Manga's Origin

Okay. I had all the books I needed. One book on ninjutsu, one on taijutsu, one on genjutsu, one on wolves, one on crystallization, and one bingo book. Perfect! I smiled at the librarian as I left. She even let me keep these books because no one ever rented them! What village was this again? Sunagakure? Perfect! That meant that my home wasn't too far away. Too bad I had to share it with my pain in the butt older brother. At least my little brother still lived with my parents.

"Hmm....let's see, if I just head straight I can be there in twenty minutes. Then again, it's getting pretty dark. The safest route would be thirty minutes to take though, and Tyler will eat all of my food if I don't get back in time," I sighed and took the freaking creepy route. I always get scared easily because my dad scared me all the time when I was young. And he still does now. I heard my phone ring halfway through walking in the woods and I jumped, placing a hand over my heart and answering it.

"TYLER YOU MORON I WILL DESTROY YOU!!!" I hissed at the phone.

"I scared you again, didn't I?" Tyler asked calmly on the other end of the phone.

"Shut up. Why did you call me?" I asked, my heart rate calming down.

"We need groceries," Tyler yawned and I could tell he was eating potato chips.

"Well you get them. I got them last time, so it's your turn!" I retorted.

"Things were so much easier when we lived with mom and dad," Tyler complained.

"You remember what dad said right? As soon as you turn thirteen and you want to become a ninja, you have to go train on your own," I reminded him.

"That was a year or two ago though! Why did he make it when you turned thirteen anyway?" Tyler asked, irritated.

"Because someone lied about wanting to be a normal person. Besides, it's been like this for generations in our family. If we want to protect others we have to protect ourselves first, right?" I chided, smirking even though I knew he couldn't see me.

"Okay, that was one lie. And you and I are living together, so isn't that cheating?" Tyler snapped back.

"No. We get things for ourselves and we also get things for each other, so it's the same thing," I sighed. This is the tenth time we had this conversation. This month.

"I gotta go, I'm getting another call. If you come home with a lot of books again I will kill you, you nerd," Tyler hung up and I rolled my eyes as I put my phone back in my pocket.

"You're name wouldn't happen to be Haley would it?" I heard a voice behind me ask. I jumped and turned around to find two very tall men in robes. One was blue and carrying a sword while the other had a black ponytail and looked emotionless. Hmm, I heard about these two people somewhere. Maybe in my bingo book?

"I go by Manga," I told him, backing up a little. I didn't know these people.

"Hm, aren't you jumpy? You get scared easily don't you?" the blue man smiled toothily and I twitched. Was it that obvious? I was about to respond when someone jumped down from a tree branch with a hockey mask on and wielding a katana. I blinked before I screamed the most I have ever screamed and started running.

"F***. Hey shorty, wait up!" the blue man yelled, and the three of them tried to keep up. Luckily for me, I'm pretty fast...for thirty seconds and my time is almost up.

"Hey wait! I won't kill you, I promise!" the one who had the hockey mask yelled. The voice was feminine. I didn't listen though and kept on running. Ten more seconds.

"Well s***. Itachi! You get her!" the blue man yelled to the ponytail guy and my eyes widened. Itachi? Uchiha Itachi? Great, another freaking Uchiha. I slammed on my feet and turned around to stare at the ponytail guy.

"Uchiha? Another one?! Your brother annoys me! He always insults me whenever I visit the Leaf and he acts like he's superior to me in every way! What the heck is up with that? Seriously?" I asked, waving my hands everywhere. The Uchiha looked confused and the girl with the hockey mask took it off and I could see she was smiling. She had dark blonde hair.

"Oh my gosh! I know, right?!He did that to me until I fought him and won," she smirked at the end and I frowned.

"I can't fight someone unless I have to. Annoyance isn't a good reason to fight someone," I stated my opinion and she frowned.

"You're too nice. You need to be more violent! like me!" she grinned and pointed to herself at the end.

"Would you like to join Akatsuki?" Itachi asked. Akatsuki? Where have I heard that name before....oh crap.

"No thank you. I'm currently living with my brother right now so," I started backing away slowly, I know for a fact that I can't outrun them right now. My house was ten minutes away.

