Family

(I tried my best. Sorry if it's bad)

Megan and Gladion instantly pulled their faces away, blushing a bright shade of crimson as they stared at each other wide eyed. Were they seriously going to do that?! With so many people around?! Gladion, getting ahold of himself first stepped away from his girlfriend and bowed, pretending nothing even happened. Megan got the idea and curtsied back, before following the boy in complete silence back to where their friends were before.

"That was amazing." A very lovestruck looking Lillie swooned, twirling once as she and Hau walked towards the two. The tanned male had pink tinted cheeks, yet he was smiling brighter than the sun.

Speaking of which.

Sun and Rose jogged over, high fiving as soon as they joined the group before turning to them.

"Did you see us?" Rose asked, bouncing off her heels "We were like whoosh across the dancefloor!"

"I'm surprised you didn't knock anyone over." Lillie giggled "It looked fun, though."

"Well... you looked like you were having fun, too..." Sun lightly elbowed her "If ya get what I mean."

The girl covered her blushing face "SUUUUUUUUN!"

Suddenly a cough could be heard from behind them all, making them whip their heads around to see a familiar golden eyed maiden. She didn't look very happy, by the way her arms crossed over her chest.

"Sir Gladion," She began in a friendly tone, which did not match her expression "I thought that you promised to dance with me every ball during the slow dance, yet you chose to dance with a commoner?"

Gladion stared at her surprisingly, but when the word commoner rolled off her tongue he scowled.

"Miss Sadie." He said through gritted teeth "As you said, we dance together every ball. This is my friend's first time, so can you let it slide just this once?"

The girl huffed before glancing over at Megan, looking at her up and down before giving her a somewhat disgusted expression. With a scoff she turned, flipping her dark brown hair in the process "Very well, it's not like she's competition for your affection or anything."

As she walked off, she didn't see the almost evil smirk playing at Gladion's lips.

You're right. There's no competition... she's already won.

Oh if only his sister wasn't there right now. He would've loved to yell those words out just to spite Sadie, and her mother.

---

"Are you sure that's okay?" Sun asked Lusamine surprisingly, after she and Mohn had proposed for the teenagers to stay the night. The woman held a hand up to her mouth, chuckling softly.

"Oh Sun, of course it is!" She said "Friends of my little angels are always welcome in my home!"

"Mom." Gladion muttered, unhappy with being referred to as 'angel'.

"Lighten up, Gladion my boy!" Mohn laughed "Anyway, all of you can have the living room if you want. It'll be like a sleepover!"

Lusamine gasped "Yes, like the ones Lillie and Megan used to have! Oh I remember when they ran around in their cute little pajamas!"

"Mom." Lillie muttered with equal irritation to her brother's.

Megan felt eyes on her, causing her to turn her head only to see Gladion smirking at her. She turned away quickly, both annoyed and extremely flustered.

"Well if you're sure it's okay, we'll be happy to stay over!" Rose beamed.

"Yeah, sleepover!" Hau yelled, bumping his fist with the short female.

"Perfect! Oh, Lillie, Gladion. You might have to lend our guests your spare pajamas." The blonde woman stated with a thoughtful pout. Lillie waved a hand in dismissal.

"Oh that's no problem."

---

"No way." Megan growled, making Lillie huff.

"Just put them on, Megan. They're pajamas!"

"Pink pajamas!"

"Yeah so what? It's not like you'll be seen in them."

"Yeah except for you, Rose, Sun, Hau and Gladion!"

Lillie groaned, glaring at the girl who was currently standing on her bed with her fingers aiming at the clothing offered to her in the position of a cross. What was she planning to do, compel the pink out of the pajamas with the power of Christ?

"What's going on? You guys are taking a long..." Gladion popped his head round the door, only to trail off at the sight of Megan standing on Lillie's bed "Time... What are you doing?"

"She won't wear the pajamas I'm giving her." Lillie told him, clearly irritated. He turned to Megan, eyebrow raised.

"They're pink." Megan deadpanned.

"So?"

"P i n k."

Lillie sighed "She has this law that she can never be seen in pink. It's dumb, but she's stuck by it since she was 11..."

Gladion held back an amused snort, maintaining a serious expression as he addressed his 'friend' "You're seriously not going to wear them?"

"Nope."

He sighed "Come with me..."

"Wh--"

"Don't ask questions just do it."

Frowning she hopped off the bed, watching Gladion as he disappeared behind the door and down the hall. She gave Lillie a quick wave before following him until they reached--

His room?!

