Chapter 12

Chapter 12

Luna was glad that Leo did leave her alone after last night incident, but was she really glad? If she does, why does she felt so gloomy today? She asked herself. It was as if something is missing from her. Was it because she’s been crying to sleep? Was that the reason why she’s feeling gloomy? Ignoring her feelings, she concentrated on her work by doing anything that could make her forget about Leo, well, for time being.

She had not told Nikita about last night incident since she did not see her friend yet today. Nikita is probably still sleeping at the moment. They promised to meet after her shift is over which will be late evening.

The place was packed with customers and before she knows it was already time to close.

“How was your date last night?” she asked Nikita when she seated inside her car.

“It was great,” Nikita responded smiling at the same time, “I just came back from a date with him again just now.”

“Oh, really?” she smiled, “Where did you go?”

“We have lunch and then went to see a movie,” Nikita told her smiling away.

“Hmm, is it a nice movie?” she asked.

“Not bad I think,” Nikita nodded.

“Huh, I don’t think you even know what movie you are watching?” she accused.

“What make you say that?” asked Nikita trying to defend herself.

“Because I think you both are busy sucking each other faces than watching it. These hickeys proved it,” she laughed pulled the scarf from Nikita’s neck.

“Damn shit,” cursed Nikita and looked that the rear mirror, “You’re not supposed to know,” whined Nikita making Luna laughed louder.

“So how was your day?’ Nikita asked her when her laughed subsides.

“Busy like hell,” Luna told her, “But I like it because time flies very fast and before you know it the day is over.”

Nikita chuckled, “Yep, in other words, it helps you to forget about Leo for a while.”

“Who said he’s on my mind?” Luna asked and glared at her friend. “I didn’t even think of him,” she lied.

“Really,” asked Nikita not believing a single word she said, “I’m glad to hear that,” she smirked.

“Why would I think about him?” Luna grumbling, “Is not like we’re dating or anything?”

“Who knows? Maybe because there a small guilty feeling inside you for making him waited for you and then frustrated when you’re not coming?” she mocked.

“Nikita stopped it,” scolded Luna, “You know why I didn’t go last night! And furthermore, he already knew why I didn’t come.”

Nikita pretend to be shocked, “You’ve told him why? You told him his mother stopped you from being his friend?”

“No, of course not,” scoffed Luna, “I’ve told him I actually didn’t like him. That’s why I didn’t want to see him again.”

“You said that to him?” Nikita queried with mouth wide open, “When did you tell him?”

Luna sighed, “Last night. He came to look for me at the shop.”

“He did?” Nikita bite her lips, “So what did he say to you after you tell him that?”

“He didn’t say anything. He look stunned,” Luna said softly. She could still remember those hurt feelings in his eyes when she told him that.

“I’ll be stunned if I were him,” admitted Nikita.

Luna sighed and said sadly, “Can we stop talking about him?” Looking at the surrounding around them she immediately asked, “By the way, where are we going?”

“To Jake’s,” informed Nikita smiling happily at Luna, “Two days I’ve not been there I’ve already missed the food.”

“Yeah, so do I,” admitted Luna happily, “And I’ve missed Jake too.”

They finally arrived at Jake’s place. The place was packed as usual. Luna used to work as a part-time waitress at Jake’s. Because she was underage she starts work after school and finished by 7.00 pm everyday, but this summer holidays she was offered to work at Mira’s shop which pays better than Jake.

“Hey Jake,” they both greeted the owner when he came over to their table to take their order.

“Hey my favorite girls,” he smiled at them, “How are you doing? I miss you two like hell,” he told him and hugging them at the same time.

The girls giggled at him, “Oh Jake, we’ve been here two days ago,” Nikita hit him.

“Really? It felt like two years,” he joked making both girls laughed him before ordering their meals.

Luna noticed that Nikita had been busy sending message from her phone, “Who are you SMSing to?” Luna curiously asked.

“Andrew,” Nikita smiled at the same time raising her eyebrows naughtily at Luna. Luna shook her head showing a disgusting face at her friend.

Nikita pouted her lips at Luna, “You’re just jealous,” she said and continued typing.

Nikita finally put the phone down when food arrived and they both were eating their meals when Nikita look up at someone behind Luna and smiled. Luna looked at her friend weirdly before turning around to look at the person behind her. Too her surprised, both Leo and Andrew were standing there. She immediately looked away when Leo’s eyes caught hers making her heart beat loudly that she think everyone around could hear it. What is he doing here? She asked herself. She looked at Nikita who gave her an apology look. She must have known Andrew’s coming but does she knows Leo is coming too? As if she could read Luna’s mind, Nikita immediately shook her head softly biting her lips at the same time.

“Hey girls,” it was Andrew who broke the silence and went to Nikita, kissing her on the lips before sit besides her.

