we're gonna need a spotlight

I stand in the crowd, wearing my outfit for the show. I look behind me, seeing Hope and Landon at the top of the stairs. Rafael walks on the stage, all thats there being a girl with a cello.

"My name is Rafael, and my talent is spoken word poetry." The crowd begins to snap, few cheers here and there.

"Oh, no." I hear Landon says.

"He promised he wouldn't do this again." I groan under my breath, giving Landon a pleading look.

The snapping stops, and Rafael speaks. "Stillness. A light breaks inside. Unity. And division. Tension." He makes hand gestures, making me want to crawl into a hole. "All these wolves staring at me, waiting for the answer. Expectation is a cancer. Oh, you can't, sir? Then who will?" Suddenly, Rafael catches me in his sight, along with Landon and Hope. He pauses the strummer, "Two brothers and a sister brought up together. Then one's left behind because he's no longer needed." I suck in a heavy breath, looking back at Landon and Hope before turning back to him. "Violence inside of me. Inside, I'm, I'm bleeding." His eyes soften as he looks up at Hope. "And I can't believe what I'm feeling, since the moment you danced with me. Buried so deep, rising up, enchanting me. And it won't go away." He glances at me and my brother. "And I was never jealous of anything that you had until today." I look back at Hope, who has an expression I can't quite read. Rafael's stare hardens. "And why is that artifact here? Monsters coming, people running. Ask for answers, always nothing." Student's around me start standing up, so I do as well. Rafaels eyes flash green. "I say we get rid of it."

Everyone snaps their head at Hope and Landon. "So they're all infected?"

"Yeah, I'm not gonna wait around to find out." Landon says before rushing out the door. I follow the heard, slamming on the doors. I'm smushed between the bodies as Hope slams the doors shut with a spell.

Hope snaps her eyes at Landon. "What about Lena?" She asks.

Landon pants. "Have you met her? She's a total bad ass." I let the crowd push me backwards as they pound on the doors. I back up slowly, before running backstage.

Once I'm behind the curtains, I pull out my phone to call Dr. Saltzman. "I knew you looked different." I hear. I turn to see a random wolf. "You and that stupid urn, might as well get rid of both of you."

My eyes widen as the wolf lunges at me. I move out of the way, rushing through the stage equipment. I hear the boys growls as I look into a box, seeing a mic stand. I lift it up, grunting as I do so. Just as I turn around, the wolf takes a leap into the air. I grip the stand like a bat, swinging it at his face. He falls to the ground, and I hit him one more time to ensure his unconsciousness. I look around. I curse under my breath, before grabbing a chunk of rope and tying him to a piano. I look down at him. "That won't hold you long, will it?" I sigh. I grab another box, putting it on top of the piano, along with a bunch of other boxes, hoping the weight will keep him there for a little while longer.

I begin to rush off, the school phone calling me. "You better have a way to get me out of here." I snap.

"Actually, no." Hope sighs. "You're actually about to get electrocuted." She warns me.

"Won't that kill me?" I ask her, annoyed.

"No?"

Before I can reply, a shock waves through my body. I yelp in pain, falling onto the floor. The wolf boy I tied up yells as well, a slug falling onto the floor. He slams his fist on the slug. I look up at him, panting. "Do I look different now?"

"Hey, Kirby," I spin around, seeing Penelope walking towards me. "I heard you were kicking ass today." She says.

I laugh. "I guess so, yeah." She sits by me at my vanity, observing my features. I clear my throat. "How did you know? About me and Hope?"

She shrugs. "I just know." She chimes. "Listen, you like Hope, and it's pretty damn obvious she likes you too. So go out there, sing your damn love song, and get the girl." She says, lifting me to my feet. "Before it's too late." I look at my feet, before peering up at her.

"How'd you do it? I mean, come out." I ask. "Before Hope, girls were never an option,"

"Because you were too busy playing with boys hearts to realize the real prize; girls." Penelope hums. "And I get it, you're totally confused and the only people that you wanted to know this were Landon, Raf, and Hope. But that times over now. Love is fluid, and you can like who you like."

I smile softly, hugging the Park girl tightly. "Thanks Penelope," I say.

I step onto the stage into a new outfit, as the last one was ruined by the electricity. Hope and Landon sit side by side as the music plays. Penelope waves at me from the side, giving me an encouraging thumbs up.

I pull the mic closer. "You're so hypnotizing. Could you be the devil? Could you be an angel Your touch magnetizing, Feels like I am floating, Leaves my body glowing." Rafael step into the crowd, smiling as he watches me. I make eye contact with Hope, "They say, be afraid. You're not like the others, Futuristic lover. Different DNA. They don't understand you." I pull the mic off the stand, Penelope slowly taking it off the stage. "You're from a whole 'nother world. A different dimension. You open my eyes. And I'm ready to go Lead me into the light."