"Why are we here?!" She asked, suddenly receiving a bunch of unclean scenarios inside her head. Gladion noticed her blush and smirked, leaning his shoulder against the wall.

"You expecting something to happen?"

"N-No!"

He chuckled and opened the door, beckoning her to follow as he stepped into his room. Megan's face reddened further; she had never been in his room before, and silently slipped inside. It was everything she'd expect it to be. Black walls, red rug on top of a wooden floor, red bedding, and posters. Lots and lots of posters. Basically the stereotypical room for an angsty teen.

Except for one particular poster, that hung just above his desk.

She stifled a giggle.

"Huh?" Gladion paused rummaging through his drawers "What are you laughing at?"

"Sorry, it's just..." She pointed to the 'Yuri! On Ice' poster "That just reminded me of the time you bumped in to me. You know, when I was carrying that assignment?"

Gladion blushed.

She meant the time she caught him listening to History Maker, and he denied ever liking it. Dammit, he'd been exposed.

"Shut up..." he muttered, continuing to look through his clothes. Then, he found the ones he was looking for.

"Here," he tossed a black t-shirt and grey jogging bottoms towards the girl, causing them to land on her head "If you won't wear pink, maybe these are more up to your standards."

Megan blushed and pulled the clothing off her head, examining it with a flustered expression "Y-Your lending me your c-clothes?!"

"I don't see what your so flustered about," Gladion stuffed his hands inside his pockets "This is a normal thing that friends do, right? Lend each other clothes?"

Well can you blame me?! The guy I LIKE is lending me clothes!

"Anyways I need to go do something," the boy began walking towards the door "I expect you to be done changing when I get back, because I'm not going to knock."

"What?"

"It's my room, I shouldn't have to."

Well excuuuuuuuse me, Frenchfry...

Gladion left without another word, leaving Megan alone in his room to allow her to change. She glanced around, still feeling a little nervous to be putting on his clothes, but decided to suck it up. It was a lot better than wearing pink, anyway...

She reached behind her and took ahold of the zip on the back of the dress. And with a bit of struggle she managed to tug it down, allowing the dress to fall off her frame. She kicked off her slip-ons before slipping on the jogging bottoms and shirt. The clothing was super large on her, and she had to tie the string of the pants into a knot just so they could hang securely on her hips.

Sighing, she folded up her dress and placed it on Gladion's bed, but then something on the boy's desk caught her eye. A picture frame.

She raised an eyebrow and approached the item, picking it up to get a better look at it.

The photo inside made her smile, as it was none other than Lillie and Gladion as children with their parents.

The door clicked open "I'm back, you better be dece--"

Megan turned to the sound of her boyfriend's voice, only to notice him frozen in the doorway. He was staring at her attire with rosy cheeks.

Crap I didn't think this one through! He thought to himself. She's wearing my damn clothes!

That shirt was way too big for her small frame, hanging loosely down until it reached her thighs. It also exposed most of her collarbone, which only made his heart thump more.

"Gladion? hey!" Megan was suddenly in front of him, snapping her fingers in front of his face.

He blinked "What?"

"You say you're back, yet you were so up in the clouds you may as have found Neverland." Megan crossed her arms "You okay?"

Gladion tried hard not to look down, resulting in him averting his gaze from her completely "It's nothing, I'm fine."

"Okay..." She glanced down at the picture frame she still held in her hands, which Gladion noticed.

"What have you got, there?"

"Oh it's just a picture..." she suddenly looked back up at him "Gladion, can I ask you something?"

"O-Oh, um... sure."

She let out a breath "I don't know if it'll make you uncomfortable, so I apologize beforehand, but... I've known Lillie since I was five, we've been friends for so long. And yet... not once had I even heard your name until you joined our class. It's like you didn't even exist... Why is that?"

Gladion's eyes widened slightly. Had she seriously not known about him until now? I mean, considering the circumstances it wouldn't be impossible, but...

"I may know the reason for that..." He finally said, moving past her to his bed and gesturing to it "Have a seat."

Confused she sat down on the end of the furniture, while Gladion plonked himself in his desk chair and wheeled himself in front of her. He took the picture off Megan and stared at it for a moment, his lips quirking up slightly before he made eye contact with the girl.

"Do you know why the Aether ball is so special to us?"

Megan was caught of guard. She didn't expect this to start with a question "N-No?"

The boy placed the item back on his desk and leaned forward with his elbows braced on his knees, his head resting on the palms of his hands as he spoke "It's the only day our whole family is together."

Megan's eyes widened.

