Chapter - 8 : water under the plain, faces on the wall

"Javier !!!" Jenson yells out, " Javier !!", there was nothing to be heard after the gun shot at this moment,
" where is he?" O'roro asked
"I don't know he was right behind us, or at least he should of been" Jenson replies,
"What the hell did he shoot for, do you think what ever it was following us got him, when it seen Javier alone" O'roro started saying,
" I hope not",
Jenson and O'roro both call out, but hear no response.

Then there was a beep of the motion tracker, both O'roro and Jenson look at there motion trackers, the counter is reading right in front of them,
And it was coming fast,
" fuck stand back, get your gun ready O'roro it could be that thing" Jenson said walking back with O'roro, he holds his pulse rifle up in aiming position, O'roro could still not hold her pulse rifle, so she holds her colt in her left arm as best she could, waiting for this beep to close in on them, they were ready for whatever it is, maybe.

The motion tracker read 40 metres, 30, 20, " be ready O'roro "
They both look down there sights and breathe deep, ready to fire,
Silence fell upon them all waiting, 10 metres,
" right on top of us"
Then out from the darkness, this white snake like creature with flaps rolls down, tumbling, Jenson and O'roro hold fire, for a second, then Javier follows right after the creature,
"Thank god Javier, you had me fucking worried" O'roro said lowering her weapon,
" what the fuck is that" Jenson says lowering his weapon and pointing to the dead creature that rolled from the darkness before Javier.
" I don't know what it is, it attacked me just as I was about to follow you guys,just as it pounced I shot the fucker, none of its blood got on me luckily"
Javier replied,
"It's got the same blood as the other things you mean, those black things" Jenson asked still looking at the creature,
" yeah it shot behind the bloody thing lucky and as it fell down this hole, behind it I had seen the blood from the creature burn away like acid on cardboard"
" God dammit" Jenson says " so not only have we got these black fuckers, we have also got to deal with these things, what else can this planet throw at us"
" don't say that corporal you will give us bad voodoo" O'roro replied looking a little more alive now although her arm was scarred and still looked like a weight to her,
" sorry " Jenson replied ,
"Do you think it was that thing following us the whole time back there"
" no i checked my motion tracker before I jumped down just to make sure, and there is still something following us what ever this Thing is it came from a hole in the ground, back up there, so we have to watch where we go in here because there could be more"
"Alright Javier, as long as your alright" Jenson said
" I'm good, just a bit spooked is all, from that thing it creeped up on me"
"It is a scary looking bastard, but those other things, were worse," O'roro said
" right now guys this planet is scary, and dangerous, we need to get of this planet, because we are running out of time, we need to move".

The team nodded,
"So I guess this is the only way we can go" Beth said pointing ahead of her,
"I guess so" Jenson replied "that water we can hear, I think we need to get to it if there is a stream, it has got to lead to an exit, the water has got to go somewhere doesn't it"
" yeah you may be right, and hopefully the water is drinkable, I'm all out now in my pack" Javier said tapping his water pack on his right leg,
" I think we are all out of water, let's find this stream, and hope for the best and maybe we will have a straight run from here on out" Jenson said walking in the only direction they can move, waving for his team to follow.

As they were all walking through the cave ahead, the water drops sound like heavy rain falling, the air is clean and fresh, probably fresher than earth is, there wouldn't be any pollution to contaminate, this planet, well that anyone knows of anyway, the walls are glossy in there own way, it sometimes glitters like diamonds, when the light from there torches hits them, it was beautiful, it's been the only beautiful sight that this team has seen, through this mission, it's always good to see the light, it helps to pull you from the darkness that you are being dragged into, when everything around you is falling to pieces, losing friends, being chased by creatures that want nothing but to feast upon your dead corpse, if you can find hope in the darkest of places in body and mind you will always find a way out of anyplace, you just have to keep pushing and not let anything bring you down.

