Two Days

(Oh hey, I'm back! Wow, that didn't take nearly as long as I thought it would)

Three days. Three long, agonizing days since she had spoken to him. Not a single word. Not a single text. Heck, she didn't even glance in his direction. It was as if she had forgotten he existed. And honestly, it hurt him. He knew she was upset, I mean, she said it herself that he was being an unfair hypocrite.

But she was being unfair, too. Had she not realised that he only did it so it wouldn't create a void in her family? He didn't tell her, because it wasn't his business to. Why couldn't she understand that?

Megan was in pain, too. If he kept something like this from her, and she didn't even realise... what else was he keeping from her? And, would she have the inner strength to find out?

It makes you wonder... Who is really in the wrong here?

---

It was now tuesday, and the dance studio was buzzing like it usually was. It was obvious no one else was affected by the events that took place during the weekend. Well... except for the friends of the two... lovers?

Honestly I cannot tell what they are right now...

"Megan." Lillie called, catching the blonde-brunette's attention just as she finished her stretches. Megan turned to her, her now dull eyes meeting the younger's as she addressed her.

"Yeah? What's up?"

The blonde uncrossed her arms, instantly pointing over to her brother who looked as if no time had passed since he joined the course. He was leaning against the wall, his headphones on as his hands remained inside the pockets of his jeans. "What's up is the fact that Gladion has been miserable since Saturday. And since you haven't been talking like, at all since then, plus the fact you look like Netflix cancelled Voltron, I think I can assume you have something to do with it."

Megan had lost interest as soon as Gladion's name left her mouth, but she proceeded to look up at the boy. She scoffed "Well I don't know what he's moping about. He's not the one who's had something kept from him by someone he thought he could trust."

"So something did happen between you two?"

"Why don't you ask him about it?" She spat "Because I most definitely do not want to talk about him."

As if hearing her words Gladion's eyes shot open, catching Megan's gaze with his. Instantly she averted her eyes, fists clenching at her sides as she glared down at the floor. He gritted his teeth, resisting the urge to go over there and tell her how hurt he was, because secretly... He believed he deserved the neglect. Even if it hurt him.

---

"Well well, if it isn't the class boy toy." A voice mused from behind Gladion "What's got you so down in the dumps all of a sudden?"

The blonde clenched his jaw, pivoting around to glare at the presence "What the hell did you just call me?"

The other smirked, tweaking his glasses while folding his other arm over his chest "I think you know exactly what I'm talking about, Aether. The way you get around women, making them feel good and then leaving them for the next." He let out an eary chuckle "Three girls within one term. Wow, I think you're the fastest man slut I've known."

"What are you talking about, Leven?"

"I'm talking about the Aether Ball. Where you supposedly hooked up with Joyce Garcìa's first and only daughter." Leven took out his phone, displaying a picture supposedly taken on the night of the ball. It was the moment when Sadie was leading him away from his friends by the hand "No wonder Megan isn't talking to you right now."

Gladion's fists clenched, his fingernails digging into his palms as he continued to glare at the blue haired male "That isn't what happened at all. Where did you even get that?"

"A friend of mine was attending the occasion, but that's not important." Leven placed his phone back into his pocket "If it isn't how it seems, how can you explain the sudden silent treatment that girl has suddenly bestowed upon you?"

"Why does it matter?"

"It just seems odd, you two were tight. I had started to think you were an item... But I guess not, by the way you two are acting. Can't say I'm surprised, though. That dirtbag's nothing special."

Gladion growled and grabbed the boy's collar, lifting him up slightly "Do not speak about her in such a way."

Leven smirked "Why do you care? Are you her boyfriend or something?"

He paused. Right now... he wish he knew the answer to that

With a scoff Gladion pushed the other male away, turning his head to the side as finally unclenched his fists "What did Sun ever see in you?"

"Beats me," he shrugged, a dark expression taking over his features "He should've known that liking someone like me would only result in heartbreak. I suppose we're alike in some way, Aether."

"We are nothing alike."

"You say that now..."

Leven turned, giving Gladion one final look over his shoulder before beginning to walk away from him "Well anyway, I've said I'll that I wanted to say. But don't think you're out of the woods just yet, lover boy...

Things are just getting started."

---

Gladion walked down the hallway with a glum expression, occasionally looking down at his palms which still had nail marks from gripping them too tightly. He sighed, trying his best not to dwell on Leven's words too much as he knew the boy just liked to wind people up.

As he turned the corner, someone walked out of room at the same time.

Megan made eye contact with him for a moment, surprised there was someone in the halls as classes had been dismissed. The only reason she was here was because she volunteered to clean one of the studios. However, when she saw who it was her eyebrows knitted together, and she began to walk away from him without a word.

Nope. Not this time.

