EARLY LIFE:

Obito was born and raised in Konohagakure. He has never known his parents and was raised by his grandmother. There is contention as to who his parents are but writer was unable to complete his genealogy as several records in the Uchiha files in Konoha have been destroyed.

He attended the Academy with Rin Nohara and Kakashi Hatake. There was an intense rivalry between himself and Kakashi, over Rin's affections, jutsu mastery and Academy standings. Kakashi far outstripped Obito in terms of skill and fighting ability at this age and this would continue until adulthood.

Obito was cripplingly shy during his younger years and failed to make much of a romantic impression on Rin. However, before her death, she may have realized his affection for her and begun to reciprocate. We will never really know the truth to this statement as Rin was killed by Kakashi during a rescue mission gone wrong. Obito didn't witness the event but he witnessed the aftermath and this, along with the abandonment and the physical disfiguration, sealed his mind in hatred and revenge. He swore to kill Kakashi.

As a group, they were assigned to Minato Namikaze and sent on missions during the Third Shinobi War. It was during a mission that Obito was trapped beneath a large rock and gave his left eye to Kakashi as a parting gift, along with the promise to protect Rin. His teammates soon abandoned him to his fate and returned to their Village, presuming he was dead.

Obito was rescued by Zetsu who brought him to Madara Uchiha, a fabled shinobi who was presumed to have been killed by Hashirama at the Battle of The End. Madara nursed him back to health and gave him "Guruguru", a sentinent being who later morphed into Obito's alter ego "Tobi".

Madara taught him how to fight and use his natural abilities and affinities to better himself and to advance their joint mission of peace through terror. They had planned to place the World under a genjutsu strong enough to make the population weak and submissive. Thankfully, their plan never came to fruition.

PRE-AKATSUKI:

Obito, and Tobi, infiltrated Nagato's Akatsuki organization at the request of Madara. Obito worked behind the scenes to place Nagato in a position of power and thus make Nagato answerable to him. Obito used the Akatsuki to lay the groundwork for his own plan, often using it as a launching point for his own attacks.

At age 13, he snuck back into Konoha and tried to kill his former sensei's newborn child and his wife. He fought with his former sensei, a battle he recalls as "thrilling", but was unable to defeat him. It didn't matter because the Tailed Beast that Kushina was holding escaped and killed her and Minato. Luckily, their son was spared and became the new vessel for the Tailed Beast. This placed the child high on Obito's hit list.

It wasn't until Nagato and Obito had recruited all the members they thought necessary to complete their mission, that the Akatsuki's purpose changed. Obito manipulated Nagato into transforming the organization from one of peace seeking to one of conflict seeking.

Through Obito's manipulations, the Akatsuki began to take on more and more missions that blurred the line between illegality and immorality. Obito doesn't see the differences between the two organizations, insisting it "would've happened" if he was there or not.

AKATSUKI:

Due to his machinations, the Akatsuki was defeated, along with Madara Uchiha whom Obito had revived from the dead. This is a direct violation of the "Reanimation Act" which forbids the use of arcane dark techniques to change the outcome of a person's death and prevent that death altogether.

Obito realized his chance of defeating Kakashi during the Fourth Shinobi War. He came agonizingly close to gaining his revenge but, once again, Kakashi prevailed. Kakashi winning, showing dominance over him yet again, shattered whatever was left of Obito and the man became broken beyond repair.

It was at this point that Tobi took over Obito's psyche. Writer determined it was for psychological survival and Tobi remains firmly in charge of Obito's mind, with exceptions. Writer is able to coax Obito out from time to time by bribing Tobi with candy.

POST CAPTURE:

Obito/Tobi spends most of his time pacing the jail floor and muttering to himself. He has developed physical tics in response to his trauma: biting his lower lip, twitching his eyebrows, flicking and fiddling with his fingers. Outbursts are rare but when they do happen, they are excessively violent.

Recently, Obito murdered his cell mate in a particularly gory fashion. He waited until the guards were distracted with shift change, stripped naked, retrieved a shank he had made from a toothbrush and a razor blade, and slashed the cell mate's throat.

He dismembered the body using only his shank and covered himself in the blood and entrails of his dead cell mate. He used more of the blood to paint a portrait of Rin on his cell wall. When he was finally discovered, he was in a corner, rocking back and forth, and saying the names of his enemies in what was described as an "eerie chant". When asked why he did it, Tobi replied "because I wanted to".

Obito has been placed in solitary confinement on the mental health ward but writer fears this ongoing confinement is doing more harm that good.

FITNESS:

Obito is NOT fit for trial. This subject has no understanding of his crimes and shows no regret or remorse. Subject is cold, calculating and unfeeling, and Tobi relishes in pain, suffering and gore.

Writer endorses the prosecution's request for the death penalty but requests death by lethal injection. While Tobi certainly deserves the electric chair, Obito deserves a humane death. It will take more psychological work to determine if Obito can come through and dominate Tobi. Until then, those are writer's recommendations.
