~Ch 6~ The Fated Escape - Part 1

'It's cold.' Thought Daiki, as he felt a small chill.

Daiki knew that he had to stop pushing things away and face the truth. Yona might die tonight.

Daiki didn't really know. He's a black dragon, but he doesn't see the future, he only caught couple glimpses. It all depends on how it's all played.

The door flew open making Daiki look to see the gorilla person from earlier, now that he got a good look he does not really resemblance a gorilla, but his name stays.

"Kye-sook." Soo-won addressed the man. "Everything is ready, Lord-Soo-won" said gorilla person, bowing, though Daiki guessed thay he should address him as Kye-sook from now on.

Daiki noticed a couple of guards behind him. He sighed, 'So I guess the only person we have now is Hak. I don't know about Min-soo though....' Daiki sighed again, this is going to be one tough game to win.

Well if you were a human that is.

He was a dragon, totally different.

...but then again, Hak doesn't really seem human either, that monster....

Anyway; moving on.

Kye-sook noticed Yona and the dead King II, "It seems you have achived your long-wish desire." He walked towards Soo-won and glanced at Yona as if she was a troublesome obstacle.

"Princess Yona see it?" Soo-won flinched ever so slightly, Kye-sook sighed, "Then let's make this quick, Kill her, Lord Soo-won."

Daiki reached for his paralyzing poison darts, his eyes now glittered with slight worry and anxiety. Soo-Won's eyes narrowed as Daiki noticed a slight glimmer of regret, which let him loosen his grip on the darts slightly.

Soo-won raised his sword and Yona had enough humanity instinct to stand up and try to escape, but hit a guard and fell down knocking a torch down.

Its fire spread on a nearby carpet.

"Put it out! We must not awaken the guests!" Kye-Sook ordered, Yona took this chance to run, as the guards ran to put out the fire.

"Seize her." Soo-won ordered as he wiped the blood off his sword with a cloth. Daiki mentally noted that he didn't say "kill"

"Hai!" the soldiers said as they ran out.

Daiki silently whispered, "Kaze no dageki wa, jiyu ni, samu-sa, sairento, dageki o fukimasu.....Kaze no dageki wa, jiyu ni, samu-sa, sairento, dageki o fukimasu.... (translation: Wind blow, freely blow, cold, silent, blow...Wind blow, freely blow, cold, silent, blow)

Suddenly, the windows burst open and a strong gust of wind, it didn't attack Soo-Won or Kye-sook, but the guards running after Yona, it knocked them down, and they began shivering whispering how cold they felt.

Soo-won's eyes widened while Kye-Sook began ranting angrily how these guards were useless.

Daiki took this time to slip out the window and look for Yona, it wouldn't take him long, I mean, how hard is it to find a non-active naive girl whose wearing a heavy dress and not to mention heavy garments? Plus, as a dragon, I could easily smell out her way-too-much perfum.

~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~

Few seconds later...

~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~

Daiki found Hime-san, surrounded by guards pointing spears at her.

He was on the roof again, but now fully restocked with weapons he hid in his room.

"We are doing this for the Kingdom of Kouka." One of the soldiers said, Daiki sighed, perhaps if it was a different black dragon, he would be down-right furious, but he couldn't really blame them.

The Kouka citizens wouldn't want to be ruled by a naive princess who never did much by herself, and is the daughter of the bad-ruling King II.

Daiki heard Yona's thoughts, 'Did Soo-won hate me, even back then?' Daiki saw a scene where a smiling young version of Soo-won placed a flower crown on Yona's head. 'I only ever loved Soo-won...'

Daiki sighed  'Still as naive as ever.' He thought. Though it can't be helped.

'I didn't ask for much...' Yona thought as Soo-won and Kye-Sook arrived at the scene, 'As long as I could see Soo-Won's smile, I was happy.'

Daiki slightly widened his eyes in suprise, 'Is this what they call "devoted love?' Daiki wondered. 'Soo-won doesn't know how lucky he is...'

He shook himself, 'Baka!' He mentally shouted at himself. This was no time to make such nonchalant comments (No matter how true it is.), any moment Yona could die under a sword by a mere soldier.

It was not a worthy death of a reincarnation of King Hiryuu! Daiki wouldn't allow it! If King Hiryuu was going to die, he shall die the most flashiest and tragic way! (Shin-chan: that's what your worried about?) Daiki almost slapped himself, 'and this is no time to be thinking of Yona's death, I would regret it for the rest of my life if I let her be killed when I could have saved her!'