“Hey Lu, I hope you don’t mind us coming,” he said to Luna who couldn’t hide her flushed face. She’s blushing and didn’t know whether it was because she saw Andrew kissing Nikita or because Leo presence. It might be both.

“No,” she said so softly as if her voice was stuck in her throat. Clearing her voice she said again in a clearer tone, “No, of course not,” trying to act calm as possible but the truth her heart keeps on beating so fast. How she wish she could just run and leave the place but she doesn’t know why her feet couldn’t move as if it frozen.

“Have a seat Leo,” invited Nikita showing the empty seat next to Luna. Leo smiled and as he sat down his knees accidentally touched Luna’s. She immediate could feel like an electric current runs up through her veins. She automatically moved her feet away from him. She could feel he turned and looked at her but she didn’t dare to even look at him. She could feel the heat runs up her face and she knows must be blushing like a lobster right now. She pretended to remain claim but she could feel her hands were shaking while holding her food. She immediately put the food down on the plate.

Leo could feel Luna nervousness. He could see her face flushed which make her look so cute. He wanted to smile but prevent himself from doing it. He doesn’t want her to be angry with him and then leave. He remember Nikita told him that if Luna acted nervous around someone, it’s either she’s scared of the things she’s done wrong or she likes him. So, in his case, he’s convinced that it were both. She’s nervous because she had lied to him and because she does like him, so very much and he are very sure about that.

He had to thank both Andrew and Nikita for coming up with this plan. Nikita especially, since she knew Luna too well. He was scared at first thinking that Luna might run away if she sees him there, but Nikita is convinced that Luna would never do that. Luna would never embarrass anyone not even her enemy, said Nikita and seeing that Luna still sitting silently besides him proves it.

After the guys ordered their drinks, Nikita excused herself to go to her restroom and Andrew followed her leaving both Luna and Leo alone. There’s an awkward silence between them. Luna heart had been beating so fast since Leo came in and being alone with him right now had made her heart beat even faster. Her hands could not stop shaking and she didn’t even dare to touch her food because she’s afraid that Leo would notice it.

“How were you first day of work? Busy” Leo asked breaking the silence between them.

“Yeah,” her reply was short staring at her food and playing with her fingers.

 “Lots of customers?” he asked

“Yeah,” she replied.

“Lots of sales,” another questions from him.

“Yeah,” she nodded.

“Did you think of me while you were working?”

“Yeah…” she stopped realizing what she’s just said to him. She turned to look at him who was grinning widely at her, “No,” she snorted glaring at him at the same time.

He chuckled, “Are you sure you don’t?” he teased.

“VERY SURE,” she pressed, showing an angry face at him. He laughed at her instead.

She glared and ignored him and he started moved closer to her. She moved away from him and he moved closer again. She moved again and he moved closer and closer until she was pressed against the wall. His shoulders pressed against hers and his knees touching hers. She cramped her legs together tying to stop them for touching his.

“Would you please move away?!” she pushed his shoulder roughly but he’s too tough.

“Nope, I’m not moving,” He’s didn’t budged, not even an inch. “I’m not going anywhere until you tell me you actually like me,” he threatened.

“You’re crazy,” she protest, “What make you think I like you? I’ve already told you last night. So leave me alone.”

“I’m sorry, I don’t think I could do that,” he twisted his lips, “Can I know why you don’t like me?” he asked.

She glared, “Because…,” she paused trying to think of a reason, “Because you’re rich,” she finally added.

“Because I’m rich?” he asked with a surprised tone, “You don’t like me because I’m rich?”

She glance at him, pursed her lips then looked ahead and nodded, “Um, yeah,” as if satisfied with her own reply.

“So in other word, you actually like me but because I’m rich, you don’t like me. Am I right?” he clarified.

Thinking a while before she replied, “Right,” she nodded in agreement.

“Well if that the case, you actually have no reason not to like me, because I’m not rich,” he told her happily.

“What?” Luna scoffed.

“I’m not rich;” he repeat, “All the money belongs to my parents, not mine,” he shrugged and before Luna could say anything he added, “If you said that it makes no difference because I’m a rich man’s son, then what about Nikita and Andrew, they have rich parents too. What make them different from me?”

Luna bite her lips, how she wish to tell him that the difference was that both their parents didn’t threatened her not be their friends unlike his mother.

“Here are you drinks boy,” Jake said who approached their table with a drink.

“Huh?”  Luna looked at the drink, “It supposed to be two glasses, Jake,” she told him.

“Oh, Nikita and Andrew already left. They even paid the bill,” he told Luna and walked away.

“What?!!” Luna asked shockingly. At the same time both hers and Leo’s phone buzzed, indicating an incoming message.

She read hers while Leo read his.

Her message was from Nikita, read, “Sorry, I love you.”

Leo’s was from Andrew, read, “Good luck, dude,”

Luna cursed while Leo….. chuckled.
