Chapter 12

(3p POV)

The convention was a loud mess of people as a group of 5 rushed through the crowd of weirdly dressed people.

"So how well do you know this guy." Jack as the new member of their group, Doctor Alex Freedman.

"We've done a few panels and debate together on opposite sides but no one know the shadow world of US government conspiracies better than Harlan." She stated as a man came up to her who she quickly interrupted before he could say anything. Continuing to walk pass the man before going to a booth which was occupied by two men; One, wearing casual clothes with glasses and and another, in a suit.

"Oh doctor freedman." The person in glasses started while trying to muster a cool smile. "You finally decide to accept my romantic Benny Hona dinner for two."

"What?" She asked confused.

He cleared his throat, saying "three years ago, a screening of the cooper footage; you were in the forth row, second seat in a saucy flower print."

"Sorry I..." She paused slight, trying to think about what to say. "...I keep my work and social life separate. I don't date colleges."

"Colleges?" He laughed slightly before bowing, satisfied with her answer. "Indeed."

"Look we need to see Harlan right away." Alex said with a smile.

"Doctor." The man in glasses started which was followed by the man in the suit. "Doctor Harlan is presently unavailable for consultation. We're more than qualified to answer any questions."

"We have no time for that. It is a matter of life and death that we see Harlan now." Alex said, obviously getting angry.

The two men chuckled at her. "Ok what the 411?" The man in the suit asked.

Jack impatiently got in front of Alex, glaring at the two men. "You're currently alive, unless you take us to Harlan, you'll be dead."

They both paused observing Jack careful before agreeing and mumbling to each other about both of them going.

Together they lead the group outside to a trailer then knocked on the door.

"Go away. The book signing is not until 4:30. Read the bouquet." A voice yelled from inside.

"Harlan it's Alex Freedman" She stated

Sounds of moving was heard from inside before the door opened to revealed an older looking male with grey hairs.

"Doctor Alex Freedman. Kel-surprised." He said with a smile.

"We need to speak with you immediately. It is incredible important." She said.

With that, he invited them in. Alex explained to him the lie she had spontaneously came up with.

Skyler observed the classic technology all over the trailer before her eyes caught a blueprint on the wall of a neighborhood with a very large area circled with red marker. She tried to touch it only for her hand to go through the wall and getting stuck.

Being the only one who saw, Seth quickly fazed his hand through the wall, grabbing her hand and pulling it back.

"It's getting stronger." He whispered, taking a deep breath before kiss her hand. "Don't touch anything."

"So you're saying the four of you witnessed this reported UFO crash?" Harlan asked

"That's right" Jack answered

"We were wondering if there is any intel out there amongst your sources?" Asked Alex

"I hate lying. I really don't like lying. I can tell when people are lying to me." After a short pause, Harlan smiled and said, "Thankfully your story checks out with all the reports I got from SEDI, NORAD and NASA."

Seth stepped forward, "We have reason to believe a team of government sponsored covert operatives recovered the space craft."

"Ok back up a little this is not space camp." Harlan slight pushed him back. "Let the experts do their work."

Skyler clung to the back, pulling him back even more. Seth wrapped his arms around her from behind, keeping her as close as possible.

"You know you two are very luck to not come face to face with the aliens that were in that craft." Harlan exclaimed. "Their like deadly preying mantises. They'll eat your flesh."

"Oh" Sarah started, catching on to what he was saying. "We are indeed lucky kids not to have had our flesh eaten.." She gave Seth a brief look to play along. "..By the aliens."

"You got that right, Ok let's go to work here." Harlan turned around in his chair, typing away at his computer. "I got an email from the source that sent me this SAT grab."

"Where would they take the space ship?" Alex asked "51? Nellis? Wright-Patterson? Vandenburg?"

"Well from the size and scope of the crash, I would say there is only one possibility." Harlan said before dramatically pausing.

"Witch mountain." Two voices followed Harlen in unison.

"What are we? A singing group here? Let me talk." He said to his two colleges in the back as they mutter an apology.

"Witch mountain." Harlan repeated before turning back to his computer. "Let's take a look here. California, about 50 miles from the border of Nevada and it's one of our top secret." Turing around to face the group. "You know if you're planning on visiting, don't. When I say this place is fortified up to the yin yang. I'm making an understatement." He handed a folded piece of paper to Alex. "The place is so top secret all I have right now is an aerial view."

"Then um.." Jack started, trying to chose his word carefully. "How would we go about getting a layout of the place?"

"To get that, would be next to impossible. Not only will you need the right equipment. you'll need to find a hacker." Harlan said

"I know someone." All eyes turned to the voice behind Seth. "They don't live very far from here. We can go right now."

"What? Where exactly are we going?" Jack asked

Peeking out, she pointed at the blueprint she saw from earlier.

"You're going to Mystery Manor. The whole area is one of the town's unknown." Harlan said, as he pulled up a picture of the mansion. "43 square acres of land and all surrounded by a 30 foot wall. My sources say anyone who goes in are never seen coming out. They're systems are harder to get into than fort knox. Lot of police officer are seen going to the residence and all of them are tight lipped about what's beyond those walls. Lots of people tried to get an aerial view but everyone got the same out come stating that they lost the connection. "

"I've heard about that place. Most of my passengers talk about all the supernatural sightings closest to the property and how they would pay extra for me to carry them that way." Jack looked at the blueprint suspiciously. "But after the place got so popular, the police made it illegal to go near the area without a written invitation from the inside." He turned to Skyler, curiously. "Are you sure your source is there?"

To which she responded with a nod. "Supernatural or not. It's the only lead we have. Let's go" And with that, the group of 5 turned to leave."

"Thank you Harlan for everything." Alex said

"Whatever trouble you're in. Trust no one." Harlan said seriously.
