Chapter 6: A Fantasy Dream Come True
~A Few Years Later~
Things had been going well these past few years. The other elves had quickly helped out in showing me what life was like here, and of course my relationship with Bernard had been going well. However, he had been acting odd lately. I haven't even seen him at all today. I had been asking around, but the best I got was that he wanted to see me later today. It was about time for me to finish up when I felt someone wrap their arms around me.
"Hey, Snowflake."
I look behind me to see Bernard. "Hey, where have you been? I haven't seen you all day."
"And I promise there's an explanation for that, but first, take a walk with me?"
I was practically finished anyway, so I agreed and we walked around the village. He took me to all of my favorite places, and gave me more attention than normal. When we started making our way back, we stopped in the middle of the village.
"Okay, I can't help but feel like something's up. What is it?" I say.
"Alright, I'll explain," He says, suddenly starting to act nervous, "I might have been planning something, and I didn't want to risk you finding out early, or it would spoil the surprise."
"Oh? And what might that be?" I ask playfully.
Without saying anything, he takes my hand in his, and gets down on one knee.
'Oh my goodness,' I think to myself, 'Is he doing what I think he's doing?'
"Alice Lennox, I knew there was something special about you when we first met. Every moment I get to spend with you is absolutely magical, and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world." He pauses for a moment to pull out the most beautiful ring I've ever seen. "Would you make me the happiest elf alive and marry me?"
"That's not even a question, Yes!" I say, and the next thing I knew, he picked me up and spun me around before pulling me into a kiss. Almost immediately after, there was a bunch of "AWWWWWW"s from any and every elf that was watching us.
Word spread quickly, and things became even busier with planning, until finally, the day came. The whole village was covered in beautiful decorations, and the dress some of the other girl elves made was stunning. Instead of something you would expect for a bridal dress, I had a short, white dress with half length sleeves, silver sequins all over the top, a silver choker, and a silver headband. It was simple, and had a beautiful wintery look to it. Things ran smoothly, and when we got to the "kiss the bride" moment, there was a swirl of magic around us. I thought it was normal at first, but then I noticed the looks I was getting from everyone. "I take it that's not normal." I whisper, "What's going on?"
No one answered, but one of the girl elves that helped me with my hair and makeup came over and handed me a mirror. When I looked in it, I didn't see anything out of the ordinary at first. Upon closer inspection, however, I noticed something very different. I don't recall wearing fake pointed ears, I thought. Wait... does that mean...
"Am I?" I asked, looking up from the mirror and handing it back.
"I think so." Bernard says. "This has never happened before because none of us really fell for a human until we met-"
"I love it!" I say excitedly, cutting him off. "It's perfect."
