Mark wanted to get home as soon as possible. He wanted to spend some alone time with Donghyuck before heading out to award show.
He had just exited the meeting room from the meeting he had with his manager, Jeno, and boss. It was something for filming some sponsorship commercials?
Much to Mark's relief, there was no one else waiting for the elevator and he didn't have to wait long for it to arrive to his floor and open for him. Maybe luck was on his side and he'd get home quickly.
Just as he pressed the button for the ground floor, he heard someone calling out. "Hold up!."
Jeno was running at full speed in the direction of the elevator.
Mark knew what he was expected to do. He should press on the button to hold the elevator open and wait for the other man to join him. It was the polite thing to do.
What Mark ended up doing, however, was pressing on the button to close the elevator and, when it didn't close straight away, he hit it a few more times for good measure.
Mark wasn't sure what compelled him to behave like that. He knew waiting a few seconds for Jeno to make it to the elevator would not make him get home faster. Something in his brain, though, told him not to hold the elevator open, and he listened to it.
What he wasn't expecting was for Jeno to make it inside with just a few seconds to spare. Mark never wanted the ground to swallow him up more than in that moment. He knew the other Jeno had seen him attempt to close the door instead of holding it open for him.
Just as Mark was about to open his mouth to say something, Jeno pushed every single button there was to press and looked at him with a smug face. Mark could do nothing but stare at him open-mouthed, unable to believe what happened.
"What the fuck did you do that for?"
Their company building had over twenty floors, they were on the top floor and Mark could see every hope of getting home soon evaporate before his eyes as the elevator kept moving higher.
"You realize it will take us forever to stop at every floor, right?"
"You started it," Jeno said, "I saw you hitting the close button instead of holding the door open for me and I wanted to get back at you for that."
"Great plan, dumbfuck" Mark snapped. "Now we're both stuck in this elevator waiting for it to stop going to every floor you've pressed."
Jeno rolled his eyes, but he didn't give Mark the satisfaction of getting into an argument with him. Instead, he sat down on the floor of the elevator and leaned his back against the wall.
"Might as well get comfortable; we'll be here a while," he said when he saw Mark staring at him.
Mark had every intention of standing up for the whole duration of the impromptu elevator trip, just to spite Jeno, but when he checked the monitor a few minutes later and saw they were still on the twentieth floor, he gave up and sat down.
"I hope you know how much I hate you for this. I was actually hoping to see Donghyuck before going to the awards ceremony," he said, trying to get comfortable.
"Well, you didn't have to be an asshole, you fucking bitch," the other replied. "As much as I don't want to be with you in the same elevator, I also wanted to get home early and maybe nap for a little bit."
"Well, shit, bitch, pressing on all the floor buttons would be counterproductive for you if you also wanted to get somewhere. Now you're stuck here with me."

A knock was heard on the studio door. Both Jaehyun and Lucas turned at the sound.
"I'll answer it," state Jaehyun as he pushes himself out of his spinny chair and heads towards the door.
The man opens the door to reveal a young man with perfect hair.
"Jungwoo!"
"Jaehyun!"
The two men hug as Lucas just watches from the background completely confused by who this very good looking dark-blue haired male is.
"How are you, Jungwoo? And how's the fam back at home?"
"I'm doing good. It's been a little hectic with the moving and everything, but I've finally got the most of everything unpacked. Everyone at home is doing pretty great too. Everyone's just kinda happy that Mark's and Donghyuck's scandal got handled. They really like the boy, you know." Jungwoo answered with complete honesty.
"Well, that's really good. If I may ask, what are you doing here at the studio tho?" Jaehyun wondered.
At this question, Jungwoo seemed to remember something, quickly handing the paper bag he was holding to Jaehyun.
"Grandma made a lot of dishes and asked me to bring some over to Mark. I don't really know his address. Donghyuck is kinda busy right now, and Mark won't answer his phone, so I came here instead. Could you possibly give these to him sometime soon?"
"Oh yeah, absolutely. I'll take care of it. Don't worry"
"Thanks, Jaehyun! Well, I got to go now anyway! I still have a lot of work to do. See you guys around!"
"Bye! It was nice to see you, man!"
Jungwoo waved as he headed out the studio door. He closed the door behind him.
Jaehyun turned around and placed the paper bag on the coffee table behind him.
