"I don't want explanations, just leave me alone!" Mei-Lin hung up the phone and sighed, almost throwing it across the terrace, but then reconsidered and just grunted loudly, shoving the phone into her pocket. "A hard day?" she turned her head startled and smiled. "Hi" Jungkook raised his beer in greeting. "Hey you too" Mei-Lin leaned back and stared at the night sky.
"Have you ever just wanted to disappear and never come back?" Jungkook almost laughed at the question. "I may have already" she looked at him with a smile and sighed. "I might as well" Jungkook raised an eyebrow. "Is it that serious?" he asked, looking at her curiously. "I'll get over it I guess," Mei-Lin mumbled so quietly that Jungkook wasn't sure if he heard her answer correctly.
"Boyfriend?" she looked at him and he tilted his head slightly. "An ex-boyfriend, stubborn and cheating" she nodded and he looked at her in surprise. He knew that feeling, most of the women in his life were the same. "I have an idea" she looked at him and her brows drooped. "An idea?" he nodded and grinned his bunny smile. "Wait for me out front after 5" he nodded and downed his beer in one gulp. "Are you going to kidnap me, because if yes, at least let it be across the ocean?" she laughed and he shrugged, winking at her before walking into his apartment.
"Dear God! Aren't you the most incredibly charming, wonderful and handsome man on earth!" Mei-Lin crouched down and scratched the ears of the brown Doberman who seemed to melt in her arms. "I'd like to think it's me" she looked up and studied him closely. "Sorry, you'll have to line up for him" she smiled and Jungkook burst out laughing. "What a hard fate, overshadowed by your own dog!" he made an indignant face and Mei-Lin giggled.
"What's his name?" she stood up and the dog started jumping around her. "Bam" Jungkook gave a low whistle and Bam stood in place, nodding expectantly. "Come on, he needs a walk and we need a distraction" Mei-Lin nodded and they both followed the bouncing Bam towards the elevator again. "I didn't know you had a dog, I never heard him bark" Jungkook stroked Bam's mane proudly. "He's a good and obedient boy" he confirmed proudly, and Mey-Lin looked at the huge brown eyes and playfully lolling tongue.
"He's definitely gorgeous" Jungkook let her pass in front of him and petted Bam as he walked past, entering the elevator after them, pressing the button for the ground floor. "How long have we been neighbors, until last night I didn't even know that the apartment had a tenant?" Mei-Lin smiled and shrugged. "Three days" she looked down as Bam spun around her legs and almost pushed her into Jungkook's arms. "Be a gentleman, Bam!" he snapped softly and the dog looked at him innocently.
"Don't treat him like that, he's so cute" she pouted at him but looked at Bam with a bright look and Jungkook smiled shaking his head. "Lucky, the most beautiful women are always for him" he murmured and Mei-Lin looked at him with a raised eyebrow but her cheeks turned red. Fortunately, opening the door saved her from having to answer.
"Here" Jungkook reached into his pocket and handed her a yellow ball. Mei-Lin smiled and tossed the ball in front of the dog's eyes, tossing it and giggling as Bam ran over to chase after it. "Thanks, I really needed that" she leaned back and snuggled into the light vest. Jungkook looked back, elbows on his knees, and winked at her. "No problem, Bam is used to dealing with stress" Mei-Lin raised her eyebrows.
"You don't look like the type of man who gets stressed often" Jungkook laughed and shook his head. "You'd be surprised how many things I don't look like" he looked at Bam running towards their bench and waited for him, giving him the command to sit, then took the ball from his mouth, stood up and rubbed it between his hands, looking at the dog. "Are you ready buddy?" Bam stood up and wagged his tail enthusiastically. Jungkook got a little stronger and threw the ball hard, and Bam took off after it.
Mei-Lin looked at him curiously. "I guess not everyone looks like what they are" she sighed, eyeing the leather rocker jacket, black ripped jeans, and low black boots. Jungkook turned and the piercing on his eyebrow jumped. "Let me guess, under the charming facade of a cute college girl is a magical princess on the run from a dark, terrifying king who wants to marry her by force?" Mei-Lin threw her head back and laughed, loud and high. "Almost, but I'm not a college girl" she winked at him and he sat down again, leaning back and stretching out his long legs, spreading his arms along the back of the bench.
