch, your no Marimo. Your a cactus." Sanji  chuckled.

"Dad! Daddy! I'm all finished!" Loulee called.

She ran into the bathroom while Sanji was putting the white cream on Zoro's face.

"Daddy, your wearing your wedding ring. Are you staying with us now?!" Loulee gasped.

"I am, as long as your stubborn Cactus Marimo father cooperates." Sanji smiled.

"You better behave Dad! Or Daddy's gonna leave again."

"You heard her."

Zoro and Sanji chuckled while Zoro's prickly cactus face was being cut. They were a family again.

"How do you not remember that?" Zoro asked.

"I don't know it was a long time ago." Loulee said.

A fully grown woman sitting at the same house she grew up in. And a much older Zoro with slightly gray hair sitting alone on the couch.

"Your dad loved to tell you that story." Zoro said, "He says that you saved our marriage."

"Yeah, I miss him."

"I miss him too. But hey he's watching over us smoking up a storm. Since he can't die again from the cancer sticks."

Zoro looked over to the blue jar sitting on the mantle. Thinking one day he will join his husband on that mantle before getting put into the sea.
