Chapter Two

I DO NOT OWN HARRY POTTER OR ANY OF THE CHARACTERS IN THAT SERIES BECAUSE THEY ALL BELONG TO JOANNE KATHLEEN (J.K.) ROWLING!

-Chapter Two-

Albus and Scorpius walked down the hallway from the Gryffindor common room. They were trying to catch up to Alice, who was already in the Great Hall, studying with Calvin, her Ravenclaw boyfriend.

“I just don’t understand what she sees in him! I mean he more nice on the Quidditch field and he put you in the hospital more than three times!” Albus told his friend as they finished going down the stairs.

“I don’t either, but you know Alice. He’s sweet on her. She’s probably the only person that he isn’t rude to.” Scorpius said, “It’s always been like that. He does the same thing with your sister and that’s not only because she has a crowd of Slytherins behind her.”

“I know. It’s only because they are over the top pretty.” Albus said, only he, James, his father, his uncles, his cousins, and Teddy were the boys aloud to say that about Lily and not get a punch in the face for it.

“Her and Lily have always been like that Al. Calvin is just taking advantage of that.” Scorpius told him as they walked down the hallway.

Albus nodded. It was true. All three of them were in their seventh year and Alice never lost any of her good looks. They just kept getting better until now. Long blonde hair that had perfected natural wave in it with perfect skin that made her cheeks glow and bright dark eyes that looked like the depths of the sea. She had a beautiful smile that would light up the room. Also, Alice had a heart of gold. She rarely stepped out of line at school and she never was rude to anyone except for the Slytherins even Albus’s little sister Lily.

Scorpius placed a hand on his friend’s shoulder and let it dropped as they entered the Grand Hall. Albus looked around and saw Alice sitting at the end of the table, talking to Calvin. She was smiling, though his face was serious as he seemed to explaining something to her. Also, Albus saw Lily sitting at the Slytherin table, girls surrounding her as she talked to them. Lily had always been a popular girl at the school and Albus blamed it all on her looks. Lily had beautifully straight hair that reached just past her shoulders. It was like a dangerous colour of blood red. Her face was even paler than Alice’s, but it seemed to make her look more beautiful. Lily had the perfect body shape and skin without any imperfections. Even though Lily hadn’t been home in two years, Albus and the others always felt protective of her, no matter how mad they were about her.

Deciding not to let his anger get to high, he looked at the Ravenclaw table and saw his cousin at the very end. She was reading a book all by herself without anyone around her. Albus always felt sorry for Rose. Even through the years Rose was still shy. She had a couple of friends, but Rose didn’t stay with them all of the time. Rose was too shy for her own good. She was more his friend then there’s. Albus and the others didn’t mind though.

“Why don’t you sit with Alice? I’m going to see Rose.” Albus told Scorpius.

Scorpius dropped his mouth and said, “you want me to be alone with both of them together.”

Albus smiled. He knew what Scorpius was talking about. Whenever him and Calvin were alone, he would just give them disgusted looks. He did the same thing when Alice was there and did it when she wasn’t looking and it annoyed them when she was so oblivious to it all.

“Fine. Go talk to Hugo.” Albus suggested and both of them looked down the table to see Rose’s little brother by a year talking with his friends.

Scorpius nodded and set off to the brown haired boy while Albus turned and walked to the Ravenclaw table. For a weekend, the Great Hall was almost deserted. Albus sat across from Rose. She looked up at him and smiled, “Hi Al.”

“Hey. How are you? You’re sitting here alone.” Albus said.

“Just doing some reading like I do every morning.” Rose answered simply.

Albus looked at Rose. She looked exactly like another Hermione, but her hair was a copper red instead of brown. She also had freckles like her father. She was beautiful herself, but everyone was always compared to Alice and Lily.

“Do you want to go to Hogsmeade today?” Albus asked her.

“No thanks. I think that I’ll just stay here. Thanks though Al.” Rose answered.

“If you’re sure.” Albus told her.

Rose looked at him and sighed, “I probably should get something for dad since it’s going to be his birthday soon.”

“Okay. Scorpius and I will come with you.” Albus said.

“What about Alice?” Rose asked him.

“I don’t know if she’ll come. Calvin is with her and they look to be studying.” Albus answered.

“Oh, Calvin said that him and Alice have some test when the weekend is over.” Rose answered and she shook her head and groaned after looking over at him, “how he is not a Slytherin is beyond me. He’s not even smart!”

Albus chuckled and Rose smiled. Albus nodded and then said, “well, how about we meet there at noon?”

“Sure.” Rose agreed.

“I’ll see you then.” Albus nodded and he stood up and walked back to the Gryffindor table.

He noticed that Alice was now alone and she was still reading her book. He looked around and saw that Scorpius was still talking to Hugo and his friends. Alice didn’t look up at Albus as he sat down beside her. That was when he noticed that her eyes were red.

“Alice?” Albus asked.

Alice still didn’t look up and Albus saw a single tear drop from her eyes.

“Alice what’s wrong?” Albus asked him.

This time she looked up and quickly wiped her eyes with her sleeve.

“Nothing. Really Al. It’s kind of stupid really. I just can’t get all of the concepts right for Care Of Magical Creatures. We have a quiz when the weekend is over.” Alice answered, “Calvin was just trying to help me.”

“If you are having trouble then why don’t you talk to Hagrid directly? You know that he will explain everything that you ask.” Albus told her.

Alice stared at Albus, “Yeah you’re probably right. Calvin seems to understand it clearly though.”

“Where is Calvin anyway?” Albus asked.

“He had to leave. His father’s birthday is today and his parents were going to meet him in Hogsmeade.” Alice answered.

“Oh, actually, Scorpius, Rose, and I were going there today. Do you want to come?” Albus asked.

“I would love to, but I think that I should be studying. This is our written OWL and we might take it into the other periods. Hagrid knows that actual OWLS and NEWTS are next month, but he says that it will be better to get it done early because we have a testing on taking care of animals. I guess that we have to take care of a animal for the rest of the year or something like that.” Alice answered, “and knowing Hagrid, that could somehow become a dragon.”

Albus laughed. That was true. Even when his parents were here Hagrid liked to take care of animals that were like that.

“Well, why don’t we see him tonight?” Albus asked, “what do you need to know?”

“I just need clarification really. I mean, I can take care of them no problem, but it’s their history I need to work on. Honestly, I could work with a centaur if I wanted to.” Alice said.

“Well, why is it so important if you miss only a couple of questions?” Albus asked.

“I want to work for the ministry, you know, taking care of those problems. Or at least work with centaurs. I wouldn’t go as far as your Uncle Charlie though. I don’t think that I could handle dragons.” Alice said and Albus saw that her eyes were no longer red, “but I need to get top marks for that job. In every one of those OWLS I have gotten the best mark in the class and I kind of need it.”

“Oh, well, maybe you should take a small break. If you know everything except those then you can keep that, and ask Hagrid later.” Albus suggested.

Alice stared at her book for a couple of seconds before closing it and sighing, “you’re probably right.”

Albus nodded and together they got up and walked over to Scorpius. Scorpius noticed them and he said bye to the others and walked over to them. He sat on the other side of Alice and he gave them a smile.

“Rose, Alice, and I are going to Hogsmeade today Scorpius. Do you care to join us?” Albus asked his friend.

“I don’t see why not.” Scorpius answered.

Alice looked at Albus and said, “thanks for inviting me. I needed a break.”Albus smiled at her and when she walked away with her books, Scorpius raised his eyes at him and Albus punched him.
