Chapter 8
(Skyler's POV)
It took us a while but we finally got to the small town of Stony Creek where I gave Jack directions to the town mechanic.
The town is the right outside of Los Vegas so I need to know these things if I got lost.
We pulled into the shop's Garage where the car finally broke down.
All of us stepped out of the car as Jack called out for someone.
"Is anyone here!"
"We're closed!" The person said
Seth pulled me closer by my waist at the sound of someone new.
Turning in the direction the voice came from, an old Latino male came into view, sitting in a chair.
"Yeah I know you're closer but we've experienced a little bit of car trouble so if-"
"We're still closed. You should experience car trouble when we're open."
Jack tried to argue with him but was interrupted but Sarah.
"Jack Bruno, the only thing that would convince Eddie Cortez to re-open would be significant amount of money."
"Hey?" The man got up, came closer, narrowed his eyes at Sarah. "Do I know you?"
"No, No absolutely not" Jack quickly tried to cover it up before quickly showing the man the big wad of cash she got from Seth. "I double your rate."
"How about triple?" He laughted jokingly but looked at Jack in confusion when he said 'done'.
Seth's grip tightened around me and watched the man cautiously as he got closer to inspect the car.
I placed my hand on his, rubbing it soothingly; lessened his grip slightly.
"What? You got into a fight with a Rhino? Poor Rhino." The man joked. "There's a lot of stuff to do here. I don't know where to start."
Jack started tell the man what he need to do and how much time he had to do it. And with that, he got to work.
"OK let's go." I said, stepping out of Seth embrace, going toward the door with Seth and Sarah following without question.
"Where are 'we' going?" Asked Jack, stepping in out way, putting his hands on his hips like a mother ready to scold a child.
"Look I'm sure we're all frustrated and you know what calms people down when they're frustrated, food." I said, stepping around him before pointing at Ray's diner across the street. "There a diner and I'm sure we can't continue our journey on an empty stomach."
I could see the internal battle on his face as Seth and Sarah brushed passed him before signing in defeat.
We walked into the diner that had a welcoming atmosphere with a woman singing country on stag and people dancing as Jack lead us to our table, ordering us to sit. I took notice of Seth and Sarah taking the chairs on both sides of me.
A few minutes after sitting with Sarah and Seth looking all over the place, Sarah gasped.
"I hope you do not act upon your thought of making a face break out of the back door, escaping Stony Creek, never to look back at us again." She looked at Jack worriedly.
"How do you know that." He stuttered out.
"My sister also has the gift of telepathy. She can read the minds those nearest to her." Seth said
"Well you tell your sister that here on Earth, reading minds, very rude."
Technically, it is invading someone's privacy. I rubbed her shoulder, knowing that she was listening to my thoughts as she smiled at me.
"Hey guy" a blonde waitress came over with three glasses of water and a glass of juice. "Welcome to Ray's. My name is Tina and I'll be your server."
"I didn't order this." I said, seeing that she placed the juice in front of me.
"I know honey. It's from that guy over there." She smirked, pointing at a dark haired teen who was looking hungrily my way.
The next second, the juice was pushed away and my chair was pulled closer to Seth before wrapping his arms around me. I heard a low growl as he glared at the unknown boy as said boy shuttered in fear before turning away but that didn't stop Seth's glare.
My heart fluttered at his actions as I placed my hands on his cheeks, forcing him to look at me.
"Hey it's alright. I'm right here." I whispered, not wanting Tina, who was still taking to Jack.
"It is in my nature to be cautious of others when you are already mated for another." he whispered back.
"But you said your kind is only attached to their mate. Why would be cautious of others when they have a mate possible waiting for them somewhere?"
"It is true. My kind, the Akitidian, only find our mate appealing but my kind are not the only species on my planet. Their are a few who dare interfere with mate bonds." He growled out.
"Hey it alright."
"It is far from 'alright'. We need to complete it before everything to be 'alright'." He whispered in frustration.
"Complete what?" I asked but before he could answer the waitress complemented about how Seth, Sarah and I looked.
"What do you mean?" Jack asked giving off a slightly nervous attitude.
"It looked like they rolled around in a pig pen before dinner that's all." She said as the town Sheriff and the others came to her. She showed them to their table before turning to us. "Now why don't you three come with me and we'll get you three all cleaned up."
I was the first to get up. Sarah and Seth hesitated at first but followed eventually.
Tina led us to a staff wash room, handed me a damp small rag and told me to help Seth before starting to brush Sarah's hair.
I pulled Seth aside, not wanting to be over heard.
"What do we need to complete Seth?" I asked as calmly as possible as I wiped the dirt from his face.
"Our mating ritual." He muttered slightly nervous.
"What do we have to do?" I asked after I was finished with him before cleaning my face.
"You would really do it?" He asked I shock scanning my calm face through the mirror. "Why are you so calm? It is to my mind's understanding that-"
"That I would behave badly towards you and turn you in immediately?" I asked as he slowly nod his head unsurely. "I would be angry but you're not wrong." I sighed, facing him. "My kind are incredibly violent to all they consider strange and weird. They strongly believe in the concept to shoot first and ask question after only protect themselves." I got closer, placing my hand on his cheek, loving the feeling of him kissing my palm. "But not all of us are as bad as you think."
I smiled lovely at me. "I'm beginning to see that."
I smiled back as I pulled us to sit on a bench near by.
"When I was younger, I was always fascinating with romance stories but" I frowned at a distant memory. "Earth boys aren't exactly the kindest species so I gave up on love. You can say this is a dream come true." We chuckled at my lame joke. "And also." I looked into his gorgeous green eye, I've come to love in such a short time. "I can't deny the feelings I have for you, the way my heart and soul calls for you every second. That is why I'm so calm. Now what do we have to do."
"We must consummate our love." He said, smiling.
"What?"