"What about your parents?" the blue man asked. I shrugged.

"When someone turns thirteen in my family and they want to be a ninja then they have to leave the family. Our motto is 'Before you can protect others you have to protect yourself'," I shrugged.

"That's stupid," the girl commented.

"It's tradition," I shrugged.

"I'm afraid that we don't have a choice. We'll have to take you by force," Itachi told me, his sharingan activating. I made sure not to look him in the eyes and I tried to make a run for it again. Before I could though I felt dizzy. Great. Training before going to the library and running afterwards at maximum speed isn't good for you apparently. I blacked out.

*So many hours later*

"What the heck happened? Tyler? Tyler?! TYLER YOU BETTER NOT BE OFF DRINKING AGAIN!" I yelled, trying to stand up. I noticed I was chained to a chair with chakra constricting chains. Lovely.

"I really want to meet your brother," a familiar voice spoke from the darkness and I groaned.

"I was hoping that was a dream." I whined.

"Nothing was a dream. Manga, do you know who we are?" a person with orange hair and a lot of piercings emerged from the darkness and I sighed.

"Great. You are the Akatsuki. The most feared group with apparently twelve people in it with unique abilities who are ordered around by their leader, a.k.a you. You work for nations and against nations, not siding with anyone, but not going against anyone. Am I correct?" I asked in a bored tone. Twelve people emerged from the darkness and most of them had their eyes widened.

"Well d***. She does her research," a blonde haired boy spoke up. I looked to my left and found my books to be by my side in my bag and I smiled. I tried to reach for it, but I couldn't.

"That's...very accurate actually. Why didn't you know this Samantha?" the guy turned towards the girl I had met earlier and she shrugged.

"Because I don't care," Sam smiled.

"Right. Itachi told me you didn't want to join Akatsuki, is that correct?" he asked me and I nodded.

"Yes. so, please let me go so I can go get groceries for my brother," I smiled.

"Would you join for a cupcake?" he presented a chocolate cupcake and I looked at it.

"You're kidding right? Am I getting pranked?" I asked, bored.

"Well Sam fell for it," a blue haired lady said.

"I'll take it if she doesn't want it!" Sam waved her hand in the air and the orange haired guy sighed, tossing her the cupcake.

"Okay, then if you join you ill have an unlimited amount of books?" he reasoned.

"Dangit that sounds awesome, but no. I need to go back and look out for my brother, and he needs to look out for me. Family is important to me," I told him, trying to get out of the chains, but failing.

"Hm...if we keep her in here like Sam she would find a way to escape," the orange head started talking to the blue haired lady. She nodded.

"Okay, we don't have another choice. Sam, you are to look after her and make sure she doesn't escape," he looked towards Sam who had just finished the cupcake. She gave a thumbs up and he looked at me again.

"Might as well tell you the people in here. There's Sasori, Deidara, Tobi, Madara, Konan, Sam, Itachi, Zetsu, Kisame Kakuzu, Hidan, and me, Pein, but you will call me leader," he pointed to everyone as he mentioned them.

"....." I didn't even bother to talk, I was already ticked off. Everyone except Sam left. She smiled and then took the chains off.

"It gets better," Sam smiled, trying to cheer me up. I walked over to the wall and punched a hole in it. I immediately felt better.

"No offense Sam, you seem nice and all, but I'm going to try to escape every chance I get," I smiled back at her.

"That's okay. Wouldn't be fun any other way," Sam smiled and then snapped her fingers.

"Oh yeah! Itachi is off limits, so don't be getting any ideas," Sam glared at me for a minute and I shrugged.

"He's yours. I don't like him," I told her and she smiled again.

"Who do you like?" she asked. Sam sure was easy to get along with.

"No one," I answered and she frowned.

"That'll hopefully change. It wouldn't be fun to have a friend you didn't like someone. There wouldn't be anything to talk about," Sam shrugged.

"Like I told you, I don't plan on staying for long," I started rocking on my feet, already thinking of ways to get out of here.

"Just remember, we have your books," Sam stole my stack of books and began running.

"What the- Hey!" I ran after her. Escaping can wait. I need my books.
