I got you
Megan and Gladion walked down the pathway, conversing about small simple things. Like bands they'd recommend and favourite fast food restaurants. Things they'd never have spoken to each other about during their little... conflict.
Well anyway, they soon found themselves in front of Megan's apartment, but the girl didn't fish her keys out yet. She turned to face her friend, both of them standing with nothing but the welcome mat between them, and she smiled.
"I had fun. We should do this again sometime, yeah?"
The proposition caused Gladion's heart to flutter, as his lips slowly curled upwards "I'd like that."
Silence...
How were these things supposed to end again? A hug? A high five? A weird handshake?
The two awkwardly averted their gazes, Gladion rubbing the back of his neck while Megan glanced down at her twiddling thumbs.
"So..." The blonde finally said, breaking the awkward quiet they had fallen into "Call you later?"
Megan raised an eyebrow "You don't have my number."
"Think again." Gladion held up his phone, showing a contact displaying the girl's number "Lillie gave it to me a while back. I never used it because... you know." His eyes fell to the doormat "But, I still put it in to get her off my back."
Gladion expected a sarcastic remark to come next, but all he got was silence. He glanced up at Megan, only to find her glaring at his phone screen with narrowed eyes.
"What?"
She clicked her tongue "'Sarcastic brat' huh?"
Shit.
Gladion's face heated up from embarrassment. He had forgotten he had set her contact as that.
"...I'll change that."
She shook her head with a smirk "Nah, keep it. It's... fitting."
"O...kay..."
"But anyway." The girl cleared her throat as she fished her key out from her pocket "Text me later, and I may respond. If I feel like conversing with you, that is."
Gladion scoffed, lips quirking upwards.
As she unlocked the door, Megan sent him that smile that always makes his heart go doki doki.
"Well... later..."
Before she could turn the knob Gladion grabbed her shoulder. She turned to him, slightly taken aback.
"You okay?"
Gladion didn't answer. Instead he leaned in towards her face, before pausing when their lips were an inch apart. His half lidded eyes seemed to be calculating something, like he wasn't really sure what he was doing. Megan's chest began fluttering as his breath tickled her skin.
Is he gonna...
After a moment Gladion sighed in defeat and moved upwards, softly planting his lips on her forehead and pulling away. He released her shoulder and began walking in the opposite direction.
"Later..."
Megan was frozen. She couldn't move even if she wanted to. All she could do was watch Gladion's back as he gradually grew smaller.
However, when he was gone, she broke out into a blushing mess.
EHHHHHHHHHH?!
She touched her forehead, which still tingled from his lips. Steam was practically coming out of her ears she was so flustered.
He just kissed my dang forehead!
The moment continued to play out in her head. It didn't help her... overheated state.
But... for a moment... it looked like he was going to--
She slapped her cheeks, waking herself up before she got any ideas "Whatever... that was fine... I'm fine..."
Her hand missed the keyhole. Twice.
.
.
.
"Yep."
---
"Ughhhhhhhhhhh!"
Gladion collapsed onto his bed and planted his face into the pillow, yelling a few swear words at himself into it.
I kissed her forehead...
Oh my God I kissed her forehead!!
He didn't even know how it happened. All she did was smile at him and he lost all self control.
At least it wasn't on the lips...
"Still though..." Gladion rolled over onto his back, staring up at the ceiling as he touched his lips. The fact they still tingled caused his face to heat up "Why would I even think about doing that? Why would I think about kissing her?"
An image popped up in his head. He and Megan were standing by the railing of a bridge, facing each other. But then, he reaches up suddenly, cupping her cheeks in his hands. His thumb brushes across her bottom lip as he leans in. Megan leans in too, placing one of her hands on top of his while the other is placed on his chest. They lean in closer... and their lips are inches apart--
"Gladion!"
And then the image disappeared.
Gladion shot up into a sitting position, his face burning as he glanced over at the door. His sister leaned against the doorframe with a quizzical expression.
"Are you okay?"
His eyes widened. He raised a fist to his face in attempts to hide the pink hue "Y-Yeah, I'm fine."
"You sure?" Lillie tilted her head "Because it looks like you just kissed your crush or something."
Gladion flinched.
"Wait. Did that happen?!"
"N-No!"
She hummed, obviously not believing him "Well anyway. The gang and I are going out tonight, and we were wondering if you wanted to come."
Gladion eyed her for a moment "Out?"
"Yep."
"Out where?"
"You--"
"Don't even think about saying 'you'll see'. I want to know, because I don't want you going to some college house party with drugs and alcohol."
Lillie almost choked "We aren't going to a house party! Do you really think my friends are the type to do that stuff?"
Now that Gladion thought about it, no. None of her friends looked like they would, nore did it seem like they ever had done. Hau was too innocent, both inside and out. Sun cared too much about his friends to even think about it. Rose always seemed disgusted whenever she was near someone smoking. And Megan hated alcohol.
