Chapter Thirty Two - Intermission.
A/N: Okay so I struggled with writing this update since I haven't written this story for a really long time and I was lacking the inspiration for it as I'm not overly fond of filler chapters. But it's getting down to a decent chunk of the plot.
Plus personal issues have been getting in the way of me writing and posting this so if it sucks it's cause there's a lot going on right now that I can't explain.
But anyway enjoy!

Chapter Thirty-Two – Intermission
Catarina stayed in Magnus' apartment, tidying up and ensuring Magnus would have a remedy for his obvious morning hangover and food that would help him through the sickness that he would no doubt feel from the moment he woke up until he started to take better care of himself. She hummed quietly as she worked, laying out fresh clothing on the bed that Magnus could change into – something that was less stylish that his usual outfits, but she figured it would suffice for a day spent on the sofa doing nothing. She ensured that Chairman Meow would have enough food to keep the little kitten going until Magnus felt better enough to take care of his companion before she hurriedly wrote a note, leaving it on the coffee table in front of Magnus's sleeping form on the sofa before she let herself quietly out of the front door, using her magic to seal the latch from the inside of the apartment to ensure no one would break in and steal from her sleeping friend. As soon as her feet hit the pavement of the street, she headed in the direction of her own home, her tilted up to the starless night sky as she concealed herself within her glamour and headed off on her short journey.

Clary lifted herself up onto the rafters of the training room of the New York Institute, her flaming red hair tied up in a tight bun on the top of her head. She swung herself around the wooden bar twice before she landed perfectly balanced on top of the wooden beam, grinning as Isabelle landed swiftly beside her. "You're getting better." Isabelle commented, sitting herself down gracefully on the wooden beam in an elegant movement that Clary could only envy as she cautiously knelt on the beam, gripping the wood tightly as she sat beside Isabelle, their feet dangling a few feet above the floor. She smiled her appreciation of the compliment at the other female for a moment, giving herself a chance to catch her breath before she spoke. "Have you heard anything from Jace and Alec?" She asked, tightening a loose strap of her training gear, "I received a text from Jace that they were going on a mission about two hours ago, just before you called me to train with you."
Isabelle shook her head, her long flowing black curls fluttering in the gentle movement. "I know my brothers though, they'll watch each other's backs and keep each other safe no matter the danger." Clary nodded, letting the loose strap fall from her hands as her eyes turned their attention to the flecks of paint underneath her nails from her latest painting session.
"The mission is a risky one though, I mean getting that book back surely won't be easy and it's important that they do it." Isabelle continued, "We need that book back before Lynn Alder manages to raise any powerful Greater Demons." Clary nodded her head swinging her legs back and forth. "Well hopefully we will succeed and she won't escape Jace and Alec." Flicking her hair over her shoulder, Isabelle nodded as she stood back up lightly tapping Clary's shoulder before she jumped down from the rafters. "Come on, lets see how you are with your swordplay."

Jace watched from the shadows, waiting as he observed from the shadows giving himself the time to scope out the situation he had now found himself in and come up with a plan to get both him and Alec out of this. He snuck slowly forwards, watching Lynn Alder warily as he stuck to the sides of the large room as she danced around the room gathering ingredients that she would need for the spell to summon the Greater Demons. "Nightshade...hemlock...." She hummed quietly to herself as she threw the two ingredients into the pot, flames leaping up from inside as she scanned the next few lines of the book in her arms. "Blood of a downworlder." She frowned a little as she thought, curling a strand of her blue hair around her finger before she grinned. "Oh yes!" Lynn Alder said in a hushed tone, her voice hurriedly changing deep and guttural as she summoned a small number of demons to her side.
Dragged along the ground, behind the Raum demons was a small werewolf child who looked about nine years old. Jace watched helplessly as the child kicked and squirmed, clouds of dust and dirt kicked into the air as the boy struggled, snarling and growling his eyes flashing amber. Lynn tutted as she gripped the boy's curly brown hair sharply, yanking him up until he was stood beside her whilst Jace pulled a seraph blade free, not naming it just yet so he could stay concealed. "Stay still!" Lynn snapped viciously at the child. "I wouldn't want to miss and kill you!" She raised her silver knife, dragging it across the small boy's forearm, smirking as he howled as the silver burnt him. She held the open wound over the pot, squeezing roughly as the blood dripped over the remaining contents of the summoning spell before she dropped the boy's arm, leaving it completely healed as she turned to face him, dragging her fingers lightly over his face, drawing them back with a glare as he snapped sharp pointy teeth at her. "Go home little one. Be thankful for your life and tell no one what you saw here." She murmured, letting him run off.
Turning her attention back once more to the book, whilst she cleaned her knife off on her black clothes she grinned, her eyes glinting maliciously as she looked over the words on the page before settling her gaze on Alec. From the shadows, Jace shivered not liking the way she looked at his Parabatai. "Now little shadowhunter. It's time for your sacrifice." She grinned, raising her knife up in the air above Alec's head, the moonlight through the hole in the roof making the blade shimmer. Jace didn't hesitate as he ran forward out of the shadows, his seraph blade raised, glowing brightly as he ran towards his enemy.
