Chapter 14- What He Wanted to Hear
Kurosawa raised his wooden cane and pointed it at Shindo. He then got lifted off the ground until Shindo came face to face with the skull's eyes. Shindo then started to gasp as he began to have trouble breathing. All Shindo could do was thrash around as he tried to return to the ground. Eventually, his face started to turn purple.
All of a sudden, Shindo sputtered, "It... wasn't... your... fault."
He then fell to the ground and faced Kurosawa again. The Yume no seirei had a surprised look on his face.
"You didn't murder that woman. Those villagers were wrong. You don't have to keep doing this!"
The spirit continued to stare at Shindo. Then, he shed a single tear.
"Thank you..."
With that, Toshihiro Kurosawa faded away. All he ever wanted was for someone to acknowledge that he was not a monster. And that someone was Ryo Shindo. The skull's mouth no longer produced blood.
"Hey!"
Hearing another voice, Shindo turned around to see Makihara.
"Makihara?"
"Need a way out? Just grab my hands and never let go."
Shindo did so, and the two ended up flying away from the town towards a hole in the sky. They stared at each other for a bit, and then they started kissing passionately. Once they reached the opening, Shindo woke up.
This dream easily outdid the others. Looking back, if Kurosawa had continued tormenting Shindo, he probably would have gone insane. Shindo did not know if he would ever be mentally well again after the vivid nightmares he had.
As Shindo prepared for work, he noticed that the game Chiptune City had been working on did not have a title yet. When he arrived at the studio, he had an idea.
"I think we should call the game... Akumu."
The End
