Chapter Twenty Six - Bella Luna.

A/N: So I haven't slept all night, I originally started writing this when it was Sunday and in my timezone (I live in the UK) it is Monday now. So I was super exhausted after Pride but somehow I managed to convince myself to come out to my mum in amongst all that exhaustion and I'm scared about her reaction because when I gave her the letter (I wrote it all down because I find it difficult to have conversations with my family and friends due to my social anxiety) she didn't even react and I know she's read it because I asked. But I also get that what I told her was probably a lot to take in but even an "I love you" would be better than nothing. I don't know what to do, I feel like I've disappointed her.

Also I'm intending to give you all a lot of domestic and fluffy Malec over the next few chapters because I:
A) want to get back into writing this
B) There's a specific plot point I want to address hopefully in the next chapter or so.
C) The feels are just too real and I really love the idea of domestic Malec after all the harsh emotional pain I've put y'all through.

Chapter Twenty Six – Bella Luna.
Magnus followed Jace into the Institute allowing his lover's Parabatai to lead the way up the numerous flights of stairs. He hadn't seen Alec all day and although he knew that if he couldn't find Alec at home he'd definitely find him at the Institute, it did nothing to relax him. He knew he shouldn't be so tense that worrying too much over Alec would only serve to push him further away considering how much the young Shadowhunter preferred to be the one concerned for everybody else and not the other way around, Magnus couldn't help it. It hadn't been long since the wedding had passed and Magnus knew Alec hadn't been entirely honest the night after the party when the warlock had asked whether his parents turning up had bothered him at all, he could sense it in the tense set of Alec's shoulders when he had asked. But he hadn't pressed him, he'd felt Alec would tell him on his own when he felt ready to but apparently not.

Turning up a narrow spiral staircase, illuminated only by faint witchlight and the sunlight beaming in through an open door, Magnus followed Jace up to the training room. The golden Shadowhunter stopped in the doorway, turning to face Magnus with a smile before pressing back as far as he could against the sharp stone wall so that Magnus could squeeze past and into the room. The small room with the slanted roof was in complete disarray. The dull streaks of sunlight shone through the years of dust that covered the glass of the small round window that was set up on the wall, close to the ceiling. Scattered across the wooden floor were several canvas dummies with multiple patches where the slices from Seraph blades had been sown shut to keep from having to replace them. Red tipped arrows and a familiar black and silver runed bow were also scattered on the floor, surrounding the passed out form of Alec like a deadly halo.

The young Shadowhunter's mouth lolled slightly open, soft snores emanating every time he twitched or shuffled in his sleep. His dark eyelashes  fluttered restlessly across his cheekbones, the surrounding eyelids dark with the shadows of many sleepless nights making a stark contrast against his pale face. His black hair was sticking up in every direction almost like Alec had been pulling on it in his sleep. Finally Magnus felt his tense body relax, his heart melting and a gentle smile gracing his lips as he quietly walked over and sat cross legged on the floor beside his sleeping love, a hand taking hold of the pale one. Magnus stared up at Jace, who was still stood in the doorway, nodding a silent word of thanks before looking back down at his lover. "You'd better get him home." Jace murmured quietly so that he didn't wake his Parabatai, making his way gracefully - in the way only a Shadowhunter could - further into the room, stopping to start picking up Alec's bow and arrows.

Magnus's fingers continued rubbing gentle and loving circles on the back of Alec's hand, stilling only when Alec frowned and muttered, "Magnus." He glanced up at Jace again to see that he had also frozen, half stooped with the tip of an arrow dangling between his fingertips, his golden eyes fixed on the older Lightwood. "Go on. I don't think you'll want to be sat on the floor till he wakes up, he usually sleeps like the dead. Used to take me and Izzy jumping on him on our days off to get him to wake up." Jace chuckled quietly. "I've got this. Go home and tell him to call me when he wakes up." Magnus didn't feel like arguing knowing that Jace was right, when Alec slept he slept like the dead. Summoning a quick Portal that Magnus knew would open up in his and Alec's bedroom, he sent Alec through first before turning to Jace and thanking him out loud.

