"Sir, we have located the first emerald. We found the green emerald," my machines notified me.

"Wonderful! Now we can easily locate the next ones. Send out drones to scan more areas around the planet," I ordered.

"Right away!"

PoV: Shadow

"Shadow, you love me right?" Sonic asked as I was doing the dishes.

"I do. Why are you asking now?" It wasn't worth hiding anything when he could read my thoughts.

"Why?" He floated right down next to me.

"Lots of reasons. You're beautiful looking in sunlight, but normally your more on the cute side. You look pretty cool in fights. Your kindness and consideration for others is what lead me to falling for you-" his entire form the glowing pink, "You change color when you blush."

"I didn't think I'd be embarrassed to hear it out loud..." he hand a bright smile on his face, "Don't look!" He disappeared, "I'm emberassed..."

"I feel in love with you, but I was angry because of it. I took it out on you with pointless battles. I wound up wounding you... I'm sorry," I could feel him close to me, "You never showed me any interest romantically. How do you feel about me?"

"Me..." he reappeared over my head, "I guess... I was a little jealous. You always looked so cool and calm except for when we fought. I liked you, but I wasn't sure if that would just piss you off or not so I never said it..." he was twiddling his quills in embarrassment, "Sh-Shadow..."

"Yeah?" I put away the last dish and dried my hands.

"D-do you think... When I get my body back of course. Um... Do you think we could date?" He asked.

"... Why do you we have to wait for your body to come back?" I couldn't believe he actually asked to date, yet it was all very relieving.

"Well... I want to do kissing and hand holding... and... you know... boyfriend stuff," his went from pink to red.

"Alright. I'll promise you then. The moment you're back in your body I'll kiss you, but we start dating now. Sound good?" I turned to him, he faded back to his usual blue.

"Its a promise!" He hugged me, "I want to hug you for real..."

"You will, I promised to protect you, I won't break it," I sat down with him on the couch, "But... your starting to free my torso..."

"Sorry!" He let go, "I'll just be right here..."

  He had a bright smile on his face the rest of the day. Each moment we were alone, I could help but smile knowing i could show him my affection at any given moment.

"Sir! We have made little progress today, the drones are still searching," my computer announced today's progress to me.

"What progress has been made?" I needed clarification.

"We believe the blue emerald is in possession of the freedom fighters, thought the energy reading are stronger than that of a normal emerald," it stated.

"Fool! That's just Shadow! He gives off his own readings, ignore it and move on!" I ordered.

"Yes sir, continuing search over night," I shut off the computer and admored the emerald I had already acquired.

"Oh! Hohoho! Soon I shall have my Eggman Empire! With that rodent gone for good, nothing can stand in my way! HOHOHOHOHO!!"
