PoV: Shadow

"It's so warm~" Sonic was laying on the bed with his chaos emerald. Apperently it felt warm to him.

  It was taking a while to completely recognize all the information that sear gave us. He appeared so suddenly and started spouting nonsense. I still had the potion he gave me and the white crystal.

"Sonic, are you doing alright?" I looked back at him, he's looked so peaceful in his own little world.

"Hm?" He looked up at me, he had a spark in his eyes. One I hadn't seen since before his last fight.

"Nevermind," I ruffled his quills and he purred.

  Suddenly there where soul eaters which, according to that Sear, eat Sonic's soul. Not only that, but Sonic wasn't dead. His body was sealed in the emerald, his heart was still beating inside it. Finally there was his vision. The Sear never entirely explained what it was. All I knew was that if I ever lost the emerald Sonic would vanish... I had to guard it with my life until the emerald recovered enough to release Sonic's body. So long as the energy in the emerald wasn't used for anything Sonic would be fine.

  It was so much to take in. I had no other choice to. If there was even the slightest chance to bring him back-

"What the hell..." I sighed, Why couldn't it take me, I should have more energy than Sonic.

"Shadow," I hadn't notice Sonic was touching my arm to read my thoughts.

"You didn't think that thought would never cross my mind did you?" I looked back at him as we both laid in bed.

"I knew you would... I can't tell you why because I'm not really sure. I didn't know I had that much natural chaos energy..." Sonic hugged me, he wasn't his usual cold, he actually felt like a warm presence.

"I knew. I always knew you held much more energy than I ever could. My owb  energy is synthetic. I take natural energy from the emeralds. You always had an abundance of natural energy that your body could hold. It explains why you can chaos control with a fake emerald that had no energy. And I can only use genuine emeralds. Maybe I should have just used your energy to chaos control to farther places," I joked to cheer him up.

"Just not right now," he handed me the emerald, "You can hold my hand and chaos control anywhere you want when I'm back. Okay?"

"Sounds good," I watched as Sonic floated over me and smiled. The blue emerald began to glow and a small chain appeared from is side. It latched itself onto Sonic's ankle and matched his transparency.

"What is this?" Sonic tugged on the chain, "I can't leave the emerald now..."

"I guess it needs you close by," I sat up from the bed where we were laying.

"Now what?" Sonic looked up at me with a touch of worry in his eyes.

"I protect you both," I opened the bottle to the small potion and drank it, "I'll use this crystal when I have to."

  I grabbed a small ball of string I had. I made a makeshift necklace for the crystal and tied it around my neck with a slip knot. I wouldn't let either of them fall into harm.

  Just until his body is back, I'll make use I don't use this emerald to chaos control.

PoV: ...

"So, what is this machine for?"

"Ah! But to take down the rest of my pesty enemies of course. And to do that, we'll need all seven emeralds."

"Aren't you aware of what happened to the blue emerald-"

"Of course I am! But that won't stop me. The blue emerald is just fine. And of I can get rid of the rest of them, I can take over the world no problem!"

"Yes sir."

"Now! Begin the search once again! Oh oh oh oh!!"
