I don't need you.

      I am capable of taking care of myself and my basic needs.

     I can feed myself and pay my own bills.

     I can hold my own hand and dance under the stars.

     I can spread a genuine smile on my own face.

     You do make me happy,

      But I don't need you to be my happiest.

      Another hand can bring the same pleasure.

      Another person can speak the same words.

     I can speak the same words,

     And present my own comforting touch.

     Still... I find myself gravitating towards you.

     Please find delight in the fact that I want you.

     That I have chosen you.

      But don't forget that I don't need you.

     Need and want are what distinguish successful relationships.

     When you need someone,

     When you rely on someone for happiness,

     You are not truly ready for that kind of commitment.

     I seek a partnership with you.

     I do not seek a dependance,

     From either my end or yours.

     So please respect my independence,

      As I shall respect yours,

     For it is a sure sign,

     That we are heading down the right path.
