They picked out a home and called it 'Holiday House'
Chris packed me a bag of essentials for the first few days and had arranged to get the rest of my belongings brought over when we'd settled in. I sit out on the porch in my sundress with a oversized cardigan on to keep me warm as I drink my tea and read my book, I look out at the sunset over the ocean and think to myself about how lucky I was to make it out alive. Chris comes out and joins me with a plate of toast for both of us - toast and tea was a favourite of mine particularly in the evenings, we eat and sit in silence listening to the sound of the waves.
A couple of weeks had passed and all of Chris' projects had been put on hold for the time being so that he could stay home with me, we'd venture out a couple of times to the beach or the grocery store but that was as far as we went. I had doctors appointments every couple of weeks and today was one of the last ones before being signed off. We sit in the doctors office as she tests the urine sample I needed to give everytime, I was hesitant this time because I had my period but the doctor assured us that she's seen it all before.
"Shannon, you mentioned you had your period. Has it been any lighter or heavier this month?" She ask and I shake my head. "It's been a lot lighter this month hardly anything and only lasted a couple of days". The doctor takes note of everything on the computer beforr turning back to us. "I suspect that the bleeding your having isn't your period but instead implantation bleeding, have you been trying to start a family?" I frown and shake my head slightly "we haven't been careful, are you saying i'm pregnant?" I ask and the doctor tells me that if my period doesn't come at the end of the month like it does every month like clock work i've to take a pregnancy test to confirm her suspicions.
We leave the doctors office and drive home with security following close behind us in an all Black SUV, I look out the window quietly watching the world pass by. I haven't said much since leaving, Chris pulls me out of my daydream as he takes my hand in his softly squeezing and giving me a smile. After we get home we sit on the beach close to the house with Dodger, "What if I don't get my period and i'm pregnant, what do we do? Is bringing a baby into the world a sensible idea? He or She will need to live like this their whole life" I say pointing at the security feet away from us. Chris looks at me and gives a sympathetic smile "It won't always be like this, in a few more weeks they'll leave us be and we can get on with our life. Bringing a baby into the world isn't the worse thing in the world, they'd be half of you and half of me. You'll be an amazing mummy and i'll be the best daddy I can possibly be". I nod back in response and put my head on Chris shoulder thinking about possibly starting our own family.
