Chapter IV

"People are pretty much alike. It's only that our differences are more susceptible to definition than our similarities."

Friday.

The day that we all look forward to, the last day of the week. Which means no school tomorrow! After changing into my outfit for today [picture in the above media] I walked down the stairs for some breakfast.

"Dominika" I heard someone call my name. I looked up to a grinning Wyatt, looking all so cheerful.

"Wyatt" I smiled back, walking over to embrace him in a tight bear hug.

"I didn't know you were home?" he asked, releasing from the hug raising his eyebrow in confusion.

"I'm leaving right after I eat breakfast actually." I replied.

"And not without me." Amalia interrupts coming down the stairs.

"Look who finally decided to go to school?" I shake my head whilst rolling my eyes at her.

"I just realized that being here is boring, I mean yeah it's a huge house but way too boring!" she exclaims with mock irritation in her voice.

"Amalia, respect yourself." I scoff.

"Whatever ... Oh, hey Wyatt" she turns to talk to our cousin.

Amalia looked amazing, even better than I.

At our old school she was the popular one, always getting the attention and guys falling at her feet almost every day. Most girls would envy her but I wasn't too bothered on gaining that much attention.

Once I'm done eating my food, I grab my bag and call Amalia.

"Goodbye Fred." I tell driver walking out into school property.

Amalia bangs the double entrance doors open, gaining the attention of every pupil in the hallway. People are now whispering, guys are drooling and girls are glaring.

Oh, how I love the attention. Not.

....

"Hey, have you seen the new girl?" Kelsey whispered plotting herself down next to me.

"Let me guess, her name is Amalia?" I raise my eyebrows.

"Yes how did you know?" she narrows her sky blue eyes at me.

"She's my sister." I state as a matter-of-factly.

"Oh, that's interesting." She nods causing a light chuckle to escape my lips. Kelsey and I spent the whole lecture chatting and laughing at some nutty jokes she would crack. Soon enough the bell rang signaling it was lunchtime.

I waved Kelsey off letting her know that I was going to use my lunch break to go study in the library.

"Hello." I waved at the old lady with a book in her hands and her spectacles at the edge of her nose. What is it with libraries always having old ladies anyway?

I grabbed out my books and placed my phone on the table, setting it on silent. I was half-way in my session when I noticed someone familiar walk in.

"Oh hey!" I greeted Tobias waving him over to where I was.

"I didn't know you come here?" he asked cocking a brow while taking a seat next to me.

I rolled my eyes smiling. "I do actually."

"So. Um, is Natalie with you?" He asked rubbing the back of his neck.

"No, she's back at the cafeteria. Why?"

"Its nothing?" He said seeing to be unsure of himself.

"You don't have to pretend Tobias, I know you like her." I grinned cheerily once I noticed his cheeks heating up.

"Besides -" I started putting my hands on his shoulder. "She likes you too" with that said his head snapped up to mine, happiness evident in his eyes.

"Are you sure? What if I go talk to her and...and." I hugged him.

"You're such a drama queen, just trust me."

"Thanks again um?"

"Dominika" I smiled.

"I should go get the book I was looking for now" he laughed turning around. At the back stood Natalie looking furious.

"Go get her!" I pushed Tobias as he ran after her.

I put the books away and grabbed my bag. Walking out the now suddenly empty library, I notice people are running around the hallway and out the doors.

"What's happening?" I ask a girl running out as well.

"Principal Jenkins dismissed the school because apparently the vandaliser was found spraying on school property outback. Well, he hasn't been caught yet but is being chased around the school. Mr Jenkins believes they will catch him this time because he's set tight security around the school. I say its best you leave like everyone else is." She said.

"Oh thanks for the memo" I smiled at her as she walked out.

I made my way out of school and decided to call the driver using my phone and.... wait my phone! I screamed internally.

I left it on the table in the library when putting it on silent. Shoot. Quickly running up the stairs and into the almost empty school. I reached for the library doors but not to my luck they were locked. Oh, no.

Contemplating on whether to just leave, I thought I could check the back door. I ran towards the back and just before I could make a left turn my body collided with someones who looked like he/she had been running.

I rubbed my sore head and looked at the person. He was in all black and had a mask, a black bag and some spray cans in hes hands. I realized who it was. The vandaliser.

I was about to yell when he put his arm around my waist and dragged me into the library through the back door.

I struggled and struggled thinking he was going to kidnap me and hit him where the sun don't shine. He cursed bending down to hold his junk while I ran to the table to grab my phone.

The phone was ringing on the table, so I quickly grabbed it and answered without looking to whom the caller ID was.

"Hello" I spoke.

"Dominika come home quick." My Grandma said, sounding tense.

"Why do you sound so tense." I asked, curiosity taking the best of me.

I heard noises outside and realized that it was the guards who were chasing the vandaliser, who was apparently with me!

"Dominika you'll see him yourself just get home quick." She murmured.

"Nana just tell me." I yelled clenching my fists. I looked up and started running once again.

"I see him!" I heard one shout.

No, no, no. You have the wrong person. I was about to make my way to the back door when I was pulled into a dark tight space and my body was pressed against someone.

I looked down at his chest seeing his shirt and recognizing it as the vandaliser's I saw earlier.

I gaze up and I'm met face to face with Dominic, before I decide to mentally break down my Grandma replies to my previous question that almost knocks the breath out of my lungs, making me feel like fainting.

"The man who killed your mum."
