EARLY YEARS:

Kakuzu was born and raised in Takigakure. Not much is known about his mother but his father was an influential member of Takigakure's elite corps.

As a teenager, he was given the mission to assassinate Konoha's First Hokage, Hashirama Senju. Fortunately for Hashirama, Kakuzu was not successful in his mission and returned to Takigakure in disgrace. For his failure, he was punished severely and placed in prison.

During his imprisonment, his hatred of his Village and it's inhabitants, especially the Elders, only grew and he fuelled his hatred with sadistic and cruel plans for their demise.

Kakuzu escaped his prison and before he fled the Village, he killed his father, the Elders and anyone else of high ranking power he could find. He also stole and infused his Village's Forbidden Jutsu into his body, making him seemingly immortal.

Being imprisoned at such a young age and for the crime of failure has instilled in Kakazu a strong sense of injustice and delusions of persecution. He lashes out violently when cornered and when he does kill, it is often overkill. Kakuzu doesn't admit to losing control or "blacking out" (as he calls it) but writer is not convinced.

Individuals with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder often withdraw into themselves, intentionally or not, and are prone to fits of unpredictable violence. The fact that Kakuzu displays all of these hallmarks and maintains that "he was like that when I found him" is indicative of him losing control and suffering situational amnesia.

PRE-AKATSUKI:

Kakuzu roamed the World, hunting down targets and collecting bounties. He made strong ties in the underworld and earned a reputation based on fear and his ability to deliver what he promised.

Money is always his end goal and he states he "can never have enough of it". Kakuzu sees money as they only permanent and tangible form of existence and he will use anyone he can to accomplish his goals.

He hinted at several off Nation bank accounts and leads writer to believe that he is far richer than he portrays. When asked why he would need such a hoard of money if he's in prison, he responded with a phrase that has become common to him: "even Hell runs on money".

It is interesting to note that during his time eluding law enforcement, there was an increase in random murders in random Villages. All of the victims had their hearts torn out of their chest cavity with force. The heart was the only organ taken and the bodies left in decent shape. The hearts have never been recovered and when asked about this, Kakuzu merely chuckles evilly. Writer is convinced Kakuzu is an evil man to his core.

AKATSUKI:

After decades of struggling to stay alive and ahead of the law, Kakuzu joined the Akatsuki. Initially he was partnered with four other men but due to his mental issues, Kakuzu killed all of them. He was later assigned to Hidan purely for the fact that they can't kill each other; they're both immortal in a sense.

Despite his miserly and cold personality, Kakuzu did grudgingly show some care towards the other members of the Akatsuki. He arranged for their financing, sewed up and healed wounded members and worked closely with Pein to ensure the missions were assigned to the correct members for the best results.

Despite their mutual loathing for each other, Kakuzu and Hidan did get along surprisingly well. Kakuzu shocked writer when he asked if writer had seen Hidan recently and asked about his welfare. When asked about the other members, he said "they can all die for all I care" and displayed dismissive body language. It seems Kakuzu has limited affection and doles it out sparingly to those he deems worthy of it.

Kakuzu and Hidan did successfully capture several jinchuriki and assisted in sealing the Tailed Beasts within the Gedo Statue. Neither he, nor Hidan, would be free to see their work pay off.

POST CAPTURE:

While in prison, Kakuzu has murdered every cell mate who has been assigned to him. It is now a prison rule that no one is assigned to this man and he is largely left to himself. He spends his days in the recreation yard pacing the small space.

Kakuzu has adapted well to prison life and the unhealthy coping methods he learned during his first imprisonment are aiding him here. He thinks nothing of beating up a smaller prisoner to take his food or his money. Staff intervenes, violently and using the SWAT teams, if Kakuzu tries to take another prisoner's or an officer's heart.

He doesn't need them as he has no threats but he can't seem to help his compulsion to kill and forcibly steal hearts. The medical doctor assigned to the prison states Kakuzu is in perfect health so there is no reason for this kind of behaviour. Unless it's a sick coping mechanism or Kakuzu is planning a prison breakout and the hearts are for in case he is wounded in the attempt.

DIAGNOSIS:

Psychopathy
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
Hoarding (money, hearts)
Distorted Body Image (Kinjutsu stitches)

FITNESS:

Subject is fit to stand trial although he has waived his right to a trial and requested to be sentenced to death.

He does not believe that the justice system is fair and is easily corrupted and therefore doesn't want the "waste" of a trial. When asked to elaborate on what the "waste" would be, he simply replied "money".