Gladion made a quick movement so he stood in front of her, blocking her escape with his body "Where are you going?"

The girl turned her head away, refusing to meet his eyes "Home, duh."

He was probably going to regret asking this, but it was worth a shot "Do... you want a ride?"

Megan let out a scoff, her arms folding over her chest in a manner that screamed rejection. However, her expression soon changed, making her seem more sad than angry. Finally, she looked up at him.

"Fine. But no talking..."

Gladion exhaled. That was progress, right?

The two of them made their way down the stairs and out of the building, not speaking a word to each other as Megan had conditioned. The girl made sure there was at least a five foot gap between the two, and her eyes never left the pavement. Even that caused a pang in Gladion's chest. As soon as they made it to the car Gladion opened the door for her, as he always had done, allowing her to climb into the front passenger seat.

Gladion started the car after clambering into the drivers seat, taking ahold of the wheel and steering the vehicle out of the parking space and onto the road. Again, no words were spoken.

Well... It wouldn't be that way for long. Gladion was going to make sure of that.

Five minutes into the journey Gladion suddenly pulled over, exhaling deeply as his eyes remained focused ahead "I can't do this..."

Megan's eyes widened, her hands clasping together on her lap "I thought I--"

"I don't care, I want to know why you've been avoiding me." He gripped the steering wheel tighter, turning to face her with a pained expression "I know you're upset, you have every right to be. But this... this treatment, it's killing me. I only did what I thought was right, didn't I already express that to you?"

The girl was slightly taken aback, but she nodded softly "Y-You did..."

"So why? Why are you acting mad just for the sake of it?" He punched the wheel "Why are you pushing me away, again?!"

...

Megan didn't know what to say, she didn't realise that her actions had hurt him that much. How can a couple of days of them not talking be so much of a problem for him? And, how did he know... that she wasn't really mad? Was she that easy to read? Or did he just know her that well... In the end, all that she could say was

"I'm sorry..."

Gladion lifted his head slightly, glancing at her through his hair as she continued.

"You're right, I'm not mad. I just kept that charade, because I thought it would keep us from talking about what happened. I know we'll have to talk about it eventually, but..."

"But?"

"... I'm just scared, and I don't even know why!"

Megan turned towards the window, finding that Gladion was now staring directly at her from his reflection. He looked concerned, but he remained silent as if to let her say what needed to be said in her own time.

"Look... I'm really bad with my emotions." She began again "I tend to lock them away, but sometimes I overreact when unnecessary. That's probably why... if we talked, I may blow a fuse and put you through way more than you should. Right now, it's inevitable. I think what I'm trying to say is... I want to talk to you, and I want to forgive you... but I'm just not ready yet."

It was Gladion's turn to be lost for words. He assumed that she was doing it all out of spite, to get back at him for keeping secrets. But it seems, that was not the case. It was true he wanted to talk to her about what happened, but only if she would cooperate within her own free will. He wouldn't make her, not until she was ready.

"Two days."

His eyes flickered to her yet again "What?"

"Give me two days," She repeated "To be left alone so I can think and prepare. After two days I promise you that we will talk, even if I'm not comfortable."

"You don't have to--"

"Yes, I do. I've made you suffer enough." She turned to him, smiling painfully "Just give me two days, and after that I'll hear you out. No distractions. No facades. No interrupting your reasoning. I'll keep an open mind and a closed mouth, and I won't jump to conclusions. I won't run away. If I'm still not ready, then that's on me, because I already know... you wouldn't do anything to hurt me."

Gladion's eyebrows arched downwards, his hands twitching as they longed to reach for her. However he refrained himself, as he knew that even talking to him right now was a stretch. As much as he wanted things to go back to normal, what she asked for seemed to be no more than a small sacrifice. As agonising as staying away from her would be, he was willing to do it if it meant she would hear him out.

He sighed in defeat "Two days, that's all the time you'll need?"

"I promise."

"Alright, I guess I can agree with that... No take backsies, got it?"

The childish statement made her purse her lips together, stifling a giggle "Yep."

He smiled slightly "Then, alright. I'll leave you be... but just so you know it won't be easy for me."

"You'll survive without my awesomeness for a while."

He scoffed "On second thought, I'll be fine. Now, let's get you home."

Gladion moved onto the road again, finding a bit of closure knowing that they had come to an agreement as he drove to Megan's home. He pulled up to the complex, not saying a word as he figured she would just climb out.

But she didn't.

Instead she leaned towards him, planting a gentle kiss on his cheek before opening the car door.

"Bye..."

"B-Bye."

And with that she left him, running towards the building and her apartment as he just watched. When she was out of sight he placed a hand on his cheek, his heart throbbing painfully as he began to reverse out of the car park.

Who was he kidding? How on earth was he gonna accomplish two days without her?
