Ch. 1: Nightmares or Visions?

One night Alex was heading back to his childhood hometown of Shepherd's Glen, where he lived with his young brother, Josh.  "You live in this dump?" The truck driver asked. "Yeah. It was my childhood home and I made a promise to someone." Alex said.  "Well I think it needs a face lift, no offense." "None taken. I don't really blame you anyway. It really does need it, but I made a promise to someone long ago that I would return." He said. "Well good luck with your quest and that promise." The truck driver said. "Wait. A little something for your trouble." Alex said as he gave the driver and gave him some money. "Thanks and good luck with your mission." "Thanks." He said as the truck driver went on his way. "Don't worry Josh. I'm coming to save you, no matter what." Alex said as he enter through the gates of his childhood hometown.

As Alex began to walk to his childhood home, a vision of him and Josh played.  "Josh. Don't let me fall, please."  "I-I can't pull you up, Alex. I-I'm too scared." "I'm right here Josh." Alex said as he lost his grip and fell. (End of vision)  "Hey you. What the hell do you think you're doing here?" A female voice said. "Wait a minute. I know you, you're Y/n L/n." "How in the hell do you know my name, punk?" "It's me Alex. Alex Shepherd." "Alex? OMG! I though you were dead. Where have you been all this time?" "I've been very busy with trying to find my little brother, Josh. He and my father have been missing for a while now." "Oh I'm sorry to heard about your father and Josh." "My father can stay missing for all I care, for he never loved me nor did my mother. They just pretended to love me. Josh was the favorite and the most loved by our parents." He said.  "Well you always got me. Plus I know how you feel, for my parents were sorta the same way." You said as you laid your hand on top of Alex's hand.  "Y/n." Alex said as both of you got ready to kiss, but you turned away from him. "I'm sorry Alex, but I got to go back home before my mother knows I'm gone." You said. "I guess I'll catch up with you later, y/n." "You know it. Oh and Alex." "Yeah?" "I'm happy you're back. After you left, Shepherd's Glen wasn't the same. It turned very creepy, like as if a witch casted a spell on the town.  But now that you're here, I feel safe, for you were always there for me when the bullies picked on me." You said as you gave him a kiss on his cheek.  "Bye Alex." "Bye Y/n."  Both of you said as both of you went your separated ways.

Alex walked until he reached his old house. "You can do this Alex. Let the past go." He said as he walked up the stairs and knocked on the door before entering his childhood home.  "Hello? Anyone home?" "Who's there? I got a baseball bat and I'm not afraid to use it!" "Mom, it's me. Alex." "Alex? W-what are you doing here?" "Well I'm not on vacation." He said to lighten the mood. "I've missed you so much Alex. We all did." "No you didn't. You and dad loved Josh more than me!  No matter what I did to please both of you, you just left me in the dark as I watched Josh grow up happy until that night." Alex said.  "It wasn't your fault, if that's what you think.  You did everything you could, Alex." "Quit playing games with my mind, mother!  You and father blamed me for everything, including the night Josh went missing!" "Don't you DARE raise your voice to me, Alex! Your father and I did love you, very much." "You're lying! You and dad had picked out your favorite son and it was Josh! Don't tell me that I'm wrong, when I know I'm right."  He said as both of them heard a strange noise coming from the basement.  "What was that noise, mom?" "I-I don't know but it came from the basement." "Stay up here where it's safe and I'll go see check it out."  He said as he cocked the shotgun and went to the basement to investigate the strange sound.
