I DO NOT OWN HARRY POTTER OR ANY OF THE CHARACTERS IN THAT SERIES BECAUSE THEY ALL BELONG TO J.K. ROWLING!

-Chapter Ten-

Albus Potter walked down to the Great hall with Scorpius and Alice. Apparently Alice was reading a book to pass the time while they got ready considering that she was ready an hour before. she put her book back in her room before quickly coming back so that all three of them could walk down to the Great Hall.

They were surprised to see that it was full, but they weren’t surprised that it was loud. Everyone was talking about what had happened and how the school was in lock-down formation. No one was allowed to leave and no one was able to get in.

When Albus finally found a spot for all three of them to sit together. They did so and began to eat their breakfast.

“How long do you think that we will be here?” Alice asked them.

“Who knows. Until the ministry says so I guess.” Albus shrugged.

“They’re probably in full panic. You know, the entire employees. Everyone will be on this case. Nothing like this has ever happened before. It’ll be along investigation.” Scorpius told them, “we might even be here all summer.”

“That would suck!” Alice groaned.

“Better than being out there and unsafe.” Albus said.

Alice nodded and Albus was surprised to see the family owl come down. Scorpius’s followed. They both took the letters and fed their owls before opening the letters as the owls flew away. Albus looked at the letter to see that it was from his mother:

Dear Albus,

I wanted to say hello to you since we won’t be speaking for a while. The ministry is doing one of the biggest investigations that they have ever done. Your Uncle Percy is in charge of it all and he’s been really busy. He only sends the family something if he learns something new. As far as he knows there aren’t any suspects in the case, but considering that the dark mark was found above our home your Uncle thinks that it is a crime to target our family.

I ask that when you get out of school (whenever that may be) I want you Alice, and Lily to go to Grandma and Grandpa Weasley. They are already expecting you. We’re putting all of the children there so that they are safe. James and Teddy are going there too. Your father and I will come get all five of you when we feel that we are no longer feeling threatened.

I hope that you all are safe and I beg of you to follow Professor Longbottom and his rules. He knows what he is doing and he has promised to me that he will protect you all since he is the only one there who can be our eyes. I love you Albus and please tell Lily that I love her too.

Mum

Albus stared at the letter. Alice noticed and she took Albus’s hand.

“Are you okay? You’re a little pale.” Alice told him.

“I’m not exactly sure if I am fine. The dark mark was found above my parents house. They think that whoever did it is targeting my family. When we get out of Hogwarts my mother wants you, Lily, and I to go to my grandparents house until they think that it is safe.” Albus answered.

Scorpius sighed and put down his letter.

“My father is told me that he wants me to stay with your family until this mess is sorted out or until my mother is better. Whatever comes last.” Scorpius sighed.

Both Alice and Albus gapped at him.

“Your mother still isn’t better?” Alice asked him.

“According to my father no.” Scorpius answered.

“Scorpius I’m sure that she just has a flu.” Alice told him.

Scorpius shook his head and he got up, “no it’s not. My father is so stupid and ignorant that he won’t even admit that he needs help if it means my mother’s life.”

“Scorpius come on. Look okay I get that you are worried about your mom. I would be too, but at least your family isn’t being targeted and threatened.” Albus said.

Scorpius stared at Albus for a long time. Alice saw Scorpius start to pant as his shoulders quickly moved up and down.

“It always has to be about you and your family doesn’t it. Nothing is bad if it’s not with your family because they had it the worst than anyone else here.” Scorpius hissed in a cold tone, “my father was apart of the Battle Of Hogwarts too. My entire family was. So was half of the school’s. For once can you worry about my life and my family instead of bringing everything back to yours?”

Scorpius then turned around and stalked out of the room. Albus was staring at his friend as he left the room and he felt Alice take her hand out of his. He felt anger swell up in him as well as a small pit of guilt. Alice then patted his shoulder and said, “I’ll go talk to him.”

Albus didn’t do anything as Alice then left the table and went past crowds and out of the Great Hall. Albus sighed and then turned back to his letter before noticing that Scorpius’s was still on the table. Though he didn’t want to pry Albus took the letter into his hands and read:

Scorpius,

Your mother isn’t getting any better. That’s the bad news. The good news is that she isn’t any worst. Though she isn’t getting any sicker I still want you to spend the summer with the Potter family until this whole case with the dark mark is solved or until she is better. Whatever one offers more time to heal. I already spoken to Mr. and Mrs. Potter and they agreed to take care of you for the time being once you leave school. Promise me that you will take care of yourself and I promise you that I will take care of your mother until she is better. Also, I want you to know that no matter what happens with this case and the school’s lock down that I will always love you and your mother does too.

Dad

Albus sighed and he then put the letter back on the table where he got it from. He knew that Scorpius was right and it was something that Albus had tried to get out of habit, but it was hard. He cared so much for his family and after the tragedies that happened to his family with the Battle Of Hogwarts and how hid father lost his parents, godfather, and a couple of close adult friends it was hard to ignore. His father was still taking depression pills to help him try to get over the pain of his first eighteen years of his life.

But Albus just got Alice back. He didn’t want to loose another friend.

*

Scorpius stalked up the staircase and to the owl tower. He could hear Alice behind him running to catch up with him.

“Scorpius!” Alice called when they were in an empty staircase, “talk to me please.”

He ignored her and kept going up the staircase. Scorpius felt his legs getting tired so he knew that Alice would be slowing down.

“Scorpius please. You know that’s not what Albus meant. We’re all stressed.” Alice called up to him a little out of breath.

When Scorpius finally got to the door, he opened it and slammed it behind him as he walked into the room. The owls stirred and some squawked, but he just went to find his. Professor Perks was up there and she was surprised to see him in the state that he was in.

“Mr. Malfoy?” she asked.

“I’m fine. Do you have any extra paper and a quill?” Scorpius asked her.

She went to the bag that she was holding and gave Scorpius so. He took it and thanked her. Scorpius knew that Professor Perks was watching him as he went to the wall and wrote down in messy writing, but as well as he could make it in the angry state that he was in:

Dear Mr. Potter,

I know that it is odd to ask you for a favour, but I don’t know what else to do. My father keeps telling me that my mother is still sick and that I shouldn’t be there. I do like staying at your house, but I want to know that my mother isn’t dying. I’ve asked my father to get a healer for her, but I’m afraid that he is too arrogant for his own good. I’m asking that you please go over to my house and find out what exactly is going on and if my mother needs a healer. Like I said before Mr. Potter I wouldn’t be asking you to do me this favour if I wasn’t needing it. I’m begging you. Please help my mother.

Scorpius

Scorpius then folded the paper and he wrote Mr. Potter’s name at the front before he gave the paper to his bird.

“Send this to Mr. Potter okay?” he asked.

The bird just flew away and Scorpius gave Professor Perks back her quill before leaving the room to see Alice waiting outside of it. They looked at each other and she hugged him. He hugged her back and heard her say, “your mother will be okay. Your father is smart. You know that he loves you and your mother too much to let either one of you go. If your father thinks that your mother needs a healer then he will get one. Maybe it isn’t as bad as he makes it.”

I couldn’t help but feel doubt. Though Alice was completely right about everything that she said I didn’t want to risk it. I loved my mother and I loved my father. I was too scared to let anything happen to them.