I rip off my jacket at the chorus. "Kiss me, k-k-kiss me! Infect me with your loving. Fill me with your poison." The crowd stands, slightly dancing. "Take me, t-t-take me.  Wanna be your victim, Ready for abduction" Penelope smirks at the following line. "Girl, you're an alien. Your touch so foreign. It's supernatural." I look up at the tribrid, who's eyes are on me. "Extraterrestrial."

MG whistles loudly, cheering me on. "You're so supersonic. Wanna feel your powers Stun me with your laser." I think about Hope and I that day Landon and I left. "Your kiss... is cosmic. Every move is magic." I grip the microphone tightly. "You're from a whole 'nother world. A different dimension. You open my eyes. And I'm ready to go, Lead me into the light."

"Kiss me, k-k-kiss me. Infect me with your loving, Fill me with your poison." Vampires start doing fun tricks, much like the ones they did when they were slug drunk. "Take me, t-t-take me. Wanna be your victim, Ready for abduction. Girl, you're an alien. Your touch so foreign." Hope blushes softly. "It's supernatural. Extraterrestrial"

It feels like time slows, as if it's just me and the Mikaelson. "This is transcendental. On another level. Girl, you're my lucky star." I step down the step, now on the same level as the girl. "I wanna walk on your wave length. And be there when you vibrate. For you I'll risk it all." The two of us smile at each other. "All,"

I jump back onto the stage. "Kiss me, k-k-kiss me!  Infect me with your loving, Fill me with your poison." My hair smacks me in the face as I jump around, "Take me, t-t-take me. Wanna be your victim, Ready for abduction." Emma and Mr. Williams do a mini dance in the back of the room. "Girl, you're an alien. Your touch so foreign. It's supernatural, Extraterrestrial." I look at the crowd, moving my head back and forth to the beat. "Extraterrestrial." Landon even grins as he nods his head to the beat."Extraterrestrial!" Hope steps into the crowd, the two of us only staring at each other now. "Girl, you're an alien! Your touch so foreign. It's supernatural! Extraterrestrial." The guitar solo slowly starts. "Extraterrestrial." I put the mic to my side as I step down the stage steps, back on the main floor with Hope. Each step, I feel my heart banging out of my chest as we step closer. The music plays loudly as we finally meet in the middle, starring at one another. I smile softly, all the hate I once felt gone for the moment. Everything feeling so right. Like this is what is meant to happen. Call it fate, maybe. Destiny? Whatever it is, Im not mad at it. In fact? I love it. I pant, putting my hand up in the air at the final note.

Claps fill the auditorium, Hope and I smiling. I pant, letting out a sigh as MG and Kaleb rush over, cheering me on.

I sit on the docks, only wearing the top from my outfit, replacing the jeans with sweats. "You know, I wish I could say I'm mad about today, but I can't be." I turn slowly to see Landon, hands in his pockets. "You knew what was happening before I ever had a clue. Hope was falling for you, and I was falling for her."

I shake my head. "Landon, that's not-"

"I kept thinking how could my sister break the ultimate bro code?" He hums, sitting next to me. "And then I realized, all this time, you and Hope have had something she and I never had." I frown, looking at him confused. "Passion."

I furrow my brows for a moment before staring down at the water. "I never wanted to feel this way about her." I confess. "God, I hate Hope. More than almost anything." My brother listens closely as I glare at my own reflection in the water below. "But it's like I can't ever get enough of Hope Mikaelson." I turn to look at my brother, who stares at the sky above. "Please don't hate me." I whisper.

Landon chuckles, shaking his head. "Are you kidding? You and Hope literally had the most cliche rom com moment and then two weeks later I totally made out with her, and decided to ask her out." The two of us laugh, remembering the moment. "You two have something special, Lena." He wraps an arm around my shoulder, "You've done so much for me, so let me do this one thing for you."

I raise a brow, looking at my brother. "And what's that?" I ask with a smile.

Landon pats my back. "Tell you to go get the girl." He says, shooing me off.

"What?"

"Go get that tribrid of yours before someone else decides to confess their love."

I smile softly at my brother, nodding slowly. I spring to my feet, running off the deck. My feet carry me as fast as they can. I swing open the doors, pushing past students left and right. A werewolf is running down the hall with a ball, and I slide under his legs, stumbling onto my feet before running again.

I swing open the door, seeing Hope Mikaelson sitting at her vanity, drying her hair down with a towel. She turns to look at me. "Hi." She chirps. "It took me three showers, but I think I'm finally-"

Cutting her off, my lips connect with hers. I can hear her drop the towel at our feet, her hands slowly reaching my own face. I pull away quickly. "I know this sounds insane, but you are the most kind, amazing, stunning, beautiful person I've ever met. All these years I've been messing with guys and being the ultimate slut," The two of us laugh, remembering when I slept with Connor before he turned into a spider's meat suit. "But I realized it was because I never would let myself have what I wanted. A beautiful, strong woman."

"Lena-"

"Just kiss me." She obliges, kissing my softly. It feels like sparks flying all over the place, every moment where I wanted to murder the Mikaelson, where I wanted to throw myself off a bridge just to get away from her, all disappearing.

Because whether I like it or not, I hate loving Hope Mikaelson.
