Chapter Twenty-Five: I bought a boat

July 4th (nine months later)

Colton had officially been born for about fifteen months now. We had finally been able to get a few nights of full rest these past few months.

This guy really just loves to sleep.

He had just started to walk and I bawled out crying. I guess that's a mom thing?

He was growing up so fast.

Oh, did I mention I was pregnant, again?

Garrett works fast.

We had a night away from the baby one night a little after our little man was born and bam. Here we are now.

I'm about nine months along now, but we decided we didn't want to know the babies gender until it was born.

I know, not even a gender reveal party.

We had all of Colton's old clothes still and we bought a few girl outfits in case.

I think Colton would love a sister.

But he would also love a brother too. I mean who wouldn't?

I told Garrett I only wanted two kids for now.

I wonder if he will even respect that decision?

We had decided if it was a boy his name would be, Noah Ethan Adams.

If it was a girl her name would be, Emma Grace Adams.

I absolutely love both of the names.

I was seated in Colton's room now, he had officially moved to the other bedroom now that the new baby would need the nursery.

It was filled with sports, everything.

He didn't know what the hell was happening but he seemed pretty intrigued when we watched sports on the television.

I want him to be just like his daddy.

I mean for heavens sake, his first word was 'ball' so I mean he's going to definitely be into sports. I literally cried when he said his first word. We were outside on the patio soaking up some sun rays and Garrett was throwing a football up and down and Colton just says "ball!"

He knows 'momma' and 'dada' and a bunch of other words now. He's super smart for only being a little over a year old.

Since today was July fourth we planned on going out on our new recent purchase, a boat. Garrett came home one day after work and was like "Hey Babe, I bought a boat!"

I didn't talk to him the rest of the day until I caved because I really wanted to go see it.

I was as big as a balloon now, I wasn't due for another week at least. Since this was our second baby Garrett was a little less protective and allowed me to walk around and piss by myself.

Well, I yelled at him so he learned to back off.

I was getting so freaking old. I was now twenty-five. Oh! I forgot to mention...

I got a raise! The times loves me so much they gave me a promotion to be the director of the paper.

I made fifty more grand a year which was absolutely insane...

I thought life couldn't get any better.

On another note, Savannah and Matt had a kid! They had a precious baby boy named Aiden. He's gonna he such a ladies man, I can already see it.

That name just sounds like it will appeal girls.

"Jess? Ready to go?" Garrett peeks his head into Colton's bedroom. He smiles when he sees me packing a small bag of clothes and diapers. "Here, I got it."

I sat down in the rocking chair while Zeus jumps up in my lap and begins to take a nap. I never thought I would get another dog since Boomer but I realized this would be perfect for us.

A small dog in the city. The kids would love it. And I was right, Colton and Zeus are the best of friends. I catch them cuddling all the time as they both fall asleep on the floor.

"Thanks baby." I turn to Colton who was on the floor playing with one of his trucks, "Cole, are you ready to go to the lake?"

He immediately stands up, almost falling over and claps his hands, "Yes!"

Garrett sips up the bag and hands it to me, "Alright big guy, let's go!" He holds his hands out for Colton which he jumps into his arms.

Since I was as big as a barn, I couldn't bend over, or really pick up anything.

So Colton had to become a daddy's boy for a few months. I know he will stick to him mainly anyways.

A boy loves a good daddy role model.

"Hey, do you think we should bring the hospital suitcase in case?" I curiously ask.

Garrett thinks, "Why not. I'll go grab it." He runs up the stairs to grab the hospital clothes we had packed in case I were to go into labor.

We get everything ready to go and we all pile into the truck. I made sure Colton's car seat was secure and safe and then climbed on the truck myself.

It was getting harder and harder to climb in and out of.

Garrett climbed into the drivers seat and kissed my cheek before pulling out of the driveway, "Who's ready to have some fun?"

Cole and I both cheered. I can't really do anything besides sit on the boat and read a book and watch the boys play.

It sucks being pregnant.

We pulled up to a red light the anticipation was killing me. I just wanted to go soak up some sun rays!

The light turned green and Garrett pressed the gas only to see that some jack ass decided to run the light and shot right in front of us.

He slammed on the breaks to prevent hitting the car, and he thankfully avoided it.

Unfortunately the shock caused my water to break.

"Babe?" I ask.

He takes a deep breath before turning to look at me, "Are you okay? I'm so sorry, that asshole!"

I tried to keep calm, "We need to go to the hospital."

He pulls the car to the curb and sets in park, "Shit! Is the baby coming?"

I wince and clutch my stomach, "Yeah, I think the shock made me go into labor. Just drive, now!"

He immediately pulls back onto the road and floors it carefully to the hospital, "Colton, I'm sorry but we can't go to the lake today." I calmly say.

He whines, "Why?" I can picture him pouting his lip.

Garrett responds, "Yours baby sister or brother is coming today. We have to go to the hospital so mommy can deliver the baby."

"Oh." He sadly says. Man that breaks my heart to see my kid sad.

My poor baby.

We arrive at the hospital and I'm immediately wheeled into a room. I'm there for a few minutes before the doctor comes in, "Ma'am, due to the shock that made you go into labor it sped up the position of the baby. You're already at ten centimeters, your baby is ready to be delivered."

Damn.

Already?

I've barely had any contractions.

Man, and I was so prepared too! I had a stress ball and everything!

I am dragged into the delivery room where Garrett stands by me in awe, watching me as I get ready to push.

"Where's Colton?" I ask.

"One of the doctors is sitting in there with him. I didn't want him to be in here. It may scare him." He laughs and I smile.

"Okay Mrs. Adams, you know the drill. Push on the count of five!"

"1..2..3..4..5!" I push with all I had and grabbed the sides of the bed frame with one hand and Garrett's with the other.

About a minute later we hear a voice crying and it is the baby.

They cut the cord and clean the baby up and wrap it before handing it to me, "Congratulations guys, you have a beautiful, healthy baby girl."

"A girl." I gasp, caressing her forehead with my thumb.

"An all-American girl." Garrett commented.

I turn to look at him, "I hate you," I chuckle, "Go get our son!"

He laughs and jogs out of the door to retrieve our son.

Garrett soon comes back in the room with Cole in his arms. He sets him down on the bed next to me. "Colton, meet your baby sister, Emma."

His hand reaches out to touch her and places his hand on her small cheek. I smile at his gesture before handing Emma off to Garrett so he could hold her.

"She looks just like you, baby." Garrett comments.

I smile, "She has your pretty blue eyes though. And your nose."

He smiles, "Yeah, everything else is all you."

"Hey, good thing we brought the suitcase." I laugh.

"Oh yeah, definitely good call there!"

I notice that Colton fell asleep already next to me, so I wrapped my arms around him and decided to take a little nap with him.

I love my family.

Emma Grace Adams, you are already loved.

Here's to the future with my three most prized possessions.

Once I finish the epilogue I'll start planning the next book!
