CHAPTER 4 - ONLY THE DEVIL PLAYS GAMES

"beth, philip you might want to get down here now i think we found something that might tell us what happened to the prometheus, it may not be the whole story but its somewhere to start" Jenson says over the intercom
"On our way" replied Beth .

Jenson looked away from the things on the floor, and touched his intercom,
"Jay come in we found something inside and they look alien keep your eyes open and contact me if you see anything"
" copy that " jay replies " haven't seen anything as of yet "
"Good keep your radio on and eyes open".

Javier stared at the things on the floor in shock, as if he couldn't move, Beth came from behind and looked in shock and curiosity,
Beth gets on her knees and gets closer to the species to study it,
"Becarful Beth don't get to close" Jenson says holding his pulse rifle facing the thing on the ground
"What the fuck is that " O'roro says walking up from behind
"I don't know O'roro " replied Jenson
"One of them almost looks ...human" O'roro said in shock
"I know just really pale, big and it has no stomach left it's almost like something ate his insides and burst out like a trapped rat under heat" replied Jenson
Beth is taking samples of skin from the human looking one and putting it in a tube, what ever she can get from it she will get,
"Will you be able to find out if it's human Beth or what happened to ..it" says Jenson
"I could but I will need to take these back to my lab and spend sometime on them we wouldn't be able to get these specimens back to the ship would we"
"No contaminate situation crap and also I wouldn't have that fucking thing on the same ship and the octopus looking one no fucking way get your samples and let's get out of here" Jenson said
"Scaredy cat" Beth replied to Jenson smiling then turning back to the human looking thing.

"General we are getting samples from the specimens and having another quick look around for any flight recorders then we will be leaving to meet up with Farqs team" jenson said to his intercom
"Ok Jenson make it quick get what you need and get out" replied the general
"Going as fast we can general Dax out"
Jenson muted his communication for a minute
"He can be an asshole sometimes" Jenson turned and said to O'roro and Javier
"I think he knows something we don't Jenson " O'roro replied
"I think you maybe right lets hurry this up, you nearly finished beth" Jenson said now looking at Beth
"Any minute" she replied walking over to the octopus looking thing now
"Beth becarful" Jenson said
"It's dead Jenson it's not moving anywhere" she laughed
" You never know" Jenson replied
"Although I do think something did come out of this one" Beth said pointing at the human like creature
"Why's that" replied Jenson
"Because of the way his stomach is split open and there's a big blood splatter on the floor next to it, and then trailing off away from the bodies it's very faint but you can see it" replied Beth
"Shit so something could be alive in here with us right now"
"Could be Jenson but remember it has been about 86 years or less that this has happened anything could have happened, what could it have eaten to survive or maybe it doesn't need to eat and it just hibernates until awoken then goes looking for food"
"Either way Beth we got to get the fuck out of here get your shit we are leaving in 5"
Jenson said walking back down the corridor to the first room they entered,
"Jay keep your eyes open we think something may be around us, nothing serious right now but just stay alert" Jenson said to his intercom
"Yes sir I haven't seen anything yet but will stay alert" jay replies
" Good we will be out in 5"
O'roro stayed with Beth to make sure nothing happened to her, and Philip went with Jenson and Javier to the first room again they started looking around for a power supply button to hopefully re-surply power to the main frame and get some information before they leave, maybe something recorded what happened here, or at least on this ship,
"Javier find anything to get the power back on yet" Jenson said
"Maybe sir give me a second" Javier replied
Javier was looking at a hole in the wall that could be the power switch the casing must have snapped off during the crash, Javier started flicking some switches, eventually the power flickered on.
The room lit up on and off, dark light dark light, the big screen came on and shown some images of a small girl and probably her father playing near a tree it was hard to tell because the screen was flickering on and off aswell,
"Good stuff Javier we better hurry up cause I don't think we have long before it cuts off again"Jenson said
Javier nodded and they all started looking around for any sort of flight recorder or paper work anything but the room was in such a state you couldn't find anything especially with the lights flickering and tubes dangling in your face, Beth and O'roro came walking out of he corridor looking at the screen as they came up to Jenson,

"Who's that little girl on the screen " O'roro said to Jenson while he looks for anything
"I'm not sure"
"I may have found something sir back there in the corridor there was another little room the office I think and I seen this on the desk" O'roro hands Jenson a folder and a small hand held video recorder made by weyland-yutani, Jenson takes them from O'roro and looks at them, the folder read (mission to lv-223 search for the engineers), Jenson looks at the folder curiously Jenson hands Philip the video recorder and says
"See if you can get this working Philip"
"Um yes corporal" philipi replied receiving the video recorder and turning it over looking at it,
Jenson looks back at the folder, opens it up and starts reading.