"That's good, I don't want to get in trouble with angry dads chasing me for taking their little girl for a late walk in that dangerous park" he snarled and she laughed again. "There's no such danger, my father is about three continents away" Bam ran up again and dropped between her knees, offering her his ball. Mei-Lin scratched his muzzle and tossed it to him, watching him run after his toy.
"So you're alone?" he looked at her and leaned back, slightly slumping forward and bringing a leg up on his knee. "Yep" she watched Bam with a smile and Jungkook watched Mei-Lin. "And you?" she turned her hazel eyes on him and he shrugged. "I have six annoying hyung, you already know one, Taehyung and my dad, but he and I don't talk much, so it's unlikely you'll ever see him" Mei-Lin gasped in surprise. "You have six brothers!" Jungkook laughed, shaking his head.
"Only in heart and soul, but yes, they are actually more than brothers to me. At some point in my life, I owe each of them something" Mei-Lin let out a soft "Oh" and smiled, sighing as she raised her shoulders. "So you're lucky, I don't have siblings, not even that close friends" Jungkook tilted his head slightly. "Why not?" she looked at him again and her smile turned somewhat sad. "The jerk" she shrugged and Jungkook rolled his eyes.
"I understand being jealous of men, I'm jealous too, but to keep you away from your friends is too much" Bam trotted over to them again and Jungkook watched with a smile as his dog circled Mei-Lin. "Do you have a girlfriend?" Jungkook shook his head. "Why not, somehow I can't imagine a man like you being alone?" he looked at her with a smirk. "A man like me?" she blushed and looked away, wringing her fingers in her lap.
"I meant...in sense...I mean..." Jungkook laughed, patting her on the back. "Calm down, I know I'm sexy. What woman wouldn't fall for a motorcycle mechanic, with a Doberman, living in a cheap apartment and with anger and jealousy issues? I'm just irresistible!" he strutted like a cock, and she stared at him for a moment, then burst out laughing, almost falling off the bench. "Besides, I have a sense of humor" he added, his tongue flicking his cheek and his eyebrows bouncing arrogantly.
"I really don't know why you're alone" she continued to squirm with laughter, trying to catch her breath and wiping away her tears as Jungkook just stared at her in admiration. "I'm sorry, but you're really funny" their eyes met and she bit her lip, still smiling. "I guess even us cool ones don't always fall for the right ones. So, I know how you feel" she stopped smiling and looked away. "Sorry but she loses" Jungkook smiled standing up.
"I could say the same" he held out his hand to her and Mei-Lin hesitated but slid hers across his palm. "It's getting late, it's time to go home" she nodded and stood up. Jungkook smiled and whistled to Bam, who trotted after them, back to the building and their apartments. Jungkook didn't let go of her hand, he liked the feel of her small palm hidden in his big fist and her fingers between his.
"I'm going out with the boys tomorrow, do you want to come with us for a drink?" Mye-Lin looked up at him and patted Bam between the ears one last time, standing up. "I don't know, that friend of yours, with the huge smile and the desire to collect numbers, will be attending?" Jungkook burst out laughing. "I definitely have to tell him that description! But yeah, all six will be there, it'll be fun. Alcohol and a bar fight?" Mei-Lin thought, patting her chin.
"Come on, I promise not to let Taehyung cling to you, and if he tries, I'll say you're mine" he winked with a grin. "Yours?" their eyes made contact and Jungkook smirked, leaning against the doorframe of her apartment. "I assure you, after the fourth drink you will hear much worse things" she tried to laugh, but he leaned in a little more and her laugh came out as something between a choked giggle and a low growl.
"I guess you're right..." she whispered and Jungkook almost inhaled her breath. "Hopefully, you mean it's not bad to be mine?" Mei-Lin blushed so hard that Jungkook almost felt waves of heat wash over his face. "I'll rephrase my question" he ran his fingers along her cheek and she shivered visibly. "Do you want to be my girl tomorrow night while we watch my hyungs act like idiots at some bar?" his lips were a millimeter away from hers and she could barely catch her breath but managed to nod.
"Tomorrow at 9, dress like a motorcycle ride" she nodded again swallowing and Jungkook smirked, lifting her chin with two fingers. "Good girl" she blinked and held her breath, but Jungkook pulled away and whistled at Bam, who was trying to throw his ball down the hall by himself, growling at her. "See you tomorrow night, little star" he waved without turning and Mei-Lin let out the air she had been holding, trying to calm her breathing and heart.
