I woke up the next day. All I remembered was that I had the feeling that I was going to die.

"How are you feeling, kiddo?" I heard Leya's voice.

"I don't know! It's like a train ran over me!"

-Alexis! Are you ok? asked my mother rushing towards me.

-I'm fine! I answered with a hoarse voice.

- How are you feeling Alexis? dad asked too.

-Better! But....fragments of what happened started to flash through my mind.

-Mom, what did you mean the One has come?

I saw her terrified look and she turned her head away from me.

-Mom? What happened? Why don't you want to tell me what it is about?

-Alexis, forgive me!

- Mom! I don't understand why do I have to forgive you!

- Anne! I think you have to tell her! There is no point in avoiding the subject!

-Tim, do you know how long it took me to get used to one power? Do you know how much effort and how much energy drain the use of a single power?

-I do not know! But all I know is, that we will help her. And, that together we will manage to get through this! my father said, taking mother in his arms and lightly kissing her hair.

I raised my eyebrow slightly and asked:

- Are you two together again?

- Well.... my mother answered, blushing.

-I'm courting her! father said laughing. As if we just met each other,  two days ago. And I love every moment of it!

-Tim! my mother said nudging him lightly.

-What? She is a smart kid!

-And in which room are you staying?

- I haven't received a room yet, but I'm in no hurry. My priority is your health.

-Then, for my mental health, I want you to occupy one of the guest rooms! I said grinning.

-Alexis, I think it's...

-Aww...my head! It hurts!

-What is it? What hurts? they both shouted in fright.

-My head...

- Do you think that...Yes...I should...

I looked at them and I saw how panic was taking over them.

"Alexis, you are a better actress than me! You impress me!" Leya said.

"As I told you, I had a super good teacher!"

-Mom, let dad stay in the guest room! I said smiling.

- Ok! said the mother, not paying attention to what she was saying.

-Perfect! I said jumping out of bed.

-What the .....?

-Dad, let's bring your clothes inside.

-But...

-You said ok, mom!You just don't back down now, do you?

My mother looked at me and then at my father, back and forth, and smiled.

-You tricked me, young lady! she said laughing

-What can I say? The end justifies the means, right? 

The fact that all my friends backed down on me, and those who wanted to be my friends were afraid of being abused by Max, Lauren, and Rayna, the formidable trio, made me look for friends in other places.

Let's say that, the library in the pack house became my favorite place and, to my surprise, sometimes Max accompanied me to the library. This was my secret, and his; he couldn't show his friends that he likes to read...he had to maintain a certain status, that of a bad boy.

In the last two years, I have become more aware of what is expected of me; the pack became my main concern, after Alexis' well-being. Despite Demon's constant nagging, I didn't tell Alexis that I was her mate. I wanted her to find this out on her own and to decide. I didn't want to mark her without her consent.

"We're going to lose her because of you, human! And if that happens, you're not going to like the outcome!" grumbled Demon.

"Demon I want to show her that I am worthy of her and that I am different from what everyone else believes!"

For this reason, I spent as much time as possible with Alexis; we either spent time with her in the study room, the room we set up precisely so that we wouldn't be disturbed when we were studying, or in the library, where Alexis retreated especially after all her friends had left her.

"And you don't help either. You always stay with the two bitches: Lauren and Rayna, the bitch and the mini-bitch!"

"Demon, you know very well why I do this!"

"Whatever, human!"

"Demon, did you notice Alexis wasn't feeling well today?"

"Just today? It's been like this for a few days and you didn't notice?"

"What do you mean? She's not feeling well for a few days?"

"If you hadn't stuck your head between that bitch's legs...sorry, your sweet Lauren, you would have noticed!" Demon said with a growl.

"Demon, I also have certain . . . ."

"Yes, I know! Needs! You've told me before and I've always told you: grow up! Our mate won't like this! You should keep yourself for her, not bother with all the bitches in the pack! "

"I don't want to hear about that anymore. Tell me why do you think Alexis has been feeling sick for a few days now?"

"I don't think, I know that she's not feeling well!"

"Then let's go see her!"

I headed for the door, but when I opened it, I came across an apocalyptic image. It seemed that all the elements of nature united to destroy us. The sky was dark and it was raining so hard that you couldn't tell where the sky ended and where the earth began; the wind was blowing with such force that the branches of the trees were touching the ground, and the air was so hot that you could not breathe.