Date August 3rd 2093

Dr. Elizabeth shaw and Dr Charlie holloway and there team found ancient paintings and significant artefacts surrounding our human origins, our creators, or so called engineers, the artifacts found were star maps, in fact the same star maps all pre-dating each other, but all the same and the maps all lead to this planet now named Lv-223, i Peter weyland have not told anyone I was coming along on the trip I planned not even my beloved daughter who is coming along to, Dr. Shaw and Dr. Holloway both are going for the same thing yet I am going for something else, I am going for immortality I want to ask our engineers if they can make me live forever, I know it can be done, and this just may be the answer I am looking for, Dr. Shaw on the other hand is in search for an answer to her question, why create us, that was her main question I'm sure she had more in her mind, you never know what people are thinking what questions run in and out of there head a million a sec maybe more but not all questions have answer that can be told some answers you have to wait and find out, they can be a mystery sometimes, this is a quest I believe we will never forget.

P weyland
"That greedy old bastard, searching for immortality" Jenson said
"I take it he didn't find it" O'roro laughed
"I don't believe so O'roro, there's no such thing as immortality we will all die when the time is right, but I'm not gonna die down on this planet like they did" Jenson replied closing the folder and handing it over to Philip who was reading over his shoulder
"You can read it now with out breathing down my neck gives me the creeps Philip"
"Sorry corporal " Philip replied looking down and packing the folder away in his side pack, Philip looks up after he zips his side pack shut and pushes his glasses back on to his face when they slid down to the tip of his nose,
Jenson and O'roro just look at Philip,
"Such a nerd move Philip" Jenson and O'roro laughed
Philip just gave an awkward smile as in saying he's not taking offence.
"Did you get the video working Philip " said Jenson
" no corporal I think it's busted, it's not coming on and there's no sd card inside" Philip replied jittery
"Ok then leave it on the desk we don't need it"
"Ok sure corporal" Philip replied just looking at Jenson,
Jenson looked away back at O'roro, then back to Philip, he was still holding the camera,
"Are you gonna put it down or what"
"Ah yes sorry sir" Philip said putting the video recorder down on r desk in front of him.

Beth walks up to Jenson packing her tubes away safely in her side pack similar to the one that Philip has,
"Alright corporal I'm ready to go did you find a flight recorder or anything" Beth says looking up at Jenson and O'roro
"What ?"Beth says
Jenson and O'roro just look at each other and say
"Nerds"
"Ha ha funny " Beth replies
"I have got everything I need now and I didn't see anything else of interest in any of the other room they were just all damaged especially the medical bay I don't want to know what happened there" Beth says to Jenson
"Ok well let's go then Javier pack it up we are leaving"
"Ok " Javier replies making his way from across the room to them.

They start making there way to the exit,
"Jay we are coming out copy"
.....there was only silence jay had not responded
Jenson puts his hand up to stop his team, " jay respond" he says again
...."sorry corporal" came the response
" dammit jay you started to scare me" Jenson responds
" yeah sorry man I zoned out for a second it's all clear out here ... For now anyway I wouldn't want to be out here much longer I'm already going nuts"
Jay laughed at the end
" alright we are on the way out"
"Copy that I will get the door there might be enough power to open it for a couple of seconds I noticed at least you got the emergency supply on give me a second....done"
The door struggles to open from the damage and minimal power but enough for them to get out of there,
"Good shit jay alright guys lets meet up with Farq and his team and get the fuck off this planet" Jenson say as they all start to leave through the door Beth was first, Jenson look behind him and sees Philip playing with his bag again,
" what are you doing Philip" Jenson says curiously looking at Philip like he was up to no good,
" oh ...um.. The file was a poking out a bit I had to put it in a bit more just so it didn't fly out or anything" Philips replies nervously which is what he normally sounds like any way when he talks, Jenson just squints his eyes at Philip for a second
Ike he was unsure about Philips response, thinking is he playing me or is he really just always this jumpy,

"Alright Philip hurry up get in front with Beth ..go" Jenson says
Philip jumps a little as Jenson says go and he makes his way out the door following the others,
" jumpy little fucker" Jenson says to himself then touches the intercom
"General we are leaving .." Suddenly behind Jenson he heard a scuttle, Jenson turns around and looks back into the main room lights still flickering, screen still flipping out but couldn't see anything unusual, Jenson touches the intercom again,
"General we are leaving what's left of the Prometheus and meeting up with Farq and his team copy" still looking into the room but still seeing nothing
" copy Jenson 7 hours left keep what ever you find close and don't fucking lose it" replied the general
" copy that" Jenson replied then turned of the intercom and finished with " asshole".