"My father is a busy man." He continued "He travels and works all over the world, making it almost impossible for him to come home and visit us... for awhile I traveled with him, as mom had recently given birth to Lillie and she couldn't handle taking care of the both of us on her own. This started when I was 3 and a half... And then, as soon as I was old enough I was sent to a rich boarding school in Sweden. The only time I was able to see mom and Lillie was during the holidays."

"I didn't see Lillie much during the holidays..." Megan murmured "Perhaps it's because she wanted to spend time with you."

Gladion nodded "We tended to make the most of our time together, as we only really got to see each other for a limited time. When the time came, I moved back here so I could go to college and study dance. It was a one of the best in the country, however once again I had to move into dorms... A few months into the semester I couldn't handle being so close to my family yet not living with them, so I transferred."

"To our college?"

He nodded "I think the reason you didn't know about me, is because the subject never came up. Mom always keeps the photos of us together in a shoe box, so you never would have seen pictures of me. And Lillie doesn't usually speak about her her relatives unless their spoken of."

"I see..." Megan stared down at her hands "I guess that makes sense..."

Gladion smirked "Why do you look so sad?"

"I don't know, I guess..." she trailed off.

"You guess, what?"

"I guess that, maybe if we had met before... I wouldn't have been so mean to you at the beginning."

Gladion laughed "Well if that were the case, we wouldn't be calling each other 'Brat' and 'Frenchfry' would we?"

Megan smiled slightly, looking up at him "I guess you're right... Seeing you going through puberty may have been a bit of a put off, anyway."

"Hey, I was still good looking!"

"Uh-huh."

"Shove off..." He grumbled, but smiled afterwards "This is what I mean. The teasing we give one another, it has history behind it. We may not have had that if we knew each other as kids, and to be honest I like how we are now."

"Even when I call you Frenchfry?"

He smirked, leaning in closer "Especially when you call me Frenchfry."

Megan couldn't help but smile. She couldn't believe an insult about his hair lead them to this point.

"Hey, Megan?"

"Hmm?"

Could you... turn around for a sec?"

She raised an eyebrow "Why?"

"I gotta do something, but it's going to be hard if you're facing me." His cheeks tinted pink.

Megan was confused but she obliged, turning so her back faced Gladion and closing her eyes. She didn't know why she did that... secrecy, maybe?

She felt something cold on her collarbone, and then the feeling of Gladion moving her hair away from her neck.

"Okay..." He mumbled, kissing the back of her neck "You can turn around again..."

Megan opened her eyes again and turned to face the boy, eyebrow raised "What did you..."

"Look down," He pointed to her collarbone.

She glanced down, only to see that a pendant had been placed around her neck "T-This is..."

"It's my family symbol," He averted his gaze, blushing slightly "It's no diamond, but it's precious to me... I've wanted to give it to you for some time now, and I figured now would be the perfect time to do so. You know, as an apology for how Joyce and Sadie treated--"

He was cut off, by Megan swinging her arms around his neck "Thank you! I promise I'll treasure it."

Gladion chuckled and pressed his palm against her back, returning the embrace while using the other hand to grip his desk and brace himself.

"Let's go," he said once they parted "The others are waiting."

---

"Thank you for an amazing night," Sun exclaimed with a smile, as he and his friends stood at the door before the Aether family "We had a lot of fun."

"Well thank you for coming!" Mohn laughed "It's not every day I meet my kids' friends, it's been a joy meeting you all."

"Same here, sir!" Hau grinned.

"Well, we better head off, I'm sure you want to spend as much time together as possible." Megan smiled kindly, before briefly glancing at Gladion "As a family."

The Aethers waved the four teenagers off, watching as they left the property with bright smiles on their faces. When they were gone, Mohn turned to his children.

"I meant what I said. You have very good friends, and I'm glad to have met them."

Lillie smiled "Thanks, dad."

"And Gladion," he gave his son a grin "That's a pretty nice girlfriend you have, too."

Gladion choked "G-GIRLFRIEND?!"

"Yeah that Megan girl. She's your girlfriend, right?"

The boy furiously shook his head.

"Huh... I could've sworn you two were--"

"Okay that's great dad!" He rushed back into the house "Come on, let's play some games before you have to catch your flight!"

The remaining three exchanged glances "Was he always this jumpy when it came to women?" Mohn asked.

"No," Lusamine shook her head, also confused "As far as I'm aware, this is new... What do you think about it, Lillie?"

The girl hummed, staring at the hallway her brother ran down with narrowed eyes "It is a little strange..."

"Well nevermind that, he's right!" Mohn laughed, slinging an arm around his wife and daughter "I'm leaving in six hours, so let's use that for some family time!"
