Chapter Twelve : Favor? It Breaks My Heart When I Can't Do It!

Kim Tae Hyung POV

"Taehyung, dinner's ready! Come down! I made your favorite food ~ ," Seokjin shouted out loudly from the kitchen. He seemed happy.

"I'm not hungry...," I yelled back. My appetite disappeared; and suddenly I felt like I won't be cheerful ever again in my life.

"Taehyung, don't make me come there and drag your butt down here!," Seokjin yelled out furiously.
He was obviously mad about me wasting food that he made so generously.

I closed my ears shut with the pillow cushions as I stared at the white ceiling; a white blank ceiling just the same as my life.

All sound had died out and the cold, dark night filled the room. Unable to fall asleep, and holding onto the covers; suddenly that's when it strikes - a painful and an uneasy feeling.
From the depths of the heart, a thing called loneliness comes.

Jeon Jung Kook POV

"Are you okay?," I asked worriedly, rubbing in circles on my grandmother's back.

"Why did he have to leave, Kookie?," Grandma asked back with tearful eyes.

I fell silent for a while. Taehyung never really told the reason behind leaving us. But that all being-an-alien thingy...maybe that's why he left.
He should've told us about him an alien! But maybe he felt like we wouldn't believe him; and who would believe him in an advanced century like this?

But maybe Taehyung was always trying to tell me...

"I can't go back to my family. It's not so easy..."

Ugh. I'm such a fool.

Kim Seok Jin POV

"Don't you dare do that! Eat it, Taehyung!," I ordered furiously as I stuffed his mouth with boiled beans but Taehyung spat it all out.

"I. Hate. Beans!," Taehyung shouted.

"Chew it and swallow it down!," I ordered as I tightened up the invisible rope around him with my mind; while Taehyung struggled to be free.

With a disgusted face, Taehyung gulped it down without chewing.

I smiled.

Taehyung fell down from the chair; the invisible rope was no more.

"Now come on, we've got no time to waste. We need to make the communicator as soon as possible!," I spoke in a rush as I left the kitchen.

Taehyung didn't follow me.

I know he's having a hard time. I know he misses his so-called family but there is nothing I can do about it.
Humans death are inevitable; we can't stop it even if we use all of our powers.

"Taehyung?," I called.

"Hm?," Taehyung responded in a groan.

"Come on!," I ordered.

"Okay..."

Taehyung runs a bit low on feelings but that doesn't means he isn't attracted to anyone.
He has a heart; and isn't it all that is required to fall in love - a single heartbeat.

I'm afraid that once Taehyung realizes what love really is...he'll decide to stay back.

I can't let him ruin his life.

I know because... I had made the same mistake myself.

Jeon Jung Kook POV

How did it end up this way?

I stared out at the night sky, hoping to catch a glimpse of a UFO, hoping that Taehyung might jump out of it and come back to me.
I'm just being stupid now.

Taehyung could've already gone back by now. I'm such a fool. I should've held onto him and told him that it didn't mattered whether he was an alien or a human.

CLINK~ CLANG~

The sound of dishes touching the ground brought me out of my dreams.

"Grandma!?," I yelled in a panic as I ran out my room and downstairs into the kitchen where I found my Grandma on the floor, crying her eyes out.

"Grandma, are you alright?!," I questioned worriedly as I rushed over to help her up.

"Taehyung... He left all of a sudden. I - I - I don't know what to do. I'm all confused...," Grandma stuttered as she cried in my arms.

I bit my lower lip hard as I patted my Grandma lightly on her back.
Since I'm a guy... I held back my tears.

"Jungkook?"

"Hm?"

"Will you do a favor for me?"

"What is it, Grandma?"

"Will you bring Taehyung back to me?"

I widened my eyes in shock. I was hesitant, utterly speechless. As much as I want to bring Taehyung back home, I can't do it. It's impossible.

"Grandma, I --- "

"Please, Jungkook. I want to see Taehyung! Please...," Grandma pleaded with tearful eyes. She cried more as she held onto me for support.

"Grandma?"

"Hm?"

"Do you know where Taehyung left to live?"

Kim Seok Jin POV

"Taehyung, pass me that screwdriver!"

"The what?"

"Gosh! That tool you're holding in your right hand!"

"Oh! This one! Here you go!"

As I tightened up the screws on the left side of the inverter, a very creepy chill swept through me. I felt like something bad was gonna happen. Immediately, my gaze fell on Taehyung. He sat there quietly as he played with a battery.

"Taehyung?"

"Hm?"

"You must be tired. Go rest."

"Okay..."

Taehyung stood up as he placed the battery down. After that he left the basement silently.

I frowned.

