"Moooooooom, come on. It's just a party." I whine. A party thrown by the most popular and sexiest boy in my school.

I couldn't believe it when the most popular guy in my high school started giving me his attention. A guy like him wouldn’t even glance twice at the girl like me and I don't know when he noticed me. But I'm not complaining, because any girl in our school would kill to be in my shoes for a day.

We've been hanging out for a month now and I think… I'm in love. He's so damn amazing, smart, gentlemanly, there's nothing to hate about him. We've kissed a few times and I never wanted to stop. He takes my breath away whenever he kisses me and if that's how I die… I'll die happily. And then he invited me today to his party. I couldn't refuse.

He even said that I can bring my best friend with me if I don't feel comfortable enough to attend his party alone, such a gentleman he is. Almost every girl drools over him in the school and he has never, ever, invited a middle schooler to his party. I feel like the luckiest girl alive, and I’m not gonna lie, I almost had a heart attack when he winked, yes actually winked at me, as he passed me in the parking lot when school was over.

And me being a total wimp, I started blushing then and there, which only made him chuckle lightly. “You're a loser, Avery.” I scoff at myself, but hey, he laughed positively. Like he liked that I was blushing. Maybe he loves me too.

But he's eighteen, I think to myself. So what? Mr. and Mrs. Smith, our neighbors, have an age gap of seven years between them and they're still married and madly in love with each other. And it's not like we're gonna elope to Vegas and marry each other, it's just a party, right? And attending his party won't hurt, since there's a rumor around the school that he throws the coolest parties in the school and invites only selected people.

You have to be someone special if he's inviting you to his party, and I'm NOT going to lose this opportunity, since it's a ladder to get into the popular crowd. Poppy would be so jealous when she hears tomorrow that I was invited to his party.

I sigh and utter his name under my breathe for the hundredth time, "Will Levi". Even his name is sexy. Shit, I need to go to this party. I just have to, I don't care what I have to do.

"Mom, are you even listening?" I ask, entering the kitchen where my mom is washing the dishes. We've just had dinner and I've been pestering her about this party throughout dinner, but she's hell-bent on me staying home. She doesn't understand how important this party is for me.

"No means no, Avery. You are not mature enough to attend a high school party. And why would a high schooler even invite a middle schooler? I don't care, you're not going anywhere, go to your room, complete your homework and sleep," she says sternly without even looking at me.

"Mom, please. You don't understand. It's the first time I've been invited to someone's party. I don't wanna miss it. I don't want to come off as a total loser in school, plus I’m fourteen mom. I'm mature enough to attend a damn party. You know I would never drink or do some bad shit. Please trust me." I keep pushing my luck desperately.

"No, and that's my final answer. Go back to your room and sleep," she replies with the kind of authority in her voice that makes my mouth snap shut and takes me back to my room.

I slump down on my bed and my phone starts ringing. I read the caller ID and curse. It's Anastasia, my best friend. How do I tell her that my mom won't let me go anywhere? She was so excited and kept chatting my ear off the whole time in school. She's going to be so disappointed.

I close my eyes and answer the phone.

"Are You Readyyyyyyy?!" She screams as soon as I pick up the call.

"Mom doesn't want me to go, Ana." I sigh.

She remains silent for a whole thirty seconds, digesting whatever I said and then screams again, "What? Why?!"

"I don't know, she thinks we are not mature enough to attend a high school party," I reply with bitterness in my voice. She can't even trust me.

"Did you tell her that I will be accompanying you? I'm sure she'll let you go once she knows that I'll be there with you."

"I did and she thinks that you shouldn't go there either."

"Well shit, I can't even go alone since he invited you. I was just permitted to tag along." She curses under her breath.

I quickly sit up, cross my legs, and reply with suspicion filled in my voice, "So you would've attended his party alone if he would've invited you as well? Without me?"

"Wh-what? No, no way. You're my best friend, we're double-A's. We do everything together, Evie. I would never leave you alone like that." She stutters, but I calm down hearing her say my nickname and mentioning double-As.