Besides... Gladion didn't want to believe she would.
"Then, where are you going?"
Lillie grinned "A dance club in town. Rose's boyfriend is a DJ there, and he invited us to come down. We really want you to come."
"We?" Gladion raised an eyebrow.
"Me, Rose, Sun, Hau and Megan, of course!"
Megan wants him to...
He turned away, hiding his red face from his sister "When?"
"Uhh... about 7:30-ish."
"Fine. I'll come."
Lillie squealed and ran out of his room, yelling out a thank you halfway down the hall before going to tell the gang. Gladion chuckled slightly at that, before flinching when his sister popped her head through the door again.
"By the way you're the only one with the car, so you're gonna have to give everyone a lift."
Aw man he should've known...
"Get out."
"Kay... are you still gonna--"
"Lillie."
"Right. Sorry. Bye."
Gladion rolled his eyes and fell back on his bed. He extended his arm out to the ceiling, for no reason in particular, and stared up at his clenched fist. However, he instantly lowered it to cover his mouth to hide his blush from no one. He had made the mistake of thinking about the night to come, and the fact he'd be spending it with a particular dance student. Not just her, but still.
Things were about to get interesting.
---
Gladion drummed his fingers against the steering wheel, his gaze switching from the interior mirror, where he could see the faces of the passengers in the back, and the apartment complex he was parked in front of.
"Seriously, where is she?"
Rose had been complaining about her friend's tardiness for a few minutes now. Obviously she was eager to get going, but it was uncertain whether it was because of the dancing, or her boyfriend. Lillie clicked her tongue and looked up from her phone, which was the car's only source of light at the moment since the sun had gone down.
"She said she was trying to find her eyeliner." She claimed "Though... that was like, five minutes ago."
Sun groaned, slapping his hand over his forehead "Her and her eyeliner! Is she trying to make the blueness of her eyes stand out or something?"
"Yes." Everyone except Gladion answered in unison.
"Wait," Hau leaned forward from his spot in the middle seat "I think that's her."
"It's her." Lillie confirmed.
The five watched as the final member of their group approached the car. She paused when Rose rolled down the window on her side, raising an eyebrow at the girl's smug grin.
"Get in loser, we're going dancing."
Megan quietly snorted at the Mean Girls reference, before glancing past Rose to her other friends and furrowing her brows "Why are you all crammed into the back?"
"Oh," Lillie grinned, leaning forward so she could be seen and wiggling her eyebrows "We figured we'd let you sit in the front, so you could sit next to your boyfriend."
"He's not my boyfriend!" Megan snapped, with Gladion yelling 'I'm not her boyfriend!" at the same time. Both of their faces had instantly turned pink. Their friends snickered.
"Suuuuuure."
"I'm not arguing with you..." Megan sighed before opening the door to the passenger seat and climbing in. She strapped herself in, sending Gladion a smile in greeting in the process. He happily returned it before reversing his car.
"To the club!" Hau declared excitedly.
"To the club!!" Everyone, even Gladion echoed, laughing afterwards.
---
"I changed my mind. I'm not going in."
"Whaaat?!" Lillie whined, snapping her head towards her brother "Why not?!"
Gladion took a step back "This place is way too crowded, and we haven't even gone inside yet."
"Well yeah," Rose crossed her arms "This is a club."
Gladion grimaced.
With a sigh Lillie rested a hand on his shoulder "Gladion, you'll be fine. Just stick with us, and have fun. The whole point of tonight is to stick together, so we aren't going to disappear on you."
"Yeah! And besides," Sun nudged Megan towards him "If you get scared, you can hold Megan's hand."
"Sun!" The girl squeaked, cheeks red.
Gladion glanced away, also blushing, and muttered "Okay..."
Everyone stared for a moment "What was that?" Rose asked, cupping a hand around her ear.
"I said okay..." The bashful boy repeated "it might help..."
Megan squeaked again, covering her mouth with her hand. Everyone else however was smirking at the pair.
"Great! Now that's settled," Lillie began as she grabbed Hau's hand. Rose grabbed Sun's at the same time "Let's dance!"
They rushed off despite Gladion's yell of protest, leaving their OTP to see themselves in. Megan sighed, running a hand through her hair and turned to the male.
"I... suppose we should follow them..."
He silently nodded.
"Then come on," She held a hand out to him, which he stared at in confusion. She smiled gently at him, despite the blush stretching across her face "You said this would help you, right?"
His blush grew, but he wrapped his hand around hers before averting his gaze.
"Thanks..."
Megan nodded and began leading the male towards the club, only to feel his grip tighten with every step.
"Gladion," he flinched at his name being called.
"You don't need to worry. I got you."
