Chapter 16

Soon, we halted at a huge den looking place, made of tall grey stone walls. Smoke was billowing out of a taller skinnier part that stuck out of the roof and a few clear panes of something were scattered around the house.
I could hear a fire crackling inside.
The huge creature stepped inside and beckoned us in with her tail.
The kitten scowled but obeyed as she didn't want to stay outside on her own. The puppies gratefully ran in, their playful tongues lolling and happy puppy ears flopping at their sides.

"Come with me," the reptile suggested in a non threatening way. "I have a few words to say."

"Only if Bridget can come." I said, standing my guard, nodding at the white cat beside me. I couldn't go with this thing alone! Bridget plainly needed to come.

"No." Bridget muttered, shaking uncontrollably. I can't come- I d- d- don't f-feel g-g-good."

"That's right, orangey." The reptile said to me. "Come on, follow me, I don't bite!"
I didn't exactly believe that last comment but if it would get him to leave me alone, I should come with him.

"Fine." I lashed my tail and leaped after her, leaving Bridget behind.

We neared another stone house, this one a little taller and she beckoned me inside.
"Since we haven't exactly had a nice start, I'm Evil Eye."

"What are you." I questioned.

She paused and rubbed her feet against the wooden floor and then said: "nice wooden floor, huh?"
But I then repeated: "what are you, and she had none other choice, but to answer me.
