5th Heartbeat

"Mom?"

I called out as mom had her back against me, cooking something good in the pan.

"Yes honey?" She asked as she looked at me sideways, flashing her smile at me.

"Can I go out biking?" I asked. Hopefully, she would agree with my idea.

She stopped from what she was doing and wiped her hand in her apron. I gulped, expecting that I would be confronted with a line of what if, what is, what will, what so fucking ever wonder dralalala!! —

She sigh for awhile before she looked at me. I returned her look with my puppy eyed ones and I know, I'm going to win this round.

"You can son, but I fear for your health." She reason out with a heavy sigh.

See?

"Can you manage?" She finally gave up and I yapped happily in my stool.

"Yes mom! I will! I promise I will be careful and not to stressed up myself. So... can I go?" I asked again just to be sure.

"Yes, but be back soon okay?"

I jumped from my stool with a loud giddy voice in my throat because of the happiness I'm feeling. I came to her and hugged her on her back for life while carrying my oxygen tank with one hand. I felt her smile.

"Thank you mom."

I smiled and out I went from the house. But before I could get my bike from the shed, I grab Marcus first before fetching my precious bicycle from our well kept white shed in the backyard.

I pulled my red mountain bike out from the shed, put Marcus and my oxygen tank on the front basket of the bike as I pushed it out of our residence. When we're finally out, I climbed on the bike put my helmet on and step on the pedal and begun biking around the neighborhood.

When my body felt the dying need of rest, I quickly remembered the place my family used to go to when having a picnic during the cherry blossom festival. I left my bike and chained it on the railing and went down step by step into the river where a large cherry tree had planted its roots perfectly just a few meters away from the bluish running river.

It was peaceful and nostalgic. And I wish they can scatter my ashes right here in this very river.

I put Marcus on the grassy ground just under the tree to shade us from the blaring hot light of the sun. I walked near the river and squated before it. I quickly kick my shoes from my feet and dumped my feet on the cold water. I looked at the clear water and saw some fishes swam around my foot making me giggle as their body and fins tickle my leg.

"Allen." I smiled when I heard that voice, and my grin went wider when I saw my reflection on the bluish water.

"What is it?" I asked, still looking at my feet submerge on the water.

I heard him sigh and silence followed it. No one dared to talk and I like it to leave it that way. I listened very carefully as the wind blew stronger, making the leaves and branches rustle in their stead. The pinkish petal of the cherry blossom dance in the air in sync with the wind. I hummed in satisfaction.

If I could bring this moment with me on the other side, then I could die happy.

My train of thoughts was interrupted when suddenly Marcus lifted me up and scoop me into his arms making blushed.

"Please put me down." I whined like a child but was loving the action.

He sat us both down under the tree. Me on his lap while he hugged my waist like someone's going to snatch me away from his very grip. His pinkish lips pouted as he held me making me smile.

"What's gotten on you? Hmmm... Marcus?" I asked as I twirl one of his silvery hair that happens to call my attention as it sticks out from his head over my thumb and index finger. His pout grew more.

I laugh. "Come on buddy, tell me." I pushed.

"Its nothing."

"Aww, your being cute. Come on, you can tell me." I tried again as I pinch his over cutely cheeks.

Finally, he looked up to me. We stared for each other for like how many seconds before he broke it. He held his head down low which just made me look at him in utter curiousity.

"Marcus?"

"I hate that look of yours like your already satisfied to die just right over there. It hurts you know? That's why I have to do something." He solemnly explained but I kept my mouth shut.

"You were the first person who appreciated me and not be afraid of me because of a mere toy becoming a human. You were different from the rest of them. And when I can finally have an owner who really loves me for who I am, It turns out that your days are already ticking down to zero. It pained me Allen." I caressed his cheeks and saw he was crying.

"I can't bear to watch, to realize that someday, those beautiful eyes of yours that gave me hope will suddenly close itself and never to open again. The color of your life slowly draining out from your being. I-I can't stand it." He sobbed making my heart ache.

I pulled him into a tight hug. I know whats the feeling of loosing someone you love and its never an easy feeling. Its not even an easy feeling leaving someone precious to you, what if you'll never ever return to your love one's side anymore? That's more threatening.

"Marcus, we may have met in a crucial time, in a not so perfect moment and especially not the best figure since your a toy and I'm a human but meeting you had made my life worth living. You have been there for me that day I have found you back in our backyard. And I did not regret I've found you there." I smiled as I wiped his tears with my thumb.

"I know, someday, well incarnate ourselves and be born again into this world. I hope we can meet again and exchange our hello's again, in a place like this, in a moment like this and let love blossom its way into our hearts."

I stated which made his silver eyes look up to me wide eyed before he gave me his smile. The wind blew stronger than ever before making the petals in the wind seemed to dance around us.

I held Marcus's chin into me and leaned in and whispered the words that will seal everything that I have said just a few seconds ago. We will surely meet someday, you and me.

"I love you..."