"Look up ahead" Philip said aloud, "water, we found the stream"
They all smiled as they walked up to the stream, standing next to the stream watching the water flowing softly, the sound of it was relaxing, which is what they all needed at this moment,
"How can we know if the water is safe" O'roro asked
"I'll put some in this tube, and see what colour it changes when I add a powder, it will tell us of the water is clear, and suitable for us to drink"
Beth says as she pulls out the tube and powder, Beth squats down and fills the tube half way, then adds the powder re-applies the lid and waits a few seconds,
"Can I ask why did you happen to have that stuff on you" asked Jenson,
"It's a long story, but the short of it is I went to a planet in the zeta 4 system for Weyland-yutani corporation, and the place was just a jungle, my team had gotten lost similar to what's happening to us, just without the deadly creatures, the air was suitable for humans to breathe, and the climates were good, but during the time we were lost, my team had run out of water, they were all dehydrating fast because there were two suns, being under the light was hard sometimes, it would just make you always thirsty, and sometimes crazy, anyway we found a river, and my team had drank from it , something happened to them, it's like they all started choking, drowning, they were grabbing there throats, water that they had just drank, started spewing from there mouth,after a few seconds of water coming from theres mouths they fell, onto the dirt, underneath there feet, and blood started flowing from there mouth, eyes, ears, it was horrible, it was like someone threw a blender down there throats, and switched it on"
"Jesus" replied O'roro in shock, then looking at the water,
"Yeah it was horrible, then ever since that I have been carrying these things around me in case the same thing happened and I needed to check the water again",
"How come you didn't drink any?" Javier asked
"I was lucky, I was about to have a drink, I was the last to go, everyone else run for the water, smothered there faces, rolled around in, and drank it, then when I was about to drink from the water, they started choking and I backed away, after seeing for a few minutes what had happened to them, I just ran, and luckily I was saved"

"The universe is one fucked up place" Javier said
"So what's this water like then Beth" Jenson asked looking at the stream
"Well my readings are good" Beth smiled, cleaner than earth water,
"Are you sure?" Asked Jenson " I don't really want a blender down my throat making me choke"
" no it's fine, I am sure" replied beth
"Alright then" Jenson said Unclipping his water pack from his right leg, bending down on the edge of the stream, and fills up his pack,
He stands back up when it's full, and just looks at Beth for a second, hoping that she is right about this water, if she is wrong then they are all fucked.
He hesitates for a second before tilting back and taking a sip from the pack,
"It's alright" Jenson says taking another sip from the pack, he then pours some on his face,
"This is the freshest water I have tasted" he said smiling for a second, forgetting about where he is, and just enjoying the moment, he pours some on his face to refresh himself, the others smile as well as they take off there packs as well, and fill there up, with the freshest water and drink, and splash some in there faces.

O'roro is putting some on her arm where the acid had burned through her Eco suit,
"That feels so much better" O'roro says waters streaming over and cooling her arm from the acid burn,
"Doesn't look so bad now O'roro, is it feeling better" Javier asks while taking a drink of water,
"Still hurts a little, but that rest had helped a lot" O'roro replied taking a drink now from her pack,
"Alright guys, let's fill our packs to the rim, and move the sooner we get out of here the better" Jenson said to the team re attaching his pack to his right leg,
The team nodded and started strapping there packs back on as well.

Philip looked at O'roro's arm for a second while attaching his pack, and then looked at Jenson,
"Hey corporal what are we gonna do about O'roro Eco suit, if she gets to in stable air she will probably suffocate because of the whole in the arm"
"Shit" replied Jenson "hopefully we can get in contact when signal comes on with the general where ever we come up and get him to bring the apc over with the spare suits In them" Jenson replied looking at O'roro's arm
" might be our only shot" O'roro replied
" in the mean time Beth" Jenson says looking over at her " keep an eye on oxygen levels, so we don't get caught out" about to look away Jenson noticed something about beth and asks, " hey beth aren't you gonna fill your drinking pack"
"Already full corporal, I've been to excited to drink" Beth replies tapping the pack
" but you didn't even touch this water" Jenson says pointing to the stream of fresh water floating over the rocks gently,
"I had some from my pack before I don't reckon we are gonna be here much longer"
" still wouldn't you want to preserve what you got and drink as much as you can before we make another move"
" I'm all good corporal honestly, I'm not thirsty, I don't normally drink much, unless I need a refuel" Beth laughed at the end.

"Alright then " Jenson said shrugging his shoulders, he just thought that it is weird that she wouldn't want to stock up on this fresh water being here for that reason, but he just shrugged it off, " alright let's keep moving guys"
Jenson waves on his team and starts walking down the stream,
"Hopefully this stream will take us to the exit of this place" Jenson says, following the flow of water through dark passage ways.

