Reuniting Once More

A/N: This is very angst but happy ending. I wanted to publish this today, because it felt right to me publishing this. I might make this into a chapter story but. Idk. But without a further ado, here you are.

Zoro sighed shutting the scrapbook and pushing it under his bed. This man was cursed with immortality. He couldn't die, he's tried many times. He sat back against his bed and ran a hand through his hair. He was alone once again. Zoro was a widower. He lost his late husband over a century ago. He hated to be alone waiting to find him again. Or this time he would be a she. But he would always recognize their blue eyes. The gleaming smile. The. Love they always shared to Zoro. He rested his head against the bed and looked up at the ceiling. Zoro gave up his left eye for immortality because he didn't want to die before his husband. His first husband many, many years ago. And. He still looked as young as ever. He figured he should get up and start the day before he missed work. Zoro got up getting ready for the day changing into his chief uniform and headed into his living room. Where many empty frames sat littered around the house. He signed grabbing his hat and adjusting it on his head before he headed out of his apartment. Zoro headed down the stairs before he ran into someone, Zoro grabbed his wrist before he fell. The blonde held the small tray of coffee upright making sure it didn't spill before he glanced up to Zoro. His eye widened seeing the sea blue eye glance up at him startled.

"Are you alright?" Zoro asked.

The blonde nodded as Zoro helped him up. He held out his hand to the blonde.

"My name is Zoro." He spoke.

"Sanji." The blonde smiled.

Zoro smirked, a small beeping broke out in Sanji's breast pocket, he tore his hand away and pulled out his phone. He glanced back to Zoro and shrugged.

"It was nice, running into you. But I have to go." Sanji said.

"Sure, have a nice day." Zoro tilted his hat.

He turned as they both separated down the street.

"Three, two, one." Zoro mutated.

"uh, Zoro?" Sanji called.

He smirked and turned back to Sanji, "Yes?"

"Would, would you like to have dinner sometime?" Sanji asked.

"I would love to."

Sanji trotted up to him pulling a pen out of his pocket and scribbled down his number. Zoro smirked as Sanji pulled back and glanced up at him.

"It's good to see you again." Zoro said.

Sanji cocked a curled brow, "We've met before?"

"Many times, but you don't remember. It was a very long time ago." Zoro said.

"If I met you before I think I would of remembered a face like yours."

Zoro chuckled, "Maybe."

He took Sanji's hand and kissed his knuckle softly before leaving. Sanji stood smiling softly.

"A cook you say?" Zoro said.

Sanji nodded.

They sat in Sanji's apartment with a full cooked meal siting before them. Sanji had cooked himself while Zoro sat on the other side of him smiling and resting on his hand. Both dressed nicely in button up shirts and jeans. But Zoro had a few buttons popped because he knew. He knew what Sanji liked.

"You said we've met before, when?" Sanji asked.

Zoro chuckled, "Oh, you'd call me crazy. Trust me. That's a story for another day."

"I won't I swear."

He smirked glancing up at Sanji, "No, I know you will."

Sanji blinked confused, as Zoro started to eat the pasta Sanji had prepared. He sighed letting the topic slide and come back for another day. Zoro glanced up to Sanji who snored a laugh and covered his mouth keeping from the giggles from escaping. Zoro had finished his plate with pasta sauce over his face like he was a child. Sanji reached over wiping his face and pulled back. Zoro smiled softly as Sanji sat back down. He was falling in love with the love of his life all over again. And it felt good.

"Thank you for having me." Zoro said, "Out of all my years I haven't had something so good."

Sanji smiled, "I'm glad you liked it."

Zoro cupped his cheeks looking into his eyes, Sanji saw happiness and love reflecting into his own.

"Can I kiss you?" Zoro asked.

Sanji blushed as Zoro grinned to this reaction. He nodded slightly as Zoro leaned in and kissed him. Sanji kissed back filling his heart with everything he ever wanted. Once Zoro pulled back he had a soft smile on his lips. He rested his forehead on Sanji's and interlaced there fingers together. Sanji hummed and glanced up at Zoro.

"I hope you will have me again." Zoro said.

Sanji nodded, "Anytime."

Zoro chuckled as they embraced and shared another kiss before Zoro left. Sanji had fallen hopelessly in love with Zoro. Not much longer, Sanji asked Zoro to move in and he promised he would help.