I stopped working for a bit. I put all the tools aside and closed my eyes, focusing on this creepy vibe I was getting. It's closing onto me, nearer and nearer.

I hear a voice - a tired, panting, confused voice.

"I'm here in the countryside just for Taehyung...but which house is it?"

My eyes shot open. I bit my lower lip hard in frustration. Why isn't Jungkook giving up? He knows about Taehyung being an alien, so why doesn't he just let's go of him?

And then a small voice inside me said -

"Because I love him too much, I can't let him go!"

Jeon Jung Kook POV

I ran around the country side, knocking on every single door for Taehyung.
Where could he be? Which house could he be living in? That Seokjin is really smart, I'm sure he'll be living in a poor, old, run down house.

But -

I stood in the front porch of the biggest house in the whole countryside; a pretty house that catches all the attention of the visitors.

With great courage, I knocked on the front door. My cheeks burning red and my heart palpitating so fast and loud that I can hear it.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

I hope Taehyung opens the door. But how will I convince him to come back with me? After all, I was the one who yelled at him to leave.
Will Taehyung even want to see me?

I shook the freezing and cowardly thought away. I'll get all my answers once I meet him.

The door creaked opened. I smiled as I waited patiently to see Taehyung, but the one who stood before me wasn't Taehyung at all. My smile disappeared.

"I should've known you won't be giving up so fast or else I would've taken Taehyung somewhere farther away!," Seokjin said sarcastically.

"I want to speak to Taehyung!," I demanded.

"Why? Speak to me!," Seokjin muttered.

I contorted my face in fury. I wanted to punch his just so pretty face, yelling that I didn't came here all the way from Seoul just to speak to him.
But that would lead me nowhere...

"Please..."

Seokjin went speechless as he gasped in shock. It's quite rare to hear a please from me, and I absolutely hate begging. But in this case I'll make an exception.

"Please let me see Taehyung..."

Kim Tae Hyung POV

Just when I was gonna fall asleep, a funny but sweet smell tickled my nostrils. In an impulse, I sat up straight, sniffing the air fiercely.

Why do I smell Jungkook?

"Taehyung? Are you asleep?," Seokjin called out softly as he stepped into my room.

"Hyung, no, I wasn't sleeping."

"Oh...," Seokjin hesitated for a while. I noticed that his face had gone white as if he had seen a ghost. Then he spoke up, "Taehyung?"

"Hm?"

"There's someone here to meet you."

When I asked him who it was, his simple answer made me jump out my bed and run downstairs. I was just so excited to meet him.

Jungkook stood there in the doorway, his back facing me. A smile spread across my face. Just when I was gonna call his name, a voice said -

"Taehyung, don't be so selfish. If you leave with him, there's only misery for you...and him."

I shrugged at that. I questioned back -

"Why are you always like that, huh? There's will be no misery as long as Jungkook and I are together."

Immediately Seokjin responded -

"You're so naive, Taehyung. Listen to me. I speak...because...the human I loved...died because of me."

I froze up. My mind went blank. At first I thought he was only joking, but the sadness and the loneliness of his tone made me have second thoughts.

I don't want to see Jungkook dead.

And then I realized the brutal truth of reality. It all made sense to me now.

Why humans love even when they know they're gonna die; why do they age and at last die only to be forgotten as if they never existed...

I don't want this for Jungkook.

With a burdensome heart, I walked up to the front door. My smile had disappeared, and a cold-cowardly look had taken it's place.

"Jungkook?"

Jeon Jung Kook POV

I felt my heart beat even louder when I heard his deep voice call my name. With the most beautiful smile, I turned to face him. But that frozen and cold look on his face just melted my happiness away.

Taehyung didn't looked happy at all to see me.

"Taehyung - "

"Why are you here?," Taehyung questioned.

"I came here to take you back."

"Why? You told me to go away, right, so why do you want me back?"

I bit my lower lip.

"Answer me. Why are you here?," Taehyung questioned again with cold eyes.

"I came here because I realized how important you are to me. It made me happy to see you everyday with a smile, but when you suddenly left, I felt worried."

Taehyung just stared at me blankly. But his eyes...they were wavering. My words were beginning to affect him, his blank emotions.

"I came here to tell you that I'm sorry and that I miss you a lot. If I hadn't came here tonight, I...I would've regretted it for the rest of my life."

I stopped speaking because if I spoke anymore I would be crying in tears.

Now all there is left is Taehyung's answer.

"Jungkook?"

I looked up at him with a smile. But he wasn't smiling at all and this could only mean one thing -

"Go back home!," Taehyung said flatly and closed the door shut at my face.

- Rejection.

I remember crying a lot after that.
