Her smile
"Megan, time to get up!"
Megan groaned, rolling over in her bed and covering her eyes with an arm. It was Monday, and since Luke was feeling much better she didn't need to cover for him any more. Meaning she had to go to college. Meaning people would have to see her beaten up face! Unless...
"Hey, Luke!"
"Yeah?"
"Does Laura still keep her makeup in her room?"
"Uhh, I think so, why?"
"Because I don't want to look like a bruised potato in college, duh!"
"Oh. Right. I'll go check for you!"
"Thanks, bro!"
She sat up, running a hand through her hair before swinging herself out of bed. She grabbed her Godrath Unearthed shirt, red flannel and a pair of black leggings, and changed into them. No point in showering, she would come home sweating anyway. She put her hair up in a ponytail, and slipped on a pair of Assassin's creed socks.
There was a knock on her door "Meg, you decent?"
"Yep!"
Luke entered the room, a medium cream bag in his hand "Is this what you were talking about?"
She nodded, skipping over to him and taking the bag "That's the one. Thanks."
"No worries." He left, closing the door behind him.
Megan went over to her mirror, applying just enough makeup to cover the bruises, but making it look subtle enough to look realistic. No need to go out of her way to look pretty. Her phone buzzed, and she rolled onto her bed to pick it up. A text from Lillie:
Lillie:
U done getting ready?
Megan:
Uhhhhh, yeah why?
Lillie:
Great! Come outside we got a surprise
Megan:
We?
Lillie:
Enough chit-chat, get out here!!!!!
Megan:
Okay Damn!
Megan scrunched her nose up in confusion, but jumped off her bed and grabbed her backpack before heading for her door "Hey Luke, Lillie's outside toss me my sandwiches!"
Luke rolled his eyes, tossing her something wrapped in tin foil "Have fun in college."
"Have fun lifting boxes." She retorted, slipping on her converse.
Megan ran down the stairs, finally making it to the bottom of the complex when she spotted her best friend.
"Alright Lillie I'm out, what is it that you wanted to-- *Gaaaaasp*" Her jaw dropped as soon as she saw what Lillie was leaning against "You got a car?!"
Lillie grinned "Actually, Gladion did."
"Yup, she's mine," Gladion stated proudly as he got out of his shiny black Sedan, running a hand over the front "Ain't she a beauty?"
"Hell to the frickin' yeah!" Megan squealed, running around the car twice "Sooooo cool!"
"You want a ride to college?"
She stopped and turned to Gladion, mouth agape "You serious?!"
He grinned, opening the door to the back "Hop right in, m'lady."
She squealed again, running over to hug him "You're seriously the best!"
Gladion laughed, hugging her back. They pulled away, staring at each other for a moment, before blushing and looking away. Megan got into the car, and Gladion closed the door behind her before getting into the driver seat. Meanwhile Lillie hopped into the passenger seat.
"Ain't nobody gonna take my car; I'm gonna race it to the ground! Ain't nobody gonna beat my car; I'm gonna break the speed of sound!" Lillie and Megan sang- well, yelled at the top of their lungs. Whereas Gladion tried his best not to bash his head against the steering wheel, they were that bad.
"Can you guys give it a rest? I'm trying to drive here!" He yelled.
"Oo, sounds like someone's not a morning person~" Megan teased.
"Or a traffic person." Lillie added.
"Or a people person." Megan continued.
"Or a person in general." Lillie giggled.
"Alright I get it, you can stop now." Gladion growled, causing the girls to snicker.
The rest of the ride was silent. Well, until Gladion turned on the radio and Panic! At the Disco came on, to which all three of them silently bobbed their heads to. As soon as Gladion found a place to park they walked the rest of the way, which was only like a minute of walking.
"Hey! Lillie, Megan, Gladion, sup!" Hau yelled, running up to them along with Sun and Rose. Gladion frowned.
"So I'm last, huh?" He grumbled, crossing his arms.
"Do you have to complain about everything?" Megan asked, turning to him with narrowed eyes.
"I don't complain about everything, Ms. piggy in the middle."
Sun snorted, earning a glare from said girl.
After a moment of banter and sly comments the gang headed inside, talking about choreography and other dance course shenanigans. They walked into the dance studio and began prepping for class.
"Sooooo..." Lillie slides over to Megan, who was currently doing high knees "What was going on with you and my brother earlier?"
Megan almost slipped, causing her to hold onto the railing on the side "I'm... not sure what you mean." She said nervously.
"Oh come ooooon! The smiling? The hugging? The blushing?" The blonde nudged her side "Any of that ring a bell?"
Megan averted her eyes "Nope."
Lillie huffed "Fine, then I guess I won't tell you what Gladion said about you in the car."
"Wait what?!"
"So long!" Lillie rushed off with a mock salute, ignoring Megan yelling her name as she went to find Hau. Megan stood there dumbfounded, a small blush appearing on her cheeks.
She felt an elbow rest on her shoulder.
"My sister giving you a hard time?" Gladion asked, also looking in the direction Lillie went. Megan sighed, exasperated.
"Yep. She literally said you were talking about me in the car, and then did a roadrunner." She slowly turned her head to him, eyes narrowed "Which reminds me, what exactly did you say? And be careful what you say; Talk shit, get hit."
Gladion's face immediately heated up, his arm dropping from her shoulder "I-I, uh... have no idea what she's talking about."
"Is that so?"
"Y-Yeah, Lillie was probably just trying to get a reaction out of you and--"
"Gladion."