" you know following this stream kind of reminds me of the Acheron" Javier says watching the water flow, while walking beside it,
"What's the Acheron" asked O'roro
"It is known as the river of hades, it's a river full of souls drowning in eternity, and the river lead to the gates of hades, where your soul reside forever in torment" Javier replied in a serious tone
"So in other words you mean, you follow the river to hell" Jenson replied walking in front of the team,
"Yeah well which ever way you look at it but I think my way sounds better" Javier let out a little laughter,
"Or what your trying to say is Javier is that we are following this river right to our own hell" Beth replies seriously not averting her eye from in front of her,
"Wow Beth that's a bit dark" Javier replied in a low tone, as if he was a little sad from that comment,
"Well just saying that's all" Beth said not blinking an eye, " and from all we know you maybe right, look at what we have encountered so far"

"Ok let's not talk about it anymore" Javier said going back to watching the stream,
" look ...up ahead" Jenson said pointing moving faster in that direction,
"Whoa, what the hell are they" Javier said walking towards the direction Jenson was pointing, everyone followed not far behind never straying to far from the group.

" these things are like big.." O'roro starting saying,
"Human faces " Jenson finished
Beth walks up to the faces sculpted to the walls of the cave, got close to study them,
" no Jenson I don't think they are human, I think they are the sculptures of our gods"
"What?" Jenson said confused
" that report we found of Peter Weylands, I read more of of while we were resting, and it mentioned that, dr Elizabeth shaw was in search for our engineers, and that she had found them here on this planet, which is what I would assume that big white human looking thing is"
"So your saying that dead human thing, is our ancestor" Javier asked curious
" no Javier I'm saying that they are our creators, they had created human life, I don't know what exactly happened on this planet, but it doesn't look like the engineers were happy with there creations,no one probably knows why but there would have to be a big reason behind it maybe that's what Elizabeth shaw was searching for?" Beth replied looking at the faces on the wall,
"So these faces" Javier pointed to the faces, " are our gods"
"Yes it looks like it from the research anyway"
"Great and human kind has pissed off our gods, we right fucked the aren't we" Javier said shaking his head,
"We really must be going to hades".

Jensons motion tracker started going off just the one beep again, must be the thing following them, but his time It just kept coming towards them,
"Fuck quickly hide in the walls" Jenson said,
Everyone hid in cracks in the walls between the faces of the gods,
Jensons motion tracker as counting down the thing was only 50 metres away and closing, Jenson put his finger against his lips signalling the others to be quiet, then motioned to ready weapons.

The motion tracker beep was tormenting as it beeped down, it read that it was 20 metres away, Jenson pulled his pulse rifle up to ready himself to fire at the creature stalking them,.......

5metres, Jenson peaked his head around the corner slightly and heard heavy foot steps and purring, which creeped through him, he seen the thing stalking them, but it was different to the ones he had seen before when they were attacked in the pilots room, this one was taller instead of a smooth looking head that ended in a slight point, it had a banana shaped head, glossy sharp teeth, it had ridges, across its head, and pipe looking things sticking out of its back, long black fingers, and a long tail which had a sharp point it looked sharp enough to pierce steel with enough force,
Jenson threw his head back out of sight of this nightmarish creature, and waved to his team to keep the guns down and don't fire, the creature stalked into sight of the rest of the team, all there hearts beating a mile an hour, sweat pouring from them stinging there eyes, fear really kicking in again, something so big in front of them, that looked scarier than the previous ones,
It was a lurker of the darkness hunting its prey through the darkness, spreading the fear through their prey before they pounce, different to the others how they worked in groups, this one was a lone alien, working on fear.

As the creature walks past the team hiding between the faces of the gods, slowly being dragged behind the creature, by the foot was their comrade jay, unconscious but looked unharmed and barely alive, but still alive which is a good sign, Jenson thinks to himself ' why is he still alive, that thing should have killed him in seconds' it had to be taking jay somewhere, but where, where would this thing take its prey, before killing them, they seemed like smart creatures, but not smart enough for rituals, or sacrifices, it had to be something else, something more terrifying.

Javier mouthed over to Jenson 'jay', Jenson nodded and pointed to his pulse shaking his head, and motioned with his fingers to follow this thing, Javier nodded, and put his gun down.
If they had shot they could have killed jay, where if they don't shoot and just follow this thing, when the creature releases jay, for a second, they might be able to take the shot to save him, if they shot while he is being dragged the creatures blood could boil him alive, eat through his skin and ones until nothing is left.

When the creature was far enough ahead on the motion tracker the team came out from between the faces, Jenson put his finger to his mouth again saying quiet, and pointed in the direction of the creature, they followed silently into the darkness, keeping there torch lights low to the ground only to see where they are walking, so they don't step on something to alert the thing, they are following the creature until it stops, where it stops who knows maybe at an exit of this place, or deeper underground, where they could very well meet the devil in its full form, not knowing is the worst part, are there souls gonna be lost forever or are they gonna save one from eternity of torture.
