Chapter 30

“Leo!!” yelled Nikita when she saw him waiting hopelessly sitting on the chair with hands on his head. He looked up at Nikita with tears of regret in his eyes, “How is she?” she asked concernedly

“The doctors are still with her,” Leo told her sadly.

“What happened?” Nikita asked.

He stood up and hugged her, “It’s all my faults,” he sobbed.

“What actually happened?” asked Andrew standing besides them.

“We quarreled,” he told them with a regret in his voice “I tried to stop her from leaving me and she fall down the stairs.”

“What are you quarrelling about?” asked Nikita.

With tears streaming down his eyes he told her softly, “We found out she’s pregnant this morning.”

Nikita looked at Leo, “Luna pregnant?” she softly asked Leo.

Leo nodded, “That’s the reason why we quarreled. I asked her to abort the baby.”

 “What??” both Nikita and Andrew asked at the same time, “Why?”

“Because I don’t think the baby is mine,” he stressed.

“What make you think that?” asked Nikita angrily.

“She’s been with other man before this, who knows whose the father,” he pointed out and received a hard slapped from Nikita.

“How dare you said that to her?” said Nikita angrily. “You think she’s a whore?!!”

“She’s a super model. What do you want me to think about her?!!” he yelled at Nikita. “She’s been with that Terry guy and who knows maybe he has been supporting her all this while?” he accused and this time Andrew was the one who punched him on his face.

“Don’t you say those things about her!!” he gritted his teeth angrily at Leo, “You don’t know her and don’t accuse her of something she didn’t do. She’s doesn’t deserved to be accused of all those things especially from you!!”

“I don’t know her?!!” asked Leo. “Then why don’t you tell me about her? Tell me how am I supposed to trust someone who had betrayed my trust 8 years ago? Tell me what am I suppose to think about someone who chose my mother’s money over me? Tell me what am I suppose to think about her when she told me that money means everything to her? Tell me, Andrew!! Tell me!!”

“She didn’t betray you,” said Andrew softly making Leo stared at him. “She never took your mother’s money.  She didn’t choose your mother’s money over you but she chose to let you have better life.”

“What?” Leo queered.

“That’s the truth Leo,” injected Nikita. “She didn’t take your mother’s money. She pretended she did because that would make you leave her.” Leo looked at both Nikita and Andrew demanding them to explain.

“You both know the truth and you keep it from me and let me hate her for all this 8 years?” Leo angrily asked them.

Andrew cast him a regret look, “We’re sorry Leo. We know we shouldn’t keep it from you but we have promised Luna and we’re thinking that was the best for both of you at that time.”

“Why don’t you both let me decide what’s best for us instead?” he regrettably asked.

“We didn’t want Luna to be hurt further Leo,” add Nikita, “She has suffered so badly and we didn’t want her to suffer any more.”

“We should have told you earlier but Luna had made us promised not to tell you anything,” explained Andrew.

“She didn’t want you to hate your mother,” Nikita added.

“She preferred me to hate her and think the worst about her instead?” Leo asked but in more a statement manner that a question. He couldn’t contain his emotions and the regret feelings he felt any longer, he sobbed in front of both Nikita and Andrew.

Nikita immediately went to hugged him, feeling sad and sorry for him. He hugged Nikita and sobbed, “Oh Leo,” Nikita cried with him and whispered, “We are so sorry,” she hugged him tightly while he continued sobbing.

 “Yes Leo, we’re sorry,” nodded Andrew, “But now I think we should tell you the truth about what happened,” and ushered him to sit.

“That night after your mother dragged you home, she came to see Luna at her place.  She humiliated both Luna and her mom, throwing a bunch of money at Luna’s face. She demanded them to leave the town that night if not she’s going to ensure that both of them will suffered.” Andrew started.

He took a deep breath and continued, “That the cause of Luna’s mother sudden heart attack and died that night. After Luna told you to go away and as I promised you, I came back to see her asking her to explained her actions. She told me that it’s the only way to make you leave her but I didn’t agree with her. I kept telling her to give you a chance to prove yourself to her but she still refused. She told me that she knows what your mother capable of doing and she doesn’t want you to suffer because of her. She doesn’t want you to have a miserable life because of her.

I decided not to press her on the matter that night thinking that maybe I would be able to make her change her mind on the next day. I went over to your place that night and tried to sneak through your window again to tell you that she’s just pretending but your mother’s guards caught me and throw me out. I have no choice but to just go home.

Your mother was informed of her mother’s death by Luna’s uncle, George, who was your mother butler. The same night George informed about the death of his sister, he returned your mother’s money and tendered his resignation.

They thought your mother would leave Luna alone after hearing about her mother death but instead your mother came to see Luna at the hospital. She didn’t show any compassion towards Luna but instead keep on humiliating and threatening Luna. She said she will ensure that Luna life will be miserable and humiliated for the rest of her lives. My parents were there and they managed to drag her out from the hospital.