Jenson jumped out the door and it shut behind him, and he caught up with his group which were only a few metres ahead of him,
"Alright boys and girls when we get inside the horse shoe rock thing pull up the maps In the helmet and find Farq and his team if we work together and stick together we will get out of here sooner ...lets go" Jenson says to his team, they all start walking towards the horse shoe shaped rock, and O'roro pulls up next Jenson, the rest of the group is up front, jay is trying to sweet talk Beth, probably talking about how awesome he plays guitar or something that man try's to hard, Philip is walking next to Beth listening to jays crap and Javier is just minding his own business like he normally does, he's just doing his job.

Jenson leans a little closer to O'roro and she listens,
" I don't trust that little hobbit, O'roro I think he may be up to something we don't know"
"Why do you say the Dax"
" before when we were about to leave I thought I seen him slip something in his bag and when I asked about it he got jumpy and nervous and tried to think of an excuse"
"He's always jumpy and nervous, I mean who wouldn't be on this planet and seeing that thing on the ground " O'roro shakes her head in disgust
"Those tentacles will give me nightmares for ever now, I will never sleep the same"
" yeah but he was more jumpy and nervous this time, all I'm saying is I don't trust him just do me a favour and keep an eye on him for me please"
"Ok corporal you da boss" O'roro agrees as they continue walking behind the other
"Thank you" replied Jenson
And they continue walking to the horse shoe rock, in the distance maybe 30 or 40 metres they see the apc sitting in open space,

Jay turns to Javier and says
"What do you think the general is doing in there, I would get bored shitless sitting down in a safe and secure location, where the sense of adventure"
Beth still walking turns head head to jay and replies for Javier
"You wouldn't be saying that if you had that ugly monster attached to your face, or that giant human thing chasing you"
"Eh... I would gun the fuckers down bam bam " jay responds making gun noises and motions as if he were gunning them down,
"And then I would save the princess"
Jay says smiling like an asshole at Beth
"Like hell you would be screaming like a little bitch until your balls dropped again"
The group laughed and kept walking the distance talking helped pass the time and would bring them all together but sometimes it's better when there's silence because you never know if something is hunting you and has been since you set foot on planet.

Jenson turns on his intercom,
"Farq we are coming to you, we can see you location on map don't move we will be with you In 20 minutes over "
"Copy that Jenson" Farq comes over the intercom his voice stuttering and fuzzy, the signal must be bad inside of the rock, maybe the actual crust has something to do with it, "we are going inside though if your not far behind you should be able to catch up we will go slow" joked Farq,
" ha ha "laughed back Jenson sarcastically "but seriously though Farq don't go to far ahead I don't have a good feeling about this place,

"You say that for everything Jenson " replied Farq still fuzzing In and out
" fuck come on guys" Jenson said to his team we got to move I don't want them going by themselves, find where they are on the maps, let's go"
Jenson yelled looking at his team they start jogging to the entrance point where Farq, and his team must have entered the hollow of the rock,
"Shit what if we lose his signal when they go inside the rock, we won't be able to find them at all then" Jenson thinks to himself as him and his team continue to jog, Philip is falling behind he never did seem like the jogging kind,

Only about 5 minutes from the entrance of the rock Farq and his team have already made it a fair way into the the rock, according to there maps, In Jenson and his teams helmets they had made a left turn after about 30 metres from the entrance,
"Farq if you read me stop and wait up for us you signal is going fuzzy, if you keep going we might lose you" Jenson had no reply "Farq do you copy"
Jenson sounding worried now thinking that he might not find his team mates, Jenson and his team make it to the entrance of the horse shoe rock, Jenson turns to his team, O'roro,Javier, jay, Beth and Philip,
"Alright guys we have lost contact with team doll he is still alive, since contact was only just lost, but if we go in looking for him and his team we are going in blind and to be honest I'm not fond on that" Jenson say frustrated and a bit worried,
"Didn't you tell him to wait up" O'roro said
"Yeah I did But you know what Farq is like impatient cocky prick, said he would go slow and give us enough time to catch up, but his coms have dropped and as you can actually see now ...shit his signals is flashing on the map which means we will lose his position... Come on we have to find them before signal is lost follow me and be cautious, keep close and your eyes open"
Everyone nodded
"Alright turn on your lamps and let's go" Jenson said as he started walking into the hole in the side of the horse shoe rock, his team followed him, little did they know they may have followed him to there graves.

Hi guys and girls I just wanted to thank you which I probably should have done earlier, for reading the first four chapters of my novel, I really hope you are enjoying it, and I promise it will pick up, I like to build up to really drag you into the book, any way I will be releasing these chapters every week or so when they are done, and if I finish earlier than I expected, I will post a comment on my profile page, saying if I get so many reads I will post up early, and please feel free to leave comments or follow me I will keep you up to date on what I am planning and doing with my novels, once again thank you very much for taking the time to read my novel and hope you want more because the ideas are just pouring out, took my a while at first to think of how to start this novel, but now things are getting slightly easier, thank you