Sanji dropped unfolded boxes onto the floor in the living room as Zoro couldn't help but notice what Sanji was wearing. A pair of very well fitting jeans and a baggy t shirt with his hair pulled up.

"I like this one." Zoro purred.

"Oh hush, this are the only clothes I have to wear for this sort of thing." Sanji huffed.

He sat on the floor folding boxes once he was done with the first box he slid it to Zoro and snapped to his room. He groaned picking up the box and going to his room. Zoro had to admit, Sanji was different a bit different then the others. He was bossy, and could cook. But Zoro loved Sanji even if he was a bit of a pain in the ass. Sanji stepped in approaching Zoro and hugged him from behind having Zoro turn to him and chuckle. Sanji smiled up to him as Zoro spun to face him as they shared a kiss. Which melted into pulling each other closer and tongue battling for dominance. They slowly slunk to the floor before Zoro pulled back.

"Alright enough fun, we have more work to do." Sanji said.

He booped his nose having Zoro chuckle and kiss his cheek. Zoro got up and went back to packing his clothes when Sanji noticed something out of the corner of his eye. A scrapbook, slid under the bed. He reached for it and pulled it out.

"Ah Ha! I found your baby book." Sanji chimed.

Zoro's eye widened as he turned to Sanji, he opened the book as his smile soon faded. He looked up to Zoro with a pained expression.

"W-Who are these people?" Sanji asked.

Zoro bit his lip, as Sanji looked back to the book, his eyes scanning over the men and women with Zoro.

"And why do they look like me?" Sanji asked.

Zoro knelt down to him putting his hand on Sanji's.

"Sanji, those people. Are you." Zoro said.

He blinked confused, Zoro's eye watered as he explained what he was. Who he was. And the past lives of Sanji were. Zoro was chocked up to the end tears running down his cheeks as his lip quivered.

"I'm always terrified of telling you this, because I'm scared your going to leave. You'll think I'm crazy and I'll never see you again." Zoro whimpered, "Then I'd have to wait over a hundred years before I find you again."

Sanji set the book aside before he embraced Zoro, he sniffled as Sanji sat back on his heel's.

"I'd be crazy if I left you." Sanji said.

Zoro sniffled as Sanji kissed his forehead and wiped away his tears.

"You don't think I'm crazy?"

Sanji picked up the book again, "No, it's kind of romantic. You've been alive all this time. Only to find me again and tell me this story."

He chuckled as Sanji sat in his lap and opened the book, Zoro wiped his eye and rested his cheek on Sanji's head.

"Can you tell me about them?" Sanji asked.

Zoro chuckled, "Sure."

It's been some time now, Zoro and Sanji were wed and adopted two trouble maker kids.

"So, Zoro how many kids do you have?" Sanji asked.

Zoro shrugged as Sanji sat in his lap looking over the book. Counting over the small children in book.

"I know I'm a father, a grandfather, probably a great grandfather. I don't know." Zoro said.

"How old are you exactly?"

He shrugged once more, "I lost count after, five hundred."

Sanji almost dropped the book as he turned to Zoro.

"So your telling me, your over five hundred years old."

"Yep."

Sanji sighed, as he turned back to the scrapbook. Zoro's face furrowed noticing in Sanji's bond hair. There was, a white hair. Zoro looped the white hair plucking it out of his head. Sanji winced turning to Zoro then to the white hair. Sanji coughed harshly having Zoro set the book aside as Sanji stopped and cleared his throat.

"I really do think we should take you to a doctor." Zoro said.

"I'm fine, just a slight cough I'll live." Sanji said.

Zoro sighed and nodded. But Sanji only grew worse. He would wake up in the middle of the night gasping for breath. Or during there evening walks Sanji would suddenly stop and grab his chest. Along with wheezing most of the time. Which lead Sanji to go to the doctor. Starting series of tests and Sanji was now locked away into a white room. Because he had gotten, lung cancer. This was new. Zoro had never experienced his loved one to go through cancer. It was mostly old age, or sudden accident. But. Cancer, was new.

Zoro walked into the room as Sanji coughed roughly into his blanket, before he started wheezing and sat up. He smiled seeing Zoro.

"Zoro." Sanji's rough voice spoke.

He smiled and sat down next to Sanji.

"Did you bring it?" Sanji asked.

Zoro nodded pulling out the scrapbook and placed it in Sanji's lap. He smiled flipping through it, he pointed to a woman kissing Zoro's cheek.

