Chapter Nine
"NO! But remember that one match? The ball was totally in, but they called it out! Serena should've gotten that point-"
Missy and you were conversing on bad calls in tennis matches. You weren't that much into tennis, but Missy on the other hand. Obsessed much? Yes. Missy was in a heated rant about a bad call on her all time favorite player, Serena Williams, but was cut off when the doors to the dojo slid open. You and Missy turned around on the couch, resting on your knees and peeking over the top edge. You both watched with wide eyes as a giant anthropomorphic rat stepped out, dressed in a Japanese looking robe, and holding a emerald green scepter with bandaged, long nailed hands. You did all you could to keep your jaw hinged shut. Missy scooted a bit closer to you. You couldn't tell whether it was out of fear or if it was to protect you, but either way you knew that Missy wasn't going to be leaving your side.
The rat stood before you, deep brown eyes flickering between you and Missy. You chanced to glance away from his gaze to behind him to see the four turtle brothers gathered and watching the rat. Your eyes averted back to rodent when he spoke in a calm, deep voice.
"So, I am led to believe that one of you is an alien, and the other, a friend for support. Which one of you is the alien?" His voice had a slight accent to it, you couldn't quite put your finger on what kind of accent it was though. Missy timidly rose her hand, it shook a bit as it went into the air. The rat took Missy's shaking hand in his own, holding it gently.
"Welcome to our home." His brown eyes switched to yours. "Welcome to you as well." He set Missy's hand back down onto the back edge of the couch and stepped back amongst the turtles, who were still watching the rodent intently.
"I am Hamato Yoshi, but you may call me Splinter."
Ah, so this is Splinter. He must be Japanese, I mean the robe and name kinda give it away but assuming is a stupid thing to do. You thought.
"I am assuming that you already know my sons."
Never mind then.
"Ye-yeah, we do," Missy said on the behalf of both of you.
"My name is Miss- well, my given name is Miscellaneous, but you can call my Missy."
Miscellaneous? Weird. Well, then again she is an alien.
Splinter looked to you.
"And you?" He asked. You introduced yourself holding your hand out for Splinter to shake. He took it, shaking it gingerly.
"As I said before, you're both very welcome to stay here until the Kraang have gone off your trail." The rodent closed his eyes and started walking towards the dojo.
"I am going to meditate. My sons will show you around the lair." He said as he stood in the doorway. Splinter nodded to both you and Missy and to the turtles, then closed the door.
It was silent for a few moments.
"That was so cool." You said.
"Awesome." Missy chimed.
"What? The giant talking rat? That's nothing." Raphael waved you both off as he vaulted over the edge of the couch, landing next to Missy.
"I don't know, talking rat is up there with Greshli." The alien said. Donatello cautiously stepped over the top of the couch and sat down next to you, Michelangelo giggling softly to himself and Donnie shooting a glare his way.
"What's the shell is a Greshli?"
"Greshling when not plural." Missy chided, settling herself back down the cushion she was on.
"So, what is it?" Donnie asked, leaning forward a bit to look past you to the alien beside you.
"Well, it's an animal species on my planet. It kinda looks like your earth's dinosaur, uh, what was it called- A RAPTOR! Yes, that's it. Except it's size smaller than a horse."
Missy went on to describe the species of her alien planet, which ended with Mikey begging for Donnie to make one, who then explained that he can't create life. When she had finished, ending the topic with how they can kill you with just a flick of their black acidic tongues, it was getting close for the turtles to go on patrol. Leonardo volunteered to have you and Missy stay in his room, but Donatello cut in.
"They can stay in my room!" He said.
"Then where will you sleep?" You asked. You didn't want to put any of the turtles out of their rooms and make them sleep on the couch. Donatello waved you off.
"Sleep? What's that?"
You giggled, earning a gap toothed grin from the turtle.
"It's settled then, you two can stay in Donnie's room. Master Splinter can help you with anything if you need it. We'll be back in an hour or two." Leo said. You nodded and watched the turtles jump over to the stairs and over the turnstiles and into the dark tunnels of the subways. Donnie was the last one out, and seemed to be showing off a bit with his parkour skills, looking back at you when he did something he thought to be cool. You smiled a bit, watching him do one final flip and follow his brothers.
"Oooh~" Missy cut in from your gaze.
"What?"
"I saw that look~"
You frowned and lightly slapped Missy's head.
"They never did show us around." You muttered as you got up to explore the lair, your alien friend following you, frowning that you completely dissed the whole 'You Giving Donatello A Look' thing. As time went on, both you and Missy had successfully explored the lair, finding the bathroom and easily identifying the bedrooms. Seriously, Michelangelo's was a mess, Raphael's was a mix between weight room and comic book store, Leonardo's was all nice and neat, and Donatello's looked like it's only been used three times at least. As you were exploring the kitchen, the only place you hadn't fully journeyed through, Missy started to feel woozy, sweat close to dripping off her face. Her clothes started to cling to her and soak up her sweat.
"Missy, are you okay?" You finally asked, looking over your shoulder from the refrigerator that was filled with nothing but pizza and soda. Missy let out a groan.
"What- wha- what time is it?" She asked, taking off her jacket, which was something she rarely did.
"I don't know-" You looked at the microwave that was embedded into the kitchen wall. "It's 11:45."
"O-okay-" Missy meant to carry on in her sentence but cut herself off with a groan and a stumble to the floor.
"Missy!" You got on the floor and held her face in your hands. She didn't look good, her eyes were starting to dull, her face paler, sweat matting her bangs to her forehead.
"H-hey, am-am I on the floor?" She asked, eyelids half-lidded.
"I'm taking you to Splinter, maybe he can help." You struggled, but was finally able to pick up Missy and start towards the dojo. As you turned to corner of the kitchen, there Splinter was standing, startling you.
"Holy sh-" Splinter cut you off before you could curse.
"What's wrong with Missy?"
"I-I don't know, she's been getting all sweaty and I don't know she's an alien!" You said, letting Splinter take Missy from you and leading the way into the dojo. The rat laid her down on the mat covered floor, sitting on his knees and leaning over to look her over. You did the same on the opposite side.
"Missy, can you hear me?" Missy's head lolled to the side where Splinter was.
"Hey, I-I'm really fine I j-just-" A groan interrupted her. You gasped and took your friend's hand in both of yours, holding her hand seemed like all you could do.
"I do not know what I can do." Splinter said, looking to you. Your eyes widened and you looked back down to Missy, who's eyes were fluttering open and closed.
"She is not of this world, I do not know if what I can do can help her." Splinter continued.
"L-look-" Missy croaked out, wincing past some pain, "I just nee-need to change f-form. M-my orig-original form."
You blanked. You suddenly remembered how when you first came to the lair that Missy was going to tell you something about her original form. You stared at your friend for a moment, before raising your voice to hysterics.
"Then why haven't you?!" Missy groaned out a short laugh, smiling. Even when in extreme pain, she'd act like it was nothing.
"I'm s-stupid that-that's why." Missy closed her eyes, sighing.
"You b-both might want t-to step bac-back." She said, not opening her eyes. You and Splinter stood and took a few steps away from the girl laying on the floor. You both shielded your eyes as a bright light consumed the room. It was brighter than the one when you and Missy were ambushed by the Kraang, but it was shorter, lasting only milliseconds. You uncovered your eyes, your arms falling to your sides and your jaw dropping. It took a second before you rushed over to the 'new' being laying on the floor in Missy's place. You couldn't help but stare, they were so- white.
