"He's an ass! He's such an ass," Donghyuck mumbled under his breath, changing the channels on the television.

"What are you mumbling?" Jaemin asked, looking at Donghyuck from the other couch.

"What an asshole Mark is," Donghyuck said, throwing the remote on the cushion next to him.

"Look, I know you're mad at Mark about something but don't take it out on my remote," Jaemin said, trying to lighten the mood, "She's just an innocent baby."

"Nana," Donghyuck said.

"What is it?"

"Men really are trash."

"What happened?" Jaemin asked, trying to hold back a smile at that off-handed, serious comment that Donghyuck made.

How was Donghyuck supposed to tell Jaemin that he had told Mark to keep his dick to himself and not have sex with anyone at the party for fear of exposing their fake contractual relationship, which then led to Mark leaving said party and coming back smelling of cheap alcohol, which then led to a fight that led to Mark telling Donghyuck that he was a slut.

"We had a fight," Donghyuck said.

"Again? Or is this a continuation of last night's fight?" Jaemin asked.

"Continuation that turned into a whole new fight," Donghyuck said.

"What happened?"

"I said something mean last night and he did something and then we fought and he said something mean today and I left and came here," Donghyuck rambled.

"Gee, don't go putting too many details in there, Hyuck," Jaemin said, rolling his eyes at how vague Donghyuck was being.

"I just don't want to talk about it," Donghyuck said, trying to use that as an excuse.

"Clearly you do," Jaemin said, "But something tells me that you can't more than you don't want to."

"What?"

"I'm not dumb," Jaemin said, "I can tell when my best friend has been hiding things from me."

"I'm not," Donghyuck lied.

"You've always been a shitty liar, Donghyuck," Jaemin said with a small smile.

"Nana..." Donghyuck said, not knowing what else to say.

"Just tell me this," Jaemin said, "Do you like him?"

"Mark?" Donghyuck asked.

"Yeah," Jaemin said, "Do you like him?"

"Of course I like him," Donghyuck said.

He wasn't lying.

Before the fight, Mark and him started getting along better and started to hang out more. Sure, it was because of the circumstances of being forced to live in one house together, but still.

Donghyuck could honestly stand up and proclaim that Mark Lee was his friend. They had begun to watch Netflix shows together, and cook for each other, and order takeaway together. They've done it so many times to the point where they both knew each other's orders by heart.

"Do you like him as more than a friend?" Jaemin asked, tearing Donghyuck away from his reverie.

Donghyuck paused, he didn't know.

His mind played back all the times that Mark has been there for him, all their shared laughter and hardships, late night coffee runs, and how Mark always looked at him differently than the others.

The realization hit like cold water to the face and something in Donghyuck's chest bloomed painfully, because he was completely, and wholeheartedly in love with Mark Lee.

That thought petrified him.

"Yeah," Donghyuck whispered, scared of the realization.

"That doesn't sound so confident to me," Jaemin said.

"Let's just watch the show," Donghyuck said, not even knowing what was on the television.

"Donghyuck," Jaemin said.

"Yeah?"

"You know you can tell me anything right?"

"I know," Donghyuck said.

"And you know I won't judge you for it, right?"

"I know that too, Nana."

"Donghyuck?" Jaemin said.

"Yeah, Nana?"

"Is this something Mrs. Lee is making you hide?" Jaemin asked.

"Yeah, Nana." Donghyuck said, not looking away from the television screen.

Mark was lying awake, staring at the ceiling in his room, playing and replaying the events of last night and this morning in his head, trying to figure out why he was so mad.

He still couldn't figure it out.

He wanted nothing more than to apologise to Donghyuck but pride and ego were getting in the way. He sighed, feeling confused, guilty and angry all at the same time.

He was marinating in emotions and he didn't know what to do about it. He had tried walking around the whole house three times to maybe find a solution, but couldn't. At one point, he had even changed in the hallway, hoping for a change of perspective and scenery. Eventually, he gave up and was now in bed.

He thought that he would sleep off the hangover and the headache that came with it, but with all the thoughts running in his head and the weight on his chest, there was no way he would even get a wink of sleep.

He wanted to apologise to Donghyuck, he really does, but he couldn't help but feel like Donghyuck had started the fight.

Sure, Mark didn't help by escalating it and leaving their party, which he admits was a bad decision, but it was Donghyuck's fault.

Right?

Maybe this was just another way to justify Mark's emotions and the way he was feeling, which was shitty, but it is what it is.

The sun had just set, enveloping his room in darkness.