"What was her name again?" Sanji's gruff voice asked.

"Angelica." Zoro said.

Sanji smiled, "I've always liked that name."

Zoro chuckled as Sanji stopped to the next page. His eyes welded up and turned to Zoro, his fingers brushed over the picture. Sitting on the page was a picture of Sanji and Zoro holding Satori and Loulee for the first time. He whimpered as his tears dripped down onto the page. He glanced to Zoro with his eye glazed over. He handed Sanji a pen for him to sign a message like the others did. Sanji whimpered taking the pen and scribbling his message to Zoro. He turned to Zoro as tears dripped down his cheeks.

"I'm sorry I didn't live as long as the others." Sanji croaked.

Zoro gave a shaken breath reaching out and cupped Sanji's cheek.

"I's okay, it's the sooner I'll see you again." Zoro said, "I hope you know I'll always love you."

Sanji smiled, "I know, and I'll fall in love with you once more."

Zoro kissed him softly before pulling back. The door was opened as a nurse came in.

"Visiting hours are over, please say your goodbyes."

Zoro nodded as she left, he turned to Sanji clutching the sheets.

"You'll be back tomorrow right?" Sanji asked.

"Of course." Zoro said.

Sanji smiled as Zoro kissed him softly as he left, he turned to Sanji sitting in the white room. Thin, frail, tubes in his body, up his nose, and dying. Zoro never felt this kind of pain before, his heart ached as Sanji slightly waved. Zoro smiled and waved back, but once he got home. Zoro broke down clutching close the scrap book and wailing in there apartment. He wished he could do something. Anything to make this pain go away. But he already used up what he could for his immortality. Once the next morning awoke Zoro took no time to go visit Sanji leaving the scrapbook behind. Once he arrived at the hospital and got to Sanji's room a doctor stepped out and shut the door.

"How is he?" Zoro asked.

The doctor sighed, "He's not going to make it through tonight. So spend what you can with him before he goes."

Zoro nodded as he turned to the room, Sanji was now hooked to a bigger breathing machine. Sanji lazily opened his eyes to Zoro and smiled. Zoro went up to him and took his hand. He shakenly raised his hand to the mask and slowly pulled it down.

"Z-Zoro." Sanji wheezed.

"Sh-sh, save your strength." Zoro said.

He placed the mask back on Sanji's face before kissing his bony fingers. Sanji smiled as he reached up for the mask once more.

"Zoro. Do- you tr-trust me?" Sanji panted.

"Of course."

Sanji let the mask fall back into place before his hand reached into his blanket and pulled something out. Zoro's eye widened to the needle filled with a clear liquid that Sanji held.

"Where did you get that? Sanji what are you doing with that?"

He reached up and pulled down his mask he smiled weakly.

"I'm. Keeping m-my p-romise." Sanji said.

"Sanji, what p-romise is that?" Zoro asked.

Before Zoro could react Sanji had stabbed Zoro with the needle in the heart. Zoro's eye scanned Sanji's who was wheezing softly. He pressed the liquid into his heart as Zoro's heart began to ache having him grunt. Sanji pulled out the needle as Zoro  clutch his chest. There was a loud beeping as Zoro looked up to Sanji.

"I'm s-setting yo-u free." He whispered.

Sanji took Zoro's hand as everything in Zoro's systems were shutting down. It grew harder to breathe. He wheezed as he looked up to Sanji, he had a soft smile on his face. Dropping the needle as it shattered to the floor.

"I l-lo-love y-you." Sanji wheezed.

Zoro clutched Sanji's hand as he watched the light fade from his eyes and his last breath was drawn. Zoro held his hand closer kissing his fingers as things started to go dark. He glanced back up to Sanji and gave a shaken breath.

"I love you too."

His eyes rolled back up into his head and slumped onto the bed.

"Zoro."

He groaned, tossing over.

"Come on Zoro, wake up. It's me. Sanji."

Zoro sat up butting heads with Sanji they both groaned sitting back, he rubbed his head and turned to Sanji sitting next to him. Sanji took his hand and kissed his cheek. He looked as young as ever having Zoro smirk. He was glowing a golden color with wings folded behind him. Zoro glanced behind him to his wings and groaned. Sanji hummed and sat closer to him wrapping his arm around his shoulders.

"Thanks. For setting me free." Zoro said.
