Chapter Four: The Magic He Holds

I'm sooooooo sorry I haven't written in a while! Now that it's summer I've been working! I worked three all day shifts this week, in the blazing 100-degree weather. So I was just tired. I'll try to get two chapters done tonight! Again I'm really sorry!

Also, this chapter is a lot of filler, so I also apologize for that!

Morning rolled around, and China and Estonia were the first to wake up. They were the only nations who were awoken by the loud alarms, so they stumbled out of bed to shut them off. They both showered and got dressed in their clothing. The clothing given to them by Star Angel (or we the audience know is Native America) was more comfortable and casual. China slipped on a red pinyin with brown pants, while Estonia slipped on a white and blue striped polo and black slacks. They both left their rooms, bumping into each other in the hallway. China stumbled onto his butt while Estonia barely moved, but his glasses did fall from his face. Estonia began to bend down to pick them up when he accidentally headbutted China.

"Aiya! You must be more careful Estonia aru! If you keep bumping into things you are going to hurt yourself," China got up, helping Estonia to his feet and handing him his glasses. Estonia sighed in relief and put the frames back onto the bridge of his nose.

"Oh, thank you, China. These glasses are precious to me, they were a gift from Lithuania and Latvia. All the time I spend online has badly damaged my eyes, so they bought me these frames and told me to get an eye exam," Estonia laughed nervously, not often being in the presence of the elder nation.

"It is alright aru, let us go see if the others are awake," China walked to room 201, finding England and France nude in their bed. Estonia checked 202, finding the same with Canada and Gilbert. They both figured out why it was that most of the nations were still asleep. Japan then walked from his room, as did Latvia and Lithuania. Japan had on a dark crimson long sleeve with white slacks, not often playing on fashion. Latvia had on a red and white striped polo with blue jeans, and Lithuania had on a yellow and green striped polo with navy jeans.

The five nations went to the mess hall and began to eat breakfast, all of them drinking tea to settle themselves before the busy day. The next to walk in was Germany, who was dragging a still tired Italy behind him. Both of them matching by wearing plain white tees and washed out jeans. Belarus, Ukraine, and Hungary followed up: Belarus wearing a pair of jeans and a violet tank top with her hair in a ponytail and white bow, Ukraine wearing a pastel blue tee with black jeans, and Hungary wearing a pair of black leggings and a long forest green tank top with her hair in a messy bun. Russia, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Canada all followed next: Russia wearing his scarf along with a white sweatshirt and navy jeans, Denmark in red slacks and white tank top, Norway wearing a purple dress shirt and dark jeans, Sweden wearing a white tee and faded jeans, and Canada wearing a Canadian flag hoodie and dark jeans. England, France, Iceland, Finland, Romano, Prussia, and Spain were the last to come in; England in a tank with his flag and jeans, France wearing a white dress shirt tucked into his scarlet slacks, Iceland in an ivory dress shirt and violet dress pants, Finland sporting a white tank top with a yellow and blue stars and jeans, Prussia in black jeans and a tank with his old flag on it, and Romano and Spain matching each other with red dress shirts and black jeans. (that took way too long, damn)

They all began to eat the food that was prepared, most of them silent. Some of the nations had never seen the others in casual clothing. For one, Hungary, Ukraine, and Belarus were normally very reserved but they all looked so chill and relaxed. Same for Japan and Germany, feeling a tiny bit more confident.

(I know all the outfits were really unnecessary, but I just wanted to experiment with the nations in different clothing. Like sometimes we see a nation in only in one or two outfits *cough* Ukraine *cough, cough* Latvia *cough uncontrollably* Norway and Iceland *HACKS UP A LUNG* Belarus. So if anyone wants to give feedback on anything, like how I could write it better or even just opinions on the outfits, it would be much appreciated)

"I zink ve should decide now vho should read, all in favor raise jour hands," Prussia asked, everyone raised their hands, "vho vants to read?" the crowd was silent before it was broken by a shaky voice.

"I guess I can, I haven't seen za book yet," Latvia said shyly, Lithuania and Hungary patting his back softly.

"I wirr read next, after Latvia-san," Japan replied afterward, with a straight face and empty sigh. The crowd nodded, all of them finishing up and setting their dirty dishes in the sink. Ukraine and Germany decided to do the dishes, England and China went to make the beds, Romano and Italy began to sweep the dining hall, all while Spain and Belarus decided to clean the table and chairs. Japan, Latvia, Norway, Sweden, and Russia all went to the conference room to set up for the next chapter. After everything was clean, all the nations were seated. Estonia handed the book to Latvia, who opened it up and got to the page they left off of.

"Four. The Magic He Holds. America has always played off England and Norway's magic as simple superstition. He always tells them that 'magic doesn't exist' or 'I don't believe in this crap'. But America actually is lying, and nobody can tell. The only people who know of Alfred's magical abilities are Canada, all of America and Canada's children, and Russia. Canada also has these abilities, but this goes much deeper than anyone would think.

Alfred and Canada's magic do not come from England or Norway, they come from Native America. Their magic stems from their native roots, thus are tied to nature and their land. Their favorite type of magic is elemental bending. Alfred is especially skilled in the art of Earth, which explains his godly super strength. He has literally crushed mountains, leveled hills, and has stopped earthquakes. Mount Rushmore wasn't completely done by manual labor. Canada, however, is the best at water, so he can easily heal others and can filter even water from the Dead Sea. He is also skilled enough to stop avalanches and is able to redirect or disperse a tsunami if needed"

The nations looked at the shy Canadian, who was blushing. England smiled a very wide smile, nodding, and Canada knew exactly what they wanted. Prussia put a glass of water in front of him and waited, staring intently at his lover. Canada sighed and waved his hands, taking water from the glass on the table. He spun his pointer and middle finger, creating a mini water spout right before their eyes. He then separated his fingers and waved his hand, making the water turn to ice very quickly. He then flicked his fingers towards the window pane, the two icicles flying from his fingertips and pinning themselves to the wooden framework.