Mark knew that he should maybe call Donghyuck, especially if he was with Renjun. He didn't know much about Renjun, but all he did know, was that Renjun was a manipulative, condescending, lying bastard.

To say he was worried that Donghyuck was there, would be a hell of an understatement.

Just before he could swallow his pride and convince himself to call Donghyuck, Mark heard the door rattle which made him jump from his bed and open his bedroom door. He went outside to the living room and saw Donghyuck coming in, closing the door behind him.

"You're back," He said.

"Doesn't mean I forgive you," Was the first thing out of Donghyuck's mouth.

"I wasn't-" Mark started to say but Donghyuck cut him off.

"I didn't want to come back," Donghyuck said.

"Then why did you?"

"Rule number one," Donghyuck said.

"Whatever happens, we can't run away from each other," Mark said.

"We have to talk it out," Donghyuck finished.

"So.." Mark said, awkwardly standing in front of Donghyuck.

"We have to talk it out..." Donghyuck repeated.

"Here?"

"I'm kind of hungry.." Donghyuck said.

"There's leftovers," Mark said.

"Shall we talk over dinner at the bar counter?" Donghyuck suggested.

"I'll heat up the food," Mark said, walking to the kitchen.

"I'm going to change," Donghyuck said, walking to his room.

Just as he was walking to go to his room, Donghyuck saw a crumpled piece of paper on the floor, jutting out of Mark's jeans that he had left when he was pacing around the house.

Donghyuck bent down to take a closer look.

At first he thought it was just song lyrics, judging from how it was just scribbled down like it meant nothing.

Then he opened it.

Donghyuck's first reaction was shock, which was quickly displaces with anger when he realised that what he was looking at was a Non-Disclosure Agreement dated today for the events that happened during the party.

"Donghyuck, dinner is in the microwave. Do you want to-" Mark said, walking to Donghyuck but stopping in his tracks when he realises what Donghyuck was holding, "Oh."

"This is why you left the party?" Donghyuck spat out, "And to think I felt guilty about what I said last night! Oh my god, I am so stupid! Why did I think that you had changed."

"I had changed?" Mark scoffed, "What is that supposed to mean?"

"God, Mark! I can't believe that I-"

"You're acting awfully high and mighty for someone who has just come back from a guy's house! You expect me to believe that nothing happened there? " Mark said.

"I wasn't at Renjun's house you asshole!" Donghyuck screamed, "And even if I was, it wasn't on the day of the frickin party! I asked you to do one frickin thing and you couldn't even do that! You're telling me that because I asked you not to sleep with anyone at the party, you leave to sleep with someone who isn't at the party? Please tell me how you putting your dick in the first person you see becomes my fault?"

"Oh sorry! I forgot little mister perfect over here can't make a mistake," Mark spat out, "My apologies, your highness."

"Just when I think you had changed..." Donghyuck said.

"Changed?" Mark said, "What exactly do you mean by that?"

"When I thought you had become less of an asshole!" Donghyuck yelled.

"So I'm an asshole because I had sex?" Mark said, anger radiating off him, "Now, every guy that has sex is an asshole to you just because one person treated you badly?"

Donghyuck's face fell, "Jaemin was wrong."

"When did Jaemin come into the picture?" Mark said, rolling his eyes.

"He was wrong when he said that I could work it out with you," Donghyuck told Mark, eyes glossing over with tears, "You are and forever will be an asshole, Mark."

Mark was just about to say something when he realised what he had said to Donghyuck. He couldn't understand why he kept hurting him. He couldn't understand why they kept hurting each other.

"I should have gone to Renjun's instead," Donghyuck said, walking away.

"Rule number one!" Mark shouted out behind him.

"I'm sure Alexia would love to talk to you!" Donghyuck screamed back slamming the door.

Mark hung his head in his hands, unable to understand how they went from being incredibly domestic and happy to screaming matches every time they saw each other.

God, they had set ground rules even before they were living together, yet none of them actually followed it.

Mark was supposed to apologise.

In his head, that was what he was doing, but somehow when he was in front of him, standing face to face with Donghyuck, he just wanted Donghyuck to feel the lack of faith that he showed him last night.

The reasoning was dumb and petty but somehow Mark wanted Donghyuck to believe that he wouldn't have slept with anyone at the party anyway. It was dumb mainly because he literally left said party to.

Or as Donghyuck said, put his dick in the first person he'd met.

Mark was confused and that confusion was causing him to be angry. That confusion was hurting him and Donghyuck.

Mark just wished that there was a way to somehow fix of all this. One that involved neither of them screaming at each other and storming off.
