This Never Happened
Hiya. This is mangareader90 updating because SAM NEEDS TO SLEEP and she refuses to do so until I update. So, hope you like this.
I let out an annoyed sigh as I quickly skimmed Shiro's text. I looked to my right to see Karin sitting boredly next to me, an irritated expression on her face. Why is she irritated? Does she know where Sam is?
"Manga, dear, please pay attention," Mrs.Shanks requested. I blushed a little, embarrassed.
"Sorry Mrs.Shanks, but I've already read this book before. It's a great book, really it is. One of my favorites to be honest," I told her, smiling sheepishly.
"Oh, you've read The Perks of Being a Wallflower before? What did you think of the book?" Mrs.Shanks asked, a hint of glee in her voice. It was her favorite book.
"The plotline was stupendous, the characters were relatable, the problems they faced were very heartbreaking, but while you wanted to say you'd react differently, you don't reall know. It gets you thinking about life itself and what it is like to others, and the ending leaves you wanting to know more, but knowing that it's perfect the way it is because while it's not a finished ending, it's representative to how life truly is. Only you will know how your life ends, others won't," I finished my brief thoughts on the book. I had more to talk about, but I didn't want to give anything away.
"My thoughts exactly. And that ending, incredibly escalated, am I right?" Mrs.Shanks asked, smiling. I nodded.
"I definitely never saw it coming," I admitted.
"Do you own the book or rent it?"
"I own it."
"Do you mind answering the more thought provoking questions?"
"Not really, no. I'd rather like to do that."
"Honors English is truly your strongpoint, dear."
"English always has been Mrs.Shanks. I'm actually trying to write my own book..."
"When you do that, let me read it," Mrs.Shanks smiled at me before resuming the class again. Honors English was just another word for College Enlgish. It's the same time period for regular classes, but the homework is worse. Not hard, but busy.
Karin looked apathetic to the topic and I don't know why, but I felt as if I needed to ask her what she did before this class period. The clock showed ten minutes before we were able to leave. My next period is Calculus with Mr.Asuma, so I think I'll be able to skip a few minutes of that class time. He, like Kakashi, doesn't like doing much on the first day. We'll still have homework, but it won't be anything hard.
"Psst, Manga," Shikimaru was poking me in the back of my head with the butt of his pencil. I waited until Mrs.Shanks was distracted before turning around.
"Dude. Are you trying to get us in trouble?" I whispered. He shrugged in response.
"You have Asuma next period?" Shikimaru asked. I nodded.
"After this class period give me your bag and I'll have you sit next to me and Chouji," Shikimaru instructed and I raised an eyebrow.
"Two questions. One, what about Ino? Two, why give you my bag?" I asked. I wasn't surprised Chouji was in Calculus, he was pretty good at math. He says he uses it daily in his life, especially when cooking food. I don't question it.
"Ino is in Pre-Calculus and I saw you taking glances at Karin. Something happen with her and Sam?" Shikimaru asked. Before I could respond, the bell rand. He sighed, standing up and grabbing my bag and books. "Tell me what happened later. I'll tell Asuma you're doing something, before going into the classroom get a pass from Tsunade so you won't be counted tardy."
As Shikimaru walked away I smiled. Shikimaru was pretty easy to get along with. Temari and him were cute together too. He just needs to freaking ask her out.
I approached Karin before she could leave the room. She looked annoyed when she saw me.
"Karin, I would like to speak with you in private for a while," I requested.
"Whatever, anything to get me out of going straight to my next class. It's so f***ing boring. Seriously, sometimes I wonder why they make us take the classes we have," Karin ranted, following me.
"It's required by state," I responded, walking towardsthe principals' office. It has a lot of rooms in it that are only used for meetings, which aren't going on currently.
"The state is f***ing stupid," Karin yawned.
"Manga, what can I do for you?" Tsunade asked, ignoring Karin's presence. They weren't on the best terms.
"I'd like to use one of your rooms for a few minutes, if I may," I told her and she dismissed me, with a wave of her hand.
"It's all yours. Take as long as you'd like," she looked down and went back to her paperwork, but I knew as soon as we left the room she would bring out a bottle of sake from her desk drawer or her mini-cooler.
"So what do you want anyways, nerd?" Karin asked, as she sat in the seat opposite of me, placing her feet onto the table.