Fuck no not that tone. "Y-Yes?"
"I know you're lying." Megan had a dangerous smirk on her face.
"Uuuuuuh... okay listen for a moment, if we can just--" Gladion cut himself off, dashing off in a random direction to ditch Megan.
"GLADION AETHER GET THE FUCK BACK HERE!"
---
"I don't get it, why's he gotta give us so much homework?!" Megan ranted, holding her arms out in front of her as she walked down the sidewalk. Lillie, Rose and Gladion were with her, all containing their amusement as they watched her face grow redder from anger.
"Well, think about it this way," Gladion spoke up, finally able to keep a straight face "Kukui wants to give us as much chance to be pro dancers as possible. You can't do that with skill alone."
"Why not?"
"Well, can a bunch of high kicks determine the length of a stage, or can twists and flips help you when a dancer has an injury?" He asked "Being a dancer is about so much more than just dancing. You gotta know how to make it safe, how to make a show, and how to take action when something goes wrong."
By now the three girls were staring at him wide eyed, mouths agape while he continued to explain. When he noticed this his cheeks tinted pink, and he reached up to rub the back of his neck.
"D-Does that make sense?" He asked bashfully.
So. Freaking. Cute!!!
"I guess so." Megan sighed "Still don't know how I'll accomplish it, though."
"Well I'm sure Gladion has a few pointers for you." Rose suggested, smug written all over her face as she nudged the boy "Perhaps he could tutor you."
"What?" Both Megan and Gladion whipped their heads round to face her, faces getting redder each second.
Lillie clapped her hands together "That's a great idea!"
"Wait hold on--"
"Okay then it's settled!" Rose beamed. Both her and Lillie were inching away "Have fun you two!"
And with that they were gone in a cloud of dust, leaving two very flustered teens on the sidewalk. They were silent for a moment, until Megan turned to Gladion with a solemn smile.
"You don't actually have to help me study, you know." She said "I'm sure I can somehow manage--"
"That won't be necessary." Gladion turned to her "I'll help you with your homework."
Her eyes widened "You will?"
"Yeah..." he looked to the side, embarrassed "I mean, that's what friends do right? Help each other?"
Friends, huh?
Megan sighed, but still gave him a smile "Thanks Gladion. It means a lot."
He stared at her for a moment, taking in her expression, before giving her a small smile back. They made it to his car and got in, closing the doors at almost the exact same time. They snickered slightly at that.
"So," Gladion spoke up, turning on the car "My place or yours?"
"I'd say mine," Megan leaned against the window "For all we know those little shippers may be at your place, planning ways to make this a romantic anime scene or something."
"How could it--"
"You ever seen Toradora?"
"Yeah but- ohhhhh. Fair enough."
Gladion began to pull out of the parking space, only to smash his foot onto the breaks as another car zoomed past. He let out an angry hiss and hit the steering wheel.
"What the actual fuck, dude?! Can't you see I'm driving here?!"
Megan couldn't help it. She threw herself back into her seat and bursted out in a fit of laughter, with one palm pressed to her head. Gladion turned to glare at her.
"What are you laughing at?" He hissed.
"Sorry- it's just- pffsh. I never thought you of all people would get road rage." She explained, wiping a tear from her eye.
Gladion grunted, reaching over to lightly hit her shoulder before attempting to pull out again.
Guess what. Another car sped past, and Gladion had to jolt the car to a halt again.
"Oi do you fucking need glasses or something?! Learn how to fucking drive, ya damn prick!" Megan screamed, her hands still on her cheeks from the shock.
Gladion slowly turned to her, a small smirk playing at his lips. "I get road rage, huh?"
She flipped him off "Shut up and drive, Frenchfry!"
"Aye aye, madam moody."
---
"Megan!" Luke yelled as soon as Megan and Gladion entered the apartment. He came storming out of her room with something in his hand "Is this my Winter Soldier Pop Vinyl?!"
A bead of sweat formed on Megan's brow "Uhh, nope! That ones mine."
"Bullshit! You don't even have one!"
"Okay first, language. And second, yes I do!"
"Oh really? Then where's mine?"
"Don't know, don't care."
"You stole my Winter soldier!"
"No, it's mine!"
"Prove it!"
"I licked it, therefore it's mine!"
"ERGH!" Luke dropped the figure "Megan that's disgusting!"
"It got you to let go of my shit, didn't it?" Megan walked over, swiping it off the floor and heading to her room "Be with you in a minute, Gladion, just gotta put Bucky back."
"What?" Luke turned to the door again "Oh hey Gladion, I didn't even notice you there."
Gladion raised an eyebrow "You don't say."
"Yeah, sorry about that," he rubbed the back of his neck "So, what're you doing here?"
"He's helping me with homework." Megan answered, walking past her brother to stand next to Gladion "He gives good advice."
"Ohhhhh, I see. I take it you're pretty smart then?"
"Yup," Gladion smirked "A+ student in all classes."
Megan snorted "Not surprised."
His head whipped around to glare at her "The fuck is that supposed to mean?"
"A stands for asshole."
.
.
.
"C'MERE!"
"Nope!"
Megan dodged as Gladion attempted to grab her, flipping him off with a grin before running off through the house laughing. Gladion followed, also grinning like an idiot.
Luke watched them with a gentle smile, leaning his shoulder against the wall as he watched the two teenagers chasing one another.
'I never thought I'd ever see her smile like that again...'