She has been my best friend since elementary school. We've always done everything together. She would never leave me alone like that. And we're double A's, Avery and Anastasia, together, forever.

"I don't know what to do. I guess we'll be sleeping in, instead of attending a badass party," I reply and slump down again.

"No! We have to go there anyhow! This is a golden opportunity, Evie. We can't miss it."

"But how? My mom will never agree." I whine like a pathetic girl.

She remains silent for a minute, entertaining my question, and makes a humming sound she always makes when she's thinking.

"Idea!" She screams again and I rub my ear at the sound.

"Tell me."

"You can sneak out!" She squeals.

"What? Sneak out? I've never done that before, Ana." I frown.

"Oh, come on. Don't be a loser, Evie. Almost everyone in our class sneaks out to somewhere every night, you can do it too. We're fourteen years old. Old enough to take care of ourselves."

I entertain her idea a little as I have never snuck out before, and it shouldn’t be hard for me, since my room is on the ground floor. I eye my window from the bed. I can easily sneak out if I want to.

"But my mom… she won't be happy if she finds out." I voice my doubts.

"She won't find out. Look, get ready for the party and then get under your bed and cover yourself with bedsheets and pretend that you're asleep when she checks up on you, and when you're certain enough that she's off to sleep too, sneak out of your window. I'll be down the road, waiting for you." Ana says.

I don't even think twice before agreeing to her idea. That's a perfect plan. Mom will never find out, and I will be able to enjoy the party too, and this way I'll prove to her that I'm mature enough to handle myself at a party.

I smile triumphantly and head to my dresser to select the dress I want to wear for tonight.

"I Can't Believe We're Here!" Ana screams for the seventh time in the five minutes we've been here. What's her deal with all that screaming today?

I tune her screaming out as I take in the scene around me. The living room is roaring with music and voices. People are dancing and grinding against each other. My eyes go to the couple who's sucking each other's faces and making out on the couch and my cheeks immediately heat up.

This kind of scene is making me uncomfortable. I know high school parties are wild, but I never thought they were this wild. At least Ana's with me and I'm not alone. Guess that's why Will told me to bring Ana as he knew I would get uncomfortable alone.

I eye some of the girls and notice their skimpy dresses. They are so short, hardly covering their butt cheeks. Looking down at my clothes of simple black shorts and a white crop top with some cool white sneakers I bought a few days ago, I feel like I should've dressed up a bit.

I look at Ana and she's taking in the scene around her too. Her eyes are wide as she eyes all the hot boys in the school.

"Do you think this is the right time to lose my virginity? Because I think my vagina is screaming for some attention from all of these hot boys." She giggles, bubbling with excitement.

I pinch her forearm. "No bad shit, Ana," I warn her.

"No bad shit, I know. Come on, let's get a drink." She grabs my hand and drags me towards the built-in bar.

"Two Cokes, please." She orders from the bartender, with honey dripping from her voice.

"Why coke? Have a real drink, love." The guy winks at her and she giggles.

"We're not legally old enough to consume alcohol." She replies sweetly, batting her eyelashes.

"Oh! You both will easily pass enough to look eighteen, love. What's your name?"

"Anastasia and this is my friend, Avery." Ana motions over me and I smile at him.

He focuses his gaze on me and looks at me intently. "Oh, so you are Avery."

"Um, yeah. You said my name like, you've heard about me before." I say, looking at him warily.

"You're Will's Avery. We're good friends and he told me he's having a special guest over tonight. A girl named Avery. It's nice to finally meet you," he replies easily.

"Oh, thanks. Nice to meet you too," I say, ignoring the blush that's creeping up my neck, hearing the words, Will's Avery.

"Enjoy your drinks. See you around." He hands us our drinks and winks at Ana again.

I roll my eyes and turn around noticing that she has already caught the attention of a guy, while I can't even find the one who invited me. I walk over to the couch and take a seat, glad to see the couple who was making out is not here anymore. I roam my eyes around for Will and take a sip of my drink, guessing I won't be meeting him anytime soon.