Daiki snapped out of his thinking when he heard a cry of grief, "Soo-Won!!" Yona cried, tears streaming as a soldier raised his sword, Daiki felt his eyes turn bright yellow, as he reached for a 'death' needle, this guy is going to die a slow and painful death, but before he could shoot, a lightning of black and blue flashed in front of Yona, suddenly the soldiers around her fell back.

It was Hak.

Daiki slightly gasped as his eyes turned back to its original colour, he stared at the aimed needle between his fingers, and sighed as he put it back, sometimes he can't control 'yellow' mode, that mode really was merciless. Real Daiki wouldn't try to kill the soldier, but perhaps they might suffer.....painfully. (Shin-chan: *shivers*)

Daiki heard Hak speak. "I knew Lord Soo-Won was here tonight, so I was trying to stay out of your way." Hak said, his hair covering his eyes, Soo-won looked at him coldly and calmly.

Hak continued, "The guards who were supposed to be on watch are all gathered here. There are people I don't recognize, too." Hak rose up, "What is going on here? Huh, Lord Soo-won?" His eyes were dangerously narrowed as it shone an emotion of 3 - anger/confusion/ and a small very slight hint of.....betrayal.

"H-Hak?" Yona whimpered, 'Ah..I almost forgot about her because of all the drama...I really should pitch in soon...maybe when the fight is reaching its end...I don't want to use my advantage of surprise just yet, until Yona is in real danger...oh yeah, I guess I'll save Hak while I'm at it...' Daiki thought, feeling a slight lazy vibe hit his body besides all the drama.

Hak turned around, confused when Yona was in a state of sadness and despair that he had never seen, he kneeled down. "I'm sorry for leaving your side, Princess Yona."

Yona looked down, and then looked up at Hak with an emotion that neither Daiki or Hak ever wanted to see on Yona's face again.

"Hak...Hak are you on..my side?" she asked, tears still in her eyes.

Hak looked shock for a second. 'Why would she say that...' wondered Hak, he smiled despite the situation, "I promised King II that I would protect you no matter what, no matter what happens"

He began to rose again, the monstrous weapon in his hands, "And I'll obey him no matter what!" Hak looked back at Soo-won.

Daiki half smiled, it was his loyalty and sense of courage that made him one of the very few people Daiki respected and actually liked.

Kye-Sook had a smug smile, obviously not knowing who Hak was. "Weapons down servant, you are standing before King Soo-Won, the new master of Hiryuu castle." Hak asked, "Who's the master of what, now?" his voice trying to stay the same.

"I have a bad feeling about this, but I'll ask. Lord Soo-Won, where is King II?" he asked his eyes darkening.

'I'm pretty sure you're smart enough to figure that out Hak, but let me guess, your loyalty and friendship to Soo-won makes you confused right? Ma, I guess anyone would be..' Daiki thought, still sitting on the roof relaxing slightly despite the situation.

Soo-Won replied ever so calmly, "I just sent him to hell."

Hak's spear suddenly cracked the stone ground his eyes wide, and the pupils tiny, sending a horror/angry/disbelief/furious look in his glare which almost made Daiki wince. The soldier and Kye-sook took a step back, surprised.

Hak closed his eyes, as if trying to calm himself down. "Are you drunk? That's going too far, even for a joke."

Soo-Won's expression never changed, "Ask Princess Yona, she confirmed the king's death with her own eyes." Yona's face darkened, but Daiki was semi-impressed that she was bursting into tears about her father's death like he thought she would.

Hak had an absolutely furious and shocked expression as he ran towards Soo-Won like lightning, but Soo-Won somehow was able to block his shot.

"Tell the truth!" Hak demanded.

"I'm not lying." said Soo-won but Daiki could slightly detect a slight struggle in his voice.

"Soo-Won! You're telling me you killed your king? You killed our kind king?!" Soo-won struggled as Hak's strength appeared to be stronger. He jumped back before he could get sliced.

"Lord Soo-Won!" Kye-Sook said, obviously wanting to help. "Stay back. If you get any closer you'll lose a head. The man standing before you is Son-Hak." Hak went back into battle position as Kye-sook had a shocked expression.

"This man is..." started Kye-Sook with slight disbelief, "Yes. He is the heart of Hiryuu Castle, and one of the five generals..." Soo-won continued, not breaking any eye-contact from the said person.

