An album filled to the brim with storming guitar riffs and powerful vocals, even if your Faroese is a little rusty, By the Light of the Northern Star is a hugely enjoyable, feel good album.

As you might expect, giving this album a listen or two really does put you in the mood to get your longboat out and sail the fjords, with the intention of a whole lot of raiding and pillaging.

Hold the Heathen Hammer High is an incredible opener...

To be fair if you only listen to one album from a band categorised as 'Viking Metal,' then By the Light of the Northern Star really ought to be that album!
