PoV: Shadow

It had gone silent after the second explosion. I couldn't see the top of the temple from here.

"I'll go check it out," I used my skates to get to the top in a few seconds. There, I could see each emerald floating over its pedestal. With it, the blue chaos emerald, bright and glowing just like it was supposed to.

As I walked up the final steps I saw the master emerald had shatter. And right there... in the center of the cold green stones... he was there. Sound asleep, and not transparent at all. It was him... he was alive...

"Sonic..." I felt overwhelmed with my own emotions and bodily state. Relief, exhaustion, shock, and joy. I knelt down and pulled him up into my arms. I placed an ear against his chest and there it was, his heart beat. It was a little slow, but steady, "Let's get you back home. You can sleep all you want on the way there."

I laid Sonic back down. I grabbed all the chaos emeralds and tucked them away before I carefully lifted Sonic into my arms, I made my ways down the stairs with some light speed. I didn't want to risk anything.

"He's alive!" Amy shouted an ran towards us when we reached the bottom, "Oh Sonic!"

"He's sleeping," I adjusted my hold and continued towards the plane, "We should bring him home. I think he'd like that."

"Yeah," Tails gave Sonic's sleeping body and quick hug before jumping onto the driver's seat, "Let's go."

I took the back seat so I could continued to hold Sonic and protect him. Amy and Knuckles took a ride on the plane's wings. The others returned with the flying companions they came with.

Sonic was brought to his old home. Everything was quickly cleaned and his bed sheets changed. We all patiently waited for him to wake up.

"Come one Sonic, it's been three days now..." I whispered to Sonic as I held his hand tightly, Sonic... I miss seeing those eyes...

... no... you don't...

I jumped as I heard his voice.

"Shadow? What is it?" Tails asked.

"I heard him," I pressed the back of his hand against my forehead.

Come on Sonic. Wake up. Wake up... You don't have to do anything else. We got you caught up on your chores, and cleaned out your fridge. All you get to do is lay in bed if you want to...

Just please, wake up. We all need you to wake up.

Sonic... Sonic...

  We all heard the bed creak as Sonic took a large breath. I felt him squeeze my hand as he marched his back. He was stretching.

"Mm~" he yawned behind closed lips and relaxed. Just then, his face scrunch up, only a second before he quickly opened his eyes and shut them again. He slowly opened them again, "Huh?"

"You're wake," I hugged him and Rouge spred the good news to everyone waiting outside the room.

They all got their turn to hug the extremely dazed hedgehog. Sonic looked like he was still trying to figure out what was going on. I placed my hand back over his as he laid in bed.

"Hey," I turned his head my way. He stared at me a bit, the smiled, "welcome back-"

PoV: Sonic

"Sonic..."

Who's calling me? I can't see them. Their voiceis so soothing... so familiar and warm... I want to see them.

Let me see them.

"Sonic..."

Let me see...

  It was strange, I no longer felt cold emptiness. It was warm, and I could feel my body being hugged by something soft. Feeling... I had feelings all around me. It was so bright yet suddenly my eyes were flashed with unfamiliar colors. I shut them, trying to adjust my sight. It's so bright.

"Huh?" I opened my eyes again and was once again blinded by a blurry slur of colors. I felt something heavier hug me as my eyes began to adjust.

  What is this? This feeling? Where am I? Who are...

"Hey," my head was suddenly turned towards someone very handsome. Someone who was making my heart beat stronger. Shadow... This is Shadow, my boyfriend, and my friends. I know exactly where I am, "Welcome back."

PoV: Shadow

  His smile was so bright and tears stung his eyes. He opened he mouth as he began to cry. With a hoarse voice, and low gentle volume he sobbed:

"I'm... home..."

"You are," I hugged him and for the first time, I could feel his arms wrap around me.

"You remember our promise?" Sonic whispered.

"I would never forget it," I couldn't thing of anything else to do than kiss him softly on the cheek.

"Sonic. How are you feeling?" Amy sat at the end of the bed.

"I'm a little weak... I think I'll... be okay," he hadn't used his body in so long, he'd half to readjust to it.

"We'll get you walking in to time," Vanilla used a pillow to prop him up so he could talk with everyone.

  I reminded besides him, holding his hand.

  I love you.

"Me too... Shadow."

It was the the only thing that remained of his abilities from being a ghost. Our telekinesis between each other. And we never lost the skill since.

PoV: 3rd Person

  Sonic required a few days of physical therapy for each part of his body before he was mobile. He was walking after around 2 weeks of practice. His running ability returned to him after a month of walking and light jogs.

  Shadow moved in with him since his livingroom remained scorched. Sonic remained happy with Shadow at his side each night. Sonic would occasionally wonder into a door or wall since losing his other abilities. A side from occasionally bumping into things, their lives had returned to completely returned to normal.

"So they freed Sonic," the Seer watched in secret as Sonic's house, "He must be doing well. I'll stop by on his next adventure. I wonder which prophecy will be next."

  Ahhhh!!! I miss the book already! I've had this one planned out since middle school. I used to day dream it often. Having it all out where you guys can enjoy it feels amazing! I'm going to miss this book, but I'll always be happy with the ending.