Her uncle as decided to bury her mother the next day but your mother came to their house and attacked Luna again. She humiliated Luna in front of every guest that attended the funeral by calling her sluts, accusing her of using you to get easy money and even made up stories that Luna made herself pregnant with your baby just to get more money for her. Even after all the humiliations and allegations thrown at her by your mother, Luna just remained quiet as if the world doesn’t matters to her any more but luckily we were there including Nikita’s parents, her uncle and my parents. We stopped your mother from continued humiliating her but your mother said she won’t be satisfied until Luna leaves the town. We all decided that it’s best for Luna to leave to save her from your mother further humiliation and threatening but couldn’t decide where. We want her to be somewhere that someone would able to keep an eye on her. We can’t let her be alone by her own.

The same day of her mother funeral, Luna received an offer letter to further her studies in Oxford with full scholarships. We all saw that as an opportunity for her to leave. Beside, no one have to worry about her safety since I will be there looking out for her.

I went to your house that day. Your mother refused to let me see you at first but when I told her that I’m going to tell you to forget about Luna and that Luna will be leaving that night, she finally agreed.

I have to tell you what I’ve said to you that day because I wanted to protect both you and Luna. I don’t want her to be humiliated by your mother again and I see her point of what your mother are capable of doing if you both are together. That’s why I told you to forget her but I never stopped hoping that you both would still end-up together.

Both Luna and I left town that night with my parents. When we arrived at London, my parents informed Luna that they wanted to adopt her as their daughter. Luna hesitated at first but when my parents told her that they sincerely like her to be their daughter and I’m trilled to have her as my sister, she finally accepted. With my father contacts, we managed to adopt her there in London itself.”

Leo looked at Andrew in stunned, “So she’s your sister now?” he asked.

Andrew smiled proudly, “Yes she is. Good thing she’s younger than me by three months so that make me her big brother,” he chuckled before continued, “I’m so proud to have her as my sister. She’s amazing. Don’t you know that?” he asked looking at Leo and then chuckled, “Of course you know. You’ve told me so.”

Leo chuckled with him and Andrew continued, “Even though she’s already become a rich man’s daughter, she’s still work hard to earned her own pocket money. She told me she can’t just rely on our parents to support her. Nikita’s auntie has a friend in London and she offered Luna to be her model. That’s where she started her model career. She did her modeling job whenever she have no classes and during semester break. We both moved to New York after completing our studies, me because, I’m taking over my dad business here while she wanted to continue with her modeling career. She told me she love doing it. Not because she could flaunt herself in front of everyone but because whenever she’s modeling something, it make her felt confident and proud of herself. With the money she earned from modeling, she and Nikita joined venture opening up a boutique. That boutique is her baby because it’s all from her own saving without a single penny from our parents, but mom insisted of funding some money, so what Luna did was appointed her as Director and being paying her salary without her knowledge. She deposited the money into my mom’s account monthly.

But no matter how she lives her life, she never had any one special. Well, I admitted that she had a crushed on one of my class mate but she never tell him about her feelings but instead help him to win the girl of his dream and become one of their brides maid. She still loves you Leo,” said Andrew looking at him, “I know she does.”

“What about Terry?” Leo asked clearing his doubt.

“What about Terry?” Nikita asked weirdly.

“Well Luna is very close with him,” he said.

“That’s because he’s our designer,” explained Nikita, “I thought you knew that.”

“Yes I do but I’ve seen Luna with him. Luna even admitted that she like his company,” said Leo as he recalled the night Luna refused to follow him.

Nikita laughed, “Everyone loves Terry’s company. He’s great,” she said and then looked at Leo’s jealous face, “Oh god, you are jealous of him?” she asked and when Leo remained quiet, she laughed again, “Oh Leo. You don’t have to worry about him. If given a choice I think he would choose you over Luna or any other girls.”

Leo cast a weird look and Andrew laughed with his wife, “Leo, he’s gay,” explained Andrew. “He tried to seduce me before,” and Nikita nodded.

“You mean there are no other guys before me?” Leo asked Nikita.

“None, not that I know of,” Nikita confirmed, “I never seen her with any man.  If she had any meetings with men, she will bring me or Andrew along with her. She didn’t want them to take a chance on her.”

Leo sighed and tears started to from in his eyes again, “For all this past 8 years I’ve been fighting my true feelings towards her. I make myself hate her,” Leo said sadly, “I even make myself believe all the worst things about her. I don’t fully trust her. I didn’t even believe her when she told me that’s my baby. ”

“But no matter what you did, Luna never stop loving you,” Nikita said to him softly making he looked up at her with hope. Nikita smiled and nodded.

“Yes Leo,” joined in Andrew putting his hand on Leo’s shoulders.

“How did you know?” Leo asked.

“So told me so,” Nikita said to him. “So many times and latest was yesterday after you called her.”

“But you think she will still love me after all this?” he asked softly and regret tears rolled down from his eyes.

“I know she will,” assured Andrew smiling confidently at Leo.
