Chapter 3

I closed my eyes trying to calm myself down. This was the fourth time that this had happened to me.

The first was when I had gotten a small, harmless paper cut at school when I was in fifth grade. I don't really know the details of what happened, but I heard the teacher saying that I tried to stab a couple students... with a pair of scissors. Great job, me. We moved after that.

The second time was in seventh grade, I was being bullied at the time and one of my bullies had apparently brought a pocket knife to school trying to be cool or something. They cornered me in the back of the school and the bully didn't mean to injure me, just threaten me a bit, but in the end they made some slight cuts on me. One of them ran off to get a teacher because I was "stabbing" (I guess I really like stabbing people) everyone with the pocket knife and laughing maniacally. Oh come on, I'm sure it wasn't that bad. I didn't kill anyone at least and I'm lucky that I'm not sent to an insane asylum... Anyways, I was forced to switch schools once again.

The third time was when I was at an old friend's house. She had a dog who didn't like to open up to strangers. It had bitten me on the hand, my friend rushed to get her mom and a first aid kit, but during the time she was gone, I had taken a letter opener that I had found on the table and dragged the poor dog into a separate room. A few minutes later, my friend found me making deep cuts on the dog.... we're not friends anymore obviously.

My parents made me go to the psychologist, but that didn't help since I didn't remember anything that happened. After that, my parents just stopped caring. It was like all of the fuel that had to care for me ran out. They don't seem to notice me anymore. I was the one who caused them to have the dark circles under their lifeless eyes and their long tired sighs whenever I did something. I was hurt in the beginning, since the loneliness that I was feeling was agonizing, but now I grew to ignore it, yet I still feel some pain at times. I do my best though. Nothing is gonna happen if you sit and cry about it after all.

I stood up and looked at the torn up bodies, then turned to walk away. I heard a beeping noise and a flash appeared in front of me.

Great job, Alice! You killed your first victims. You have now obtained a gun and six daggers. Victim's bounty cost was 100 coins. You have received 150 coins!

What is this? Bounty? I heard a voice around me. It chuckled. It sounded as if it was coming from every direction in the woods.

"Hello, Alice, it's been a while, remember me?" it said. I recognized it as Mirror's voice.

"What do you want?" I asked rather irritated than scared like I was before.

"I'm just giving you a heads up, cause you're my friend." she said in a disgusting manner.

"And?"

"Fufu~ You should be glad I like you." Mirror said,"As you can tell, you can get objects from every victim you kill. You can also earn money depending on their bounties. Since those guys were on a murder spree, they costed some coins. It's more fun this way, right~"

"What's your aim?" I asked. She laughed.

"My aim? Do you suspect me of some horrendous crime? What's wrong with giving you humans some fun?" she said. Something was off with this mirror. She hummed a little tune for a while.

"Anything else?" I asked annoyed.

"Hmm, let's see. You can go into town where you can buy many things, um, there are my bots that I created wandering around the world. You know the people that look real, but are actually robot-like humans." it said,"You know they're bots because they either have a heart, diamond, spade, or club on their foreheads. The ones with hearts are the queen's underlings. Diamonds are the really strong ones. Spades are the one who have average strength and finally clubs are really weak."

"Are you done?" I said watching as my scythe disappeared to wherever it goes. She giggled.

"I'm done. I hope you have fun~" she said with a cheerfulness, then her voice went dark,"Don't die yet." I shivered and there was silence. I began walking, not giving one glance at the dead bodies. I eventually heard chattering and I soon entered a small marketing town.

Each side was full of stalls selling foods, weapons, clothes, and many other things. A lot of other people were there, which gave me an uneasy feeling, since interacting with people isn't really my thing. I walked around slowly looking at all the cool objects and trinkets that was being sold. The shop keepers all had a club on their forehead, they looked like they were real people and they acted like real people too.

"Hey, little miss!" I heard a man's voice shout. I looked over and saw a man motioning for someone to come over. I looked around to see if he was talking to someone else and he kept on motioning for me to come over. I walked really slow over to his stand.

"Yes?" I said.

"Would you be interested to buy one of these lovely creatures I have here?" he asked showing me many different types of animals. I looked in awe. There were tiny fairies, imps, and many other creatures. I felt sad for them since they were all stuck in a cage. I wanted to set them all free, but I knew that would get me in trouble. I came across a small black kitten who looked like it could fit into your palm. It was sleeping inside a cage, snoring little cute snores. It stirred in its sleep then blinked its eyes open. It yawned and then stretched out. I pointed to it.

"How much would this kitten be?" I asked. The shopkeeper looked at it and I saw the happiness in his face grow dim.

"Are you sure you would like to purchase it?" he said.

"Yes, is something the matter?" I asked.

"No, not really. It would only cost 50 coins since it's only a runt." he said,"It's practically worthless." I frowned.

"Don't call me a runt, you stupid fatty." a small voice said. I looked down at the kitten and it had its back arched and it was hissing at the shop keeper,"I may be small, but I can still scratch your eyeballs out." The shop keeper scowled at the little kitten.

"Oh, don't worry, I'll take her." I said and smiled,"You seem to want to get rid of her anyways." A small screen popped up showing the amount of money I had, 150 coins, and the amount the kitten cost. There were two options below it. Purchase or cancel. I pressed purchase and there was a small cha-ching sound.

"Thank you for your purchase, please have a nice day." the shopkeeper said handing me the little cage. I nodded and walked away carrying the cage.

"So, um, I'm Alice." I said to the kitten. It looked back at me and I set the cage down and unlatched the cage door. It walked out slowly still observing me. Finally it spoke.

"My name is Eclipse." she said. She stomped one little paw on the ground,"But until I acknowledge you as my master, you will be calling me your highness." She raised her little head up. I tried not to laugh.

"Okay, um, your highness." I said. She nodded in approval,"How would I be acknowledged as your master?" She laughed.

"Hmm, I don't know, shall I make it a hard task or an easy task?" she said enjoying herself.

"Easy?" I said.

"Hard it is, then." she said. She stomped her paw down and looked up at me,"Well?"

"Well?" I repeated. She sighed.

"Put your hand down." she said. I placed my hand next to her, palm up, and she walked onto it. She climbed up onto my shoulder and sat there, getting all comfortable.

"Are you sure you're not going to fall.... your highness?" I said humoring her.

"I'm fine." she said, she pointed her paw forward,"Onward march." I began walking forward. It was cute how even though she was super tiny, she had a big personality. Probably due to how she was being treated in that shop.

"So where are we heading to?" I asked. She patted my shoulder and I stopped walking.

"To prove your worth of being my master, you must prove you are brave and strong." she said. She then pointed to a large abandoned building. It was old and dilapidated. Vines were growing out of cracks and broken windows. It gave off an eerie feeling.

"Wait, we're going in there?" I said. She nodded.

"Yep, I heard that it was haunted by many spirits." she said. I paused.

"Are you serious?" I said. She looked at me.

"Do I look like I'm joking?" she said. I shook my head no,"Then get a move on!" I sighed and walked into the building, unaware of what was lying ahead.