"The Thunder Beast of Kouka." Kye-sook finished off.

"Soo-Won, why? Are you trying to usurp the throne?" Hak asked, stating his thinking, Daiki was watching all this still on the roof, completely relaxed now. No one's in danger (well he only cared about the princess and maybe Hak.), and the drama is enjoyable.

Hak continued "No, you're not the type to fixate yourself on that kind of thing. Did you turn your sword on our kind king, who detested weapons? Your pride allowed that?!"

Daiki notice Soo-won mentally flinch ever so slightly, "Kindness..." Soo-won muttered, not looking at Hak, but faced him with hardcore determination.

"This kingdom has no need for a weak king!"

Soo-Won attacked Hak and they began to have a fight with impressive sword skills, Daiki was half-impressed.

"Son-hak, grandson of Son Mudok, leader of the Wind tribe. He rose to lead the tribe at a young age. A single blow from his blade is like lightning, earning him the nickname, 'The Thunder Beast of Kouka." Kye-sook identified, then he smirked and looked at a soldier standing next to him.

Daiki did not notice this. But he did notice it when Hak was able to slice Soo-Won's shoulders. Soo-won grabbed his wound in pain and jumped back, still a look of determination and coldness in his eyes.

When Hak sliced Soo-Won's shoulders, tears streamed out of Yona's eyes again, despite all that has happened, she couldn't stop her feelings for Soo-won, and that would be her greatest strength and weakness in the future.

She did not see a soldier creeping up behind her.

Despite his injured shoulder, Soo-won kept fighting equally to Hak, or maybe Hak was still holding back. Hak saw an opening and was about to stab his monstrous spear though Soo-Won when Kye-Sook suddenly shouted, "That's enough!"

Hak and Soo-Won stopped, the spear-wielding general could see that Soo-won didn't know why his servant stopped them.

Soo-won turned to see Kye-Sook give him a smug smirk, then realization hit him and he looked at the person he betrayed the most.

Hak realized it too and looked behind in shock to see a soldier holding a sword not far from the crying Yona. The 'Thunder Beast' eyes showed that he was thinking greatly and trying to catch up on all that has happened.

Up on the rooftop, Daiki curled his fists. How had he been so foolish to not see the soldier creep up from behind Yona, she was his first priority, right?

His only reason born was to serve his master (or in this case mistress). Honestly, if he thought about it, the Dragon's destiny is rather sad. He wouldn't be surprised if one of his half-brothers were trying to escape their fate.

Daiki loved Yona, she was like the younger sister he never had, despite being the same age (Well, Yona is only a little older). He sighed. It was all too confusing, with the dragon blood interfering with all his thoughts, and it's always fate who controls everything.

'Well, I suppose that's not the biggest problem right now.' thought Daiki as he looked back to Hak who was surrounded by spears and his own spear on the ground.

"Soo-won." Hak addressed slowly, his eyes behind his bangs, as he slightly lowered his head.

"Was the Soo-Won I saw just an illusion? I thought I could in trust you with the princess." Kye-Sook interrupted Hak and Daiki's disliking towards this guy was growing bigger by the second, "Fool. You may be one of the five generals, but you are still young." He said with his smug smile.

"Nani?" asked Hak dangerously. Kye-Sook continued his smug explanation "At this rate, the Kingdom of Kouka will fall into ruin before long. For you and Princess Yona, who have indulged in peace at Castle Hiryuu, there is no way to imagine Lord Soo-won's feelings-"

"Quiet, Kye-Sook." Soo-Won ordered, talking for the first time in a while.

"What does that mean?" Hak asked, still surrounded by spears. "The Soo-won you know never existed. Should anyone stand in my way, I will cut them down, no matter who he is."

Soo-won walked towards Hak with his sword in his hand, in a flash it was right in front of Hak, Yona had more tears streaming, 'I don't want to hear this....I don't want to hear any of this anymore...' Yona whimpered.

Soo-won striked straight towards Hak's neck.

"Noooo!!!!!" Yona cried closing her eyes.

She heard a sharp noise, then a clang. She opened her eyes with tears, expecting to see one of her best friends, dead, head rolling on the ground.

...But that wasn't it at all. There, in front of her was Soo-Won's sword on the ground, everyone with widened eyes, there, standing in front of Soo-won, being the barrier between him and Hak....

Was Daiki.