Jace waved a hand, shaking off Magnus's thanks. "You're family." He said, shooting a crooked grin at Magnus. Although the statement was simple it still touched Magnus, even though technically it was true now that he had married Alec and the fact it was said by Jace, who around his Parabatai - or even matters that concerned his Parabatai, Magnus noticed - became a different person, someone who didn't have to pretend to be so sure of their every action, who constantly had a frown of worry on his face whenever Alec's health or safety or even his happiness was threatened. Magnus barely snapped out of his thoughts to hear Jace's hushed, "Take care of him. He's been through enough already."
Magnus nodded in agreement, "I will." He said before stepping through the Portal and sealing it shut.

Magnus stepped out into his apartment, taking a deep breath feeling intense gratitude at being in his own home again. Lifting Alec gently into his arms, Magnus used his magic to pull the covers of their bed back before setting the Shadowhunter down under the sheets and pulling the duvet up under his pale angular chin before climbing in on the opposite side. He removed his rings so they would snag on Alec's hair before running his fingers through the dark curls. He pressed a sweet kiss to the side of Alec's forehead, "Sleep my love. I'll stay right here. I'll always be here." He whispered before cuddling up to the warmth of his lover and falling asleep too.

Alec woke from his sleep in a comfortable bed, a soft warmth lying beside him instead of alone on the cold wooden flooring of the training room like he originally remembered passing out on. He relaxed into the pillows, the silver of the moonlight through the window making his skin glow, seeming paler than it usually would during the day. He turned towards the sleeping figure of the warlock beside him, nudging him gently awake. "Magnus?" Alec whispered. "Magnus!"
"Fear not," Magnus mumbled, his face pressing into Alec's shoulder, "I have no intention of being a pirate again. Nor do I intend to return to Peru." Alec chuckled shaking his head as he gave up trying to wake Magnus for the time being as he flicked on the lamp on the bedside table on his side of the bed.

He was just about the reach for his phone when Magnus's voice snapped, making him jump, "Alexander!"
"What?" Alec retorted, thinking Magnus was awake, his back still turned on the warlock. "Surely you realise it by now?" Magnus's response came, Alec stayed silent completely baffled by whatever it was Magnus was talking about. "You are the gayest gay to ever gay. I am certain your straight face has failed you and flown off to live in an Egyptian dessert somewhere. A fact which I find most endearing about you." Alec's face flushed scarlet, a hand covering his face as he threw himself onto back, his laughter seeming to reverberate against the walls of the quiet room, jolting Magnus awake with a cry of: "It's okay. He's gay." Which only served to make Alec's laughter worse as the Shadowhunter clutched at his sides with the hand that wasn't covering his mouth.

Magnus leaned over the top of Alec looking at him with a bemused but bleary eyed expression as Alec laughed uncontrollably, the hand covering his mouth joining the other clutching his sides. The warlock waited until the laughter had subsided into giggles that escaped here and there as Alec wiped the tests away from his eyes before pressing his lips sweetly against Alec's own. "It's so nice to see you laughing." Magnus whispered with a smile when he had pulled back from the kiss, the minimalist amount of space between his and Alec's face, so close the tips of their noses brushed together. Magnus stared down into Alec's eyes, the silver moonlight shining on his face illuminating his blue eyes with a trace of silver, he raised a hand tracing the pads of his fingertips over Alec's cheekbone and jaw with a soft smile.

"Hey now Bella Luna. Hey now pretty moon. Tell me what it takes to shine just like you." Magnus sung softly, his voice a hushed whisper in the silent room as he pressed a lovingly kiss to Alec's lips. Alec smiled, his teeth a flash of white in the dark room. "I think you shine pretty well. Especially with all that glitter." He teased, ruffling Magnus's fringe sending a waterfall of glitter through the ray of moonlight, shimmering as it fell landing on his chest. The Shadowhunter groaned with a laugh as he attempted to brush off the glitter from his lying down position on the bed, "I shouldn't have done that."
"Serves you right. You ruined the moment." Magnus laughed, moving back from Alec a little.
"No." Alec said suddenly, wrapping his arms around Magnus and pulling him close once more, kissing a line up Magnus's neck. "I've been pushing you away for so long now. There's no way you're getting away that quickly."
Magnus sighed in contentment. "If I'm completely honest. I gave you the space. I didn't want you to feel obligated to tell me what was on your mind just because we're married now."
Alec nipped at Magnus's jawline, his lips brushing against the soft skin as he mumbled, "I'm sorry. I will tell you, just not tonight. I promise. I love you."
"I know." Magnus said, turning his head and capturing Alec's lips finally
