Making decisions

-Alpha, Anne and Alexis are here!

-Let them in, my dear! we heard the alpha.

We entered and I instinctively bowed my head. I looked at my mother but her head was held high...

"Dear, you should never bow your head in front of any alpha!" I heard my mother's voice in my head.

" How can I hear you? I don't have my wolf yet, so..."

"You are my daughter, so you have witch blood in you. We, witches, can communicate through mind links from the moment we turn six!"

"And why, until now, couldn't I do that?"

"I didn't want to do this, but there's no point in not teaching you to be who you need to be!"

I noticed them as they talked through their mind link. "How is that possible? Alexis is too small. What are you hiding up your sleeve Anne?"

-Anne! Alexis! Why have you two come today?

-Alpha, according to yesterday's verdict, we came to find out our new roles and where we will be sent to earn our living expenses!

-Anne! There is no need to be so formal! You know very well that...

-Alpha I know who I am, and the respect others should show me! But Alpha, please don't disobey my order. No one needs to know who I am, and especially who Alexis is.

- Anne! Nick told me what the house I sent you to was like. Believe me, I didn't know how it looks now! he said remorsefully.

-Alpha, that house can be repaired! We both know I could do this very quickly, but I prefer the old ways, at least for the outside. I don't want to draw attention to us.

-I'm sorry. I should not have trusted Garry. He was the one who suggested the location! For this reason, please move into the pack house; at least during the repairs.

-No alpha! We will manage! Don't worry about us! All I want is to be left alone and to go about our lives.

-But if someone would...

-Alpha Cedric, for the other members of the pack we are two people who have lost our rank and place. From their point of view, I am far below omega, as if we were humans. And I prefer it to stay that way. For Alexis' sake!

-Are you sure about it, Anne?

-Yes, alpha I am! So, please tell us what our duties will be from now on!

-Anne, please! Both Luna and I are grateful to you for what you did for us and the pack! But you know very well that you have enough "admirers" who don't want your best!

-Therefore, Alpha, please tell us what our new duties will be!

-Anne, I talked to my Luna and I decided that you will be the one who will help her with her duties! I can't and I don't want to give you omega duties! And if still, the vast majority of the pack considers you a little more than a simple human, I have given you duties accordingly.

- But, Alpha...

-As for you, for you Alexis, I decided to help your mother when she needs help. In the rest of the time, you will help Max to improve his grades!

-Alpha, please! I will do anything but this! I said trying not to scream or cry.

"Mom, does Alpha want to punish me?"

"Why are you saying that baby!?"

"Me and that brat are anything but good friends!"

-Really? You're not...

- Mom, it's a secret....you don't have to say this out loud! I said blushing

-What? Aren't you friends? Alpha Cedric asked. I know that you always sit together on the school bus, and you have the same classes. So I assumed that...

-Alpha is...that age.....said the mother laughing. I'm sure they will understand!

-Alpha? I asked whispering.

-Yes, Alexis!

-So that means that I will be able to go to school?

I felt my mother stiffening next to me, waiting for the answer.

Alpha looked at me and my mother for a long time, knowing that omega children generally did not go to school after the age of ten. But, we were thought to be under omegas, being considered almost humans, even if we were on the same level, if not upper, than Alpha.

-You will be able to go Alexis, but only until you finish high school! After that, your mother will decide if you stay in college here or somewhere else!

-Thank you, Alpha! said my mother.

-Anne, if we ever need help, could we ...

-Alpha, I know what you mean, but you seem to have forgotten what I said twelve years ago when I joined the pack and promised you to put my pack skills, but seems that you have forgotten my warning: "If your pack ever threatens someone I love with death, forget my help! Forget what I can do and what am I!" And your pack, alpha,  did exactly this!

-Alpha, I will start next week, then! Alexis will return to school starting next week if it's not a problem! She has a lot to digest and to get used to!

-Anne! You will start whenever you can! First, fix your house and then you can come!

