Chapter 1: Discovery

Alab grabbed their bag and walked outside. It was one of those days where it was cloudy but you wouldn't know if it would rain or not. They grabbed their umbrella just in case. The same walk They did everyday. It's been a year since the incident, and Alab was still pissed about it, but they couldn't dwell on the past. As they walked, Alab looked over and noticed a building They had never seen before. Instinctively, They walked towards it. It seemed abandoned but as soon as Alab stepped inside, it seemed in well condition. The building gave off warm vibes. Alab hurried inside because of the distant sound of rain. It seemed to be a library. There was a book on the counter. Alab picked it up. "'Amethyst in the rough; Based on true events; written by Kim-ly [insert last name] and illustrated by Mateo [last name]'" They read aloud. "Oh- there's a human!" A voice said. "Aaa!" Alab yelled and threw the book. "AAAA! You didn't have to throw that at me!" The person said. It appeared to be a girl with brown hair and teal shirt, and almost glowed. She seemed ghostly. "Hello?" Alab slowly stood up. "Are you going to throw another book at me?" The ghost asked. "Are you going to kill me?" Alab shot back. "No, I was only going to ask you why you were here. There hasn't been alive visitors in years." The ghost explained. "Oh. Well, I'm Alab, who are you, how did you die, what is this place?" Alab questioned. "I'm Danielle, daughter of Odette Ridges, you know, that actress?" The ghost introduced herself. "I've heard of her." Alab replied. "Well, how I died is hard to explain because, I really don't remember that well, my take on it was that after a long day of shooting, I was off screen at the snack bar, feeling really hungry because I had to stay by while my mom was being recorded. Then, a man came up and took me. I tried to stop him, but he wouldn't stop. He locked me in his basement and left me there. I think it was ransom but I couldn't be sure. The man was about to release me because my mom paid the ransom but as he was about to let me go, I starved. My mother was devastated." Danielle said. "I-" Alab had no words. "I feel so bad." "It's okay." Danielle said. "That man died a month later and got what he deserved." They sat there in silence. "Oh, I should introduce you to the others." Danielle said. "'The others?'" Alab seemed a bit scared. How many ghosts would be in this library? "Mateo! Kim-ly!" Danielle shouted, it echoed off the walls. Suddenly, a book fell. "I was reading it, sorry." A girl said. A boy walked over. "I was trying to finish page 18's illustration." He huffed. "Alab, meet Kim-ly and Mateo, they write and illustrate all these books." Danielle introduced. "Hi." Kim-ly waved excitedly. Mateo, on the other hand, just stood in silence and nodded. "What are these books about?" Asked Alab. "People's lives. Specifically, those who were in this terrible murder game, we tell about their lives before the game and possibly after." Kim-ly explained.

"Really? Is that how you died?" Asked Alab. "No. I was hit by a car while going to make my comics published." Kim-ly said. "And Mateo fell down a long flight of stairs and broke lots of bones." "You didn't have to tell them that." Mateo said. "At least you didn't starve." Danielle shot back. As the ghosts argued, Alab picked up the book and started reading it. As they closed it with a satisfied sigh, the ghosts looked at Alab. "Did you like it?" Asked Kim-ly. "Yeah, it was great and I loved the little doodles on the pages, it was a really great biography." Alab said.
