"So, now you understand why we can't give you the raise?" James asked, glancing between his employees. Brooklyn rolled her eyes, but nodded all the same. "Got it, thanks, James," she answered, rushing out the door. Lena stood, making her way after her friend. "Lena, wait," James called after her. "Let Brooklyn know I appreciate all she's doing, I don't think she hears it enough." he pleaded. "Okay, dad, got it," Lena answered, leaving the room. "See you tonight."

Lena made her way back to the counter, watching as Brooklyn helped out one of the customers waiting there. She was doing the thing again. The thing where she tried flirting with customers to bribe them into buying more food. And it was working. Lena rolled her eyes at the scene, but felt a tug on her heart nonetheless. After the customer took a seat, Brooklyn turned around to see Lena, leaning on the wall with her arms crossed. "Okay, Mickey! You're on closing duty," she proclaimed. "I knew that," Lena answered. "And don't call me Mickey."