-Let's go Alexis! said my mother.

We headed to the door when Alpha Cedric stopped us:

-Anne, Alexis! This is your salary card. I transferred the money for the first week in advance, so that you can make the necessary purchases!

-Alpha, no need! You know that I have my own money! Even if I was a housewife, I didn't stop working!

-I'm sure of it! But this is what we do for all those who come and join our pack and don't have any income!

-Then, thank you alpha!

We left the pack house and walked around the city for a few hours, taking what we needed to turn that house into a home. While we were struggling with the shopping bags, we heard Nick.

-Anne! Alexis! You two, are really hard to find.

- We've been looking for you for about two hours since you left the pack house.

- We went shopping! I said proudly showing the purchases, trying to ignore the looks of some members of the pack.

-She is weird! Look what color her hair is! White! I heard someone say.

I tried to see who that person is.

"Don't mind them kiddo! They don't know you and they don't deserve you!" Leya said.

-I'm now calling the rest of the guys, and we're going to start repairing that house, Nick said.

-Thank you, Nick!

While talking to Nick, I saw Ted and two other guys coming towards us.

- Anne! Kiddo! Ted said. They are Aragon and Sam.

- Hello Anne!

- And you should be... Alexis! Isn't it? a tall guy asked me. To be honest all werewolf guys are tall!

- You are famous! I could ask you for an autograph for later! Sam said.

"I like him! He's a ...."

"Leya! Please! I'm only ten!" I said

"And I'm two hundred!" purred Leya.

-We promise, that we will help you and we will keep our promise! Nick said smiling. Did you buy everything you needed?

-We only have two hands each! my mom said. But, tomorrow is another day! We're on foot, so we can't buy too much.

-Not anymore! Today you have a car at your disposal, so... let's go shopping, said Nick.

After another two hours of walking around the shops and buying everything we needed, from spoons to carpets, from nails to windows, from a mixer to kitchen oven, in short, everything that is needed in a house, during which we made countless trips to the truck, and placing orders so that some of the things we bought were to be brought home, we headed towards the truck.

-Alexis! Anne! Please, let me help you! we heard my father saying.

An awkward silence fell over our group.

-Thank you, Mr. Nomi! But there is no need! We get all the help we need from those who haven't forgotten! answered my mother while looking at my father as if he were a stranger.

-Anne!... Please, I just want to.....

-Can we leave now, guys? Mom asked Ted. I think we need to get home soon and start the repairs. There is so much to do!  And the orders we placed might come sooner than expected!

-Mom, we didn't buy chickens! I screamed. I want chickens! And a cat! I said laughing, remembering the conversation we had.

-Then, let's go to the market! Maybe we buy some flowers and vegetables to plant, as well! I've heard you have a nice yard! Aragon said.

We got into the truck: I, my mother, Ted, and Nick inside, and two of the young men got on the platform crammed between the things bought.

-Let's go girls and lads! Let's go get our chickens! Aragon said laughing.

-Don't forget the cat! I shouted.

In the rearview mirror, I saw my father collapsing in the middle of the road. It seems that my mother's rejection affected him more than anything else.

-Mother! I whispered and showed him the image of my father in the mirror.

-He brought this upon him all by himself! Him alone!

"I'm not giving up on you two!"

"No, human! We won't give up on them! Because of your stupidity, Selene hates me!"

"I'm sorry Duncan! I am! We will have them back even if that means me staying on their porch for the rest of my life!"

"You do that, human! She's my mate, and seeing all those males around her, some of them without mates, throws me over the edge! .... By the way human, she doesn't have a porch! So where will you sleep?"

"Well, then! Let's go build that porch!" I said while shifting and start running toward their new home...

"Our new home!" my wolf grumbled. " You better call your friends, if some still remain your friends to help!"

"I will...." I said while linking my best friends telling them my plan to get my family back, hoping they would come to help me.