"Please place your feet on the floor Karin, it's disrespectful. Also, I'd like to talk to you about Sam," I watched as she slowly placed her feet onto the floor, eyes narrowed.
"What about the b****?" Karin asked.
"Never call her that in my presence again. And it's come to my attention that she's not in her class right now and she needs to be. You wouldn't happen to know why, would you?" I asked. She looked slightly nervous, but quickly hid it.
"No, I don't know anything about it," Karin scoffed and I noticed how her eyes shifted some.
"Is that so?" I asked, my voice soft. She didn't respond and I sighed, walking to the door, shutting the blinds, and locking the door.
"What's going on here, an interrogation?" Karin asked, fear in her voice in replace of annoyance.
"Karin, I'm very tired. I have work today. I have homework to do. Answer me truthfully and nothing will get ugly," I promised.
"Whatever," she scoffed.
"Where is Sam? I know you know where she is, so tell me."
"You don't have any proof I did anything."
"No, I don't."
"Then you shouldn't go accussing me."
"Karin, why don't we talk about you for a minute?"
"What?"
"You are infatuated with the Uchihas, aren't you?"
"I'm in love with them."
"No. Love is shared between two people who have an understanding for each other so great that they do everything they can for that person's happiness and safety. It's not based upon their looks. That's infatuation."
"What about it?"
"Sam was getting in the way?"
"Always."
"You get angry?"
"Who doesn't?"
"Let me rephrase that, did you get angry at her today?"
"Yes."
"Please tell me what happened, in your eyes."
"I was flirting with Itachi, who seemed totally okay with it, when Sam intervened. I got angry and I told her that she was going to regret it. I think she secretly likes him."
"Why would Sam regret doing what she did?"
"Because I know people."
"Really? Or is it because you know how to, let me phrase this correcty, 'teach people a lesson'?"
"If you're implying that I did anything-"
"No, of course you didn't. You aren't cunning enough, brave enough, strong enough."
"Excuse me, I-"
"And you don't know where she is either, you're not of any use to me as of current."
"What-"
"I'm sorry for wasting your time," I got up, 'ready to leave' when she responded.
"I am cunning, brave, and strong enough! Sam is inside that one place they store those sport equipment stuff in. Me and my gang were teaching her not to f*** with me," Karin smirked at me and I smiled.
"Thank you Karin, you've helped me out immensely. I'm done here," I opened the blind and unlocked the door, getting ready to walk out.
"Wait a minute. What just happened?" Karin asked, confused.
"Just a little interrogation. Oh, and Karin, if you mess with Sam, Shiro, or any of my friends ever again....let's just say during school I'm unable to do anything, but outside of school it's free game. Hope you sleep well enough. I'll be watching you, act accordingly," I smiled before walking out, closing the door behind me.
"So what was that about?" Tsunade asked, taking a sip out of her bottle.
"Sam. Oh, that reminds me, may I have a pass?" I asked and she nodded.
"If you need to make a call..."
"Thanks," I walked out of the room momentarily, dialing Shiro's number. He picked up after the first ring.
"MANGA!!!"
"Hi Shiro. You find Sam in the storage equipment shed on the college campus yet?" I asked.
"....what."
"A little birdie told me she'd be there."
"F***."
"Yup, hurry up and get Sam to safety. One more period to go and later I have to work, so no pressure there."
"But...how did you...what did you do to Karin?"
"Nothing."
"Manga."
"I messed with her brain a little."
"She has a brain?"
"Sorry Shiro, I gotta go. Keep me posted on how Sam is doing!" I hung up the phone and walked back inside to find Tsunade putting her liquor away.
"Here ya go," Tsunade smiled at me as she handed me the pass and I returned it.
"Sorry about this."
"You're a good student, I'm not worried about you. Now get going, I'm going to visit you at work today. I don't feel like making food today."
"Please be sober."
"Oh shut up," I smiled at her request and I left, waving to Shizune as I did so. She was in the nurse's office.
I made it to Mr.Asuma's class and I sat where Shikimaru and Chouji were.
"Homework is on the board, Manga," Mr.Asuma told me, reading from his magazine. I got up, gave him the pass, and returned to my seat.
"Oh good, it's just vocabulary," I sighed in relief.
"We don't get our books until tomorrow," Chouji informed.
"So what happened?" Shikimaru asked.
I explained everything while I did my homework from my other classes. I really hope Sam and Shiro both are okay.