"America can do more, he once directed an entire flow of lava away from a town by shifting the fault lines under water. He is very connected to nature, so it's easier for him" Canada explained, the others still looking in awe, "Latvia, why don't you continue eh?" the small nation nodded.

"They can summon mythical or paranormal beasts like wendigos and skinwalkers, talk to animals, help plants grow, and control and spell other living creatures. Canada is skilled in only a few of these fields of magic because of his environment, which is mostly water, wind, and snow. This limits not only the things he can summon but the elements he can control. America however, is skilled in all types of bending and summoning!

Alfred has done a lot when it comes to elemental bending. He once tamed a forest fire that would have engulfed most of the west coast by sucking it up and redirecting it to the ocean. He has created tornadoes that could swallow the entirety of Liechtenstein, mudslides that could destroy South Korea, and fires so powerful it could melt all the snow in Canada. Alfred, however, REFUSES to use his elemental powers for those purposes, instead, he uses them for good. He saved Prussia from a rockslide when climbing in the Swiss Alps by holding the mountain in place, has made it rain in Italy after a week-long heatwave that was causing their crops to die, and has been redirecting floods away from England and his brothers for years so they still have their countries"

Stunned silence, Latvia quickly regaining his composer.

" Alfred also does have a pet wendigo named 'Igor' who has saved him on multiple occasions. One such occasion was when England was away, and America was alone in his home. He was speaking to his pet rabbit in the large field, thinking he was alone. But he wasn't, having been witnessed by three townspeople. Seeing as Alfred was speaking to an animal, the paranoia of witchcraft had convinced the townspeople Alfred was evil. They all assumed Alfred, who at the time was physically five in age, was a witch and proceeded to trial him."

"Oh God I feel sick! Alfred was being tried during the worst time! And I wasn't there to save him!" -England

"I never knew this story eh?! Why didn't he tell me?!" -Canada

"Fredka was burnt at the stake?! How did I never know?!" -Russia

"Amerique! My poor little sweet'art! Who would ever burn someone so young?!"- France

"He was found guilty, and the town gathered in the square to watch him burn. Sensing young America's fear, Igor ran into the town and slaughtered the men who were lighting the hay on fire. Snatching the crying Alfred into his arms, he roared loudly at the villagers who scattered. He held America close to his chest and ran off into the woods, the villagers not following as Alfred was seen as a witch and did not want to be cursed. Igor didn't leave America's side until England's next visit, which was seven months later"

Latvia closed the book, shaking a tiny bit at the last part. No one even wanted to break the silence, that is until England's tears broke through his tough facade.

"Damn it! I should have been there! What if Alfred didn't befriend that creature?! My poor little man would have been burnt at the stake!" England shouted, tears pouring from his eyes. Finland growled and stood up, an angry aura filled the space around him. It was so rare for the Fin to be so angry, but this.

This hurt him in so many ways.

"How dare you say that?! Alfred was never yours! Alfred, my little baby, was ours!" Finland shouted, gesturing to the Nordics, "We would have never left him alone! Seven months?! Are you kidding me, Arthur?! He was still so young!" Finland was in tears, Sweden quickly engulfing him in a warm embrace. France sighed and stood up.

"Well, we didn't mean for zat to 'appen! Angleterre and I were always out, but zat doesn't mean we didn't love 'im! Plus, we laid proper claim to zem first!" France defended his lover, causing Denmark to lose his normally calm presence. He slammed his hand on the table and growled.

"What do you mean by that?! America rightfully belonged to us, it was only because of your 'power' that you were able to claim him! I would have never let that happen to him! Poor America probably never told anyone because he was too scared to recollect the memory!" Denmark shouted, his face red. Norway stood up, growling loudest of all the Nordics.

"You may be my friend England, but this is unacceptable! You and France were always out conquering the world! That means your thirst for power was greater than the love you had for Alfred! Since there are five of us, at least one of us would have stayed behind! Or take him with us! So don't you even try!" Norway let a tear slip from his right eye. The normally stoic nation quickly wiped it away. The others witnessed the problem escalate at a rapid rate, and Prussia held Canada close to his chest seeing his birdie getting upset. Hungary was rubbing Latvia's back, and Italy was quivering behind Germany. The seven nations were fighting loudly until someone snapped.

"Enough!!!" came a loud accent. The table of nations turned their heads to face Russia, who was crying and cradling the chain with his wedding ring on it, "we all know Fredka wouldn't want us all to fight like this, da?! He would want us to try to find the good in something so awful! Like how his open and caring heart allowed him to befriend a creature not even Satan would love! Or how he's still alive and lives every day to his fullest! Even how he carried on and became so strong, forgiving, and compassionate! So stop fighting and let's just keep reading?!" Russia was trembling, something not ever seen. Belarus and Lithuania came to his aid, soothing him by rubbing his back. Japan looked at the book and flipped through the pages until it came to the next chapter. Japan felt sick at just the title, to the point he nearly fainted. China caught his weight and looked at the deathly pale Jap.

"Japan! What is it, aru?!" China asked frantically. Kiku pointed to the book, not being able to speak. China looked and screeched, this next chapter was long and the title didn't help. The loud inhuman scream from China made everyone freeze.

"I can't read it, I feer sick," Japan said softly. They all looked at the book as if it was going to bite them. Russia looked a little broken, he continued to shake wildly. Ukraine finally moved, picking up the book and gulped.

"I will read it then," she took a deep breath.