"What the hell? Demon, what's going on?" I asked dumbstruck, closing the door with difficulty.

 "I don't know, Max! But, something is happening! Something that will change all of our lives!"

I went back to my room and sat at the window looking at the chaos outside. At one point, I saw a rainbow rise over all the chaos and everything stopped in a flash.

"How is it possible? How can a rainbow appear out of nowhere? And how can all the turmoil stop as if it never happened?"

I wanted to go to see Alexis, to see if she was okay and above all to make sure that their house was not damaged. I knew that Tim was protecting them, but what happened was nothing but ordinary anyway!

"We'll go tomorrow night, human! And we'll get something for Alexis, too! You know she thinks her secret admirer is Ryan, right?" 

"Don't remind me!" I grumbled. "Just, don't remind me!"

The fact that Alexis thought Ryan was her secret admirer, and to be honest, even Tim thought it was Ryan, made my blood boil.

"Tell her the truth!"

"Not yet, Demon!"

 Having my father back in our lives and, him living under the same roof as us, gave me a feeling of fulfillment. It was like we were a family again. Suddenly, an image appeared in my mind: my mother, in a white dress, walking towards a man who was smiling at her. I tried to see the man's face, but I couldn't. Out of nowhere, a red wolf appeared and rushed towards her; the way he attacked told me he wanted to kill her.

- Mom, no! I screamed.

Both my parents entered in the room running:

-What happened, Alexis? asked the mother.

-A red wolf tried to kill you.

-Dear, but there is no red wolf here! said father, stroking me.

-But....it was so real! I said between sobs. Mom, you were dressed in a white dress and you were heading towards a man but, out of nowhere, a red wolf appeared and attacked you! It was so real!

-Alexis, what did you feel when you saw these images? mom asked in a strained voice.

-Meaning?

- It was like when you dream or...

- It was real, mom! As if it was happening now. And I wasn't sleeping! 

-Dear! continued father. It's not...

- She has the gift of clairvoyance! whispered my mother.

- I have, what?

-The gift of clairvoyance! whispered mom. 

-And what does that mean, mom?

-You can see in the future! But, don't forget: the future is the sum of our current deeds, and it is yet to come. The future can be changed...we have the power to change it...for better or for worse...it all depends on us!

-Anne, do you think that...

- I'm going to ask Alpha Cedric and the school principal to let you stay home this week! I won't tell them why! I'll just tell them that you don't feel well!

-But....

-Alexis, Tim! No one has to know about her power, nor about the ones that will follow. No one! Promise me!

-I mean, I will have more than one power? Which?

- I don't know! But, if your grandmother, was right, you will have more than one power. And, during this week, you will discover them.

The next day, my mother went to work as usual, after deciding with my father to take turns watching over me. In the following days, the hidden powers began to surface one by one; I realized that I could move objects and things with just the power of my mind - honestly speaking it was my favorite power - to heal wounds or other pains, and the simple spells that my mother showed me, became more and more accurate and strong. 

According to my mother, I had almost all the powers. Except one, which was the rarest of all:  the power to influence people's minds. Until one day.

-Alexis, you have to repeat this movement once more! dad said angrily. You have to repeat it, until you get it perfect! 

- But, father! I'm tired! We've been training for hours already!

- No but, Alexis! Enemies don't care if you are tired or not! One more time! he shouted.

I looked at him for a long time and wished I could change his mind. Suddenly he said to me:

-Alexis, if you want to rest, you can go to your room!

At first, I thought he was joking, but after a few moments, I took my leave as fast as I could, lest he change his mind.

That same evening, after my mother came home, I heard them whispering.

-Alexis, come into the living, please!

- Yes, mother! I answered and went to the living room.

-Alexis, today, during training, did you want something really bad? she asked looking straight into my eyes.

I started to move from one leg to another; I knew I was in trouble.

- Yes....maybe...I grumbled.

-What exactly did you want?

- For dad to stop training me! I said meekly.

-And what happened? mother asked.

- Dad looked at me and said I can leave?!

- But I didn't want to tell you that! father burst out. I wanted to tell you, to keep training until you can't anymore, but I couldn't tell you this. Instead, I told you that you can leave! It was as if someone else controlled my will! he said in frustration.

- This means that Alexis has the last power: to influence the minds of others. 

They both looked at me for a long time, and my mother said:

- I have to talk to my mother! Alexis' powers are far beyond my knowledge! She has to help you, Alexis! You must go to our convent to learn!