Lucas then faced Jaehyun and asked, "Who is he?"
----------
"What do you mean it's my fucking fault?" shouted Mark.
"How in God's name isn't it?" Jeno snarled, "You were the one who kept pressing the button to close the door! I just paid you back in full measure!"
"Shit happens! You learn to deal with it, why couldn't you just have stood and just let us ride the elevator in peace? You can't go blaming everyone else for every tiny thing that happens!"
Shaking his head, Jeno roared "But it's not just that, is it? If you stayed in your own fucking lane for a change then we wouldn't have half the issues that we all have!"
"What's that supposed to mean?" Mark retorted.
"You've always got an opinion, haven't you? Always got something to say that isn't wanted by anyone, always sticking your nose in where it doesn't belong. You've just got no idea what proper manners are!"
"Well, what about you?" Mark challenged, "Everything I do is a problem for you, you can't just let me live my goddamn life for one day!"
Jeno huffed. "I wouldn't need to get on your back if you'd just act like an adult for a change and not some child who hasn't aged a day since the sixteenth century!"
"Oh my gosh! Shut the fuck up! You have no right!"
"I can't imagine what sort of parent you'd have made if you can't grow up yourself," Jeno commented, voice carelessly casual.
Mark recoiled as if he'd been stung, but refused to leave without getting the last word. Against his morals and his better judgment, he shouted: "Well, what about you? You don't even fucking have any"
Mark regretted the words immediately, but there was nothing to be done as they hung heavy in the air between them. Parents were a sensitive topic to Jeno since both had passed away about 3 years ago when he was only 20. His mother because of cancer and his father a few days later because of heartbreak.
"Oh, you just don't know when to quit, do you," Jeno hissed.
"Clearly not if I'm such a child," Mark snapped, but there was hardly any bite to it since his anger had deserted him and left only guilt in its wake.
Wanting to get out of there as soon as possible he turned towards the elevator door only to see it closed.
The elevator had stopped moving without any of them noticing during their screaming match.
They were stuck.
"What is it?" Jeno's voice sounded behind him, quiet and wary rather than furious as he'd been before.
"Elevator stopped. We're stuck in here," he said, risking looking round to meet Jeno's gaze.
Jeno paused for a moment then shook his head. "The front of the company staff will still be here, we should just call them-"
He was interrupted by a ring from the elevator's monitor. "Hello?"
"Yes? Hello?"
A sigh was heard, "Okay, we're currently working on the problem. It's nothing serious. You should start moving in an hour tops. Please sit tight until then"
"Okay, ma'am. Thank you!"
The elevator was plunged into complete silence.
To Mark's surprise though, Jeno broke the silence with only emptiness in his voice.
"I'm sorry," he said, making Mark glance down towards him. "For blaming you. It wasn't your fault."
Mark only blinked at him for a moment, before clearing his throat roughly. "It was though," he muttered, "It always was. I'm not surprised you blame me for everything, I deserve it really."
"No."
"But-"
"No," Jeno repeated harder, and Mark's protests fell quiet. "I'm not just talking about now. Back then too. It was never your choice to be in a relationship with that bitch, and definitely not your fault for trying to protect yourself. Even if that means pushing me away. You did what you had to do to survive. I don't hold that against you."
Silence followed Jeno's serious words, with Mark shocked at the younger's confession.
Mark watched Jeno through wide eyes for a moment, letting out a quiet "Oh,".
A quiet laugh came from Jeno. "You're more important to me than you think you are, Mark. I'm sorry for everything."
"I'm sorry too, Jeno. Ever since that argument we had -what 2 years ago?- we've been digging this hole deeper and deeper without even wanting to. It was just something that came involuntarily. I know you grew up in a loving family, and I know it hurts. Losing one parent is already har, I could only imagine the pain of losing both. I really hope that you can accept my apology. I'll try and be a better bandmate from now on."
"A brother"
"What?"
"Not a bandmate, and not just a friend. A brother. That's what you really are."
Mark and Jeno both smiled at each other. Smiling so wide their eyes disappeared as their eyes became tiny thin slits.
Mar held out his hand, "Brothers?"
"Brothers, "Jeno confirmed with a little nod of his head as he lifted up his hand to grab Mark's hand and pull him into a hug.
