(A/N: "Mmmm... That is quite the interesting picture, hmm? Also, we hit 10k reads baby!!")
EPILOGUE
Two months had went by since the Empire's fall and the rebuild of the New Empire. Despite Night Raid's name being kept out of the history books, the names of the ones who made their sacrifices were scribbled into the large memorial in the center of the New Kingdom. Kneeling before said memorial was the Vampiric Demonic couple of Dairoku and Akame along with their lovely adopted daughter, Air. Besides the names of many Revolutionists that gave their lives for the new empire, the names that were most prominent were those of Night Raid and of even those who were misguided such as those from the Elite Seven apart of Dairoku an Akame's request to Najenda. They firmly believed that if they were still around, Guy, Cornelia, Najasho, Poney, Green, Gin, Natala and Pyro would have defected considering Kurome was granted her redemption. The names of the former Jaeger, Run was also inscribed onto the memorial as he was never a bad person. In fact, all he wanted to do was change the country for the better, so he attempted to change it from the inside.
And not to forget, the former Night Raid members who had gave their lives were also there; Sheele, Bulat, Susanoo, Leone, Artoria and Kuraime.. And Akaruime's name was also there as her name deserved to not be forgotten. If both sisters were to have survived, no doubt they'd have the same happy ending Akame and Kurome had.
Every month Dairoku and Akame would visit the memorial to remember all of his friends who gave their lives for the Empire's Future, both Elite Seven and Night Raid. But there was also a special name at the memorial. Najenda, showing how much she cared for her subordinates and knowing how much she meant to Dairoku, also placed his deceased sister's name, Tsukushi. It wasn't at the memorial, but she was given a proper grave amongst all of the others. Dairoku was eternally grateful to his former boss just from this.
Dairoku: "Everyone... Thank you..."
Standing up, with an large red and black umbrella over his head thanks to his girlfriend, Dairoku over the few months, appearance wise had changed a bit. Most noticeably, were the black curled demon horns on the side of his head, the many faint black markings that look like scars on his skin and of course, his left eye. It was now permanently the golden clock and would tick every now and then. It didn't signify his time in a battle, but it would tick to signify how much time he has left until he needs to refurnish his life force by drinking blood.
Akame's appearance had also altered. Upon using Ketsuekime's Trump Card, she had remained in her Starchasm Nyx state. The Flame shaped markings on her skin had faded into scars like with Dairoku. Most noticeably however were the small red horns popping out of her forehead. This showed that she was also becoming a Demon like Dairoku has.
Air: "Papa." He glanced down as the young pink-haired girl hugged him. "They'll be proud of you and mama."
Dairoku: *smiles* "Yeah... I know, Shortcake." He said chuckling as he picked her up and began spinning her around. The pink-haired girl giggled and held her hands out like an airplane.
Next to them, the ravenette smiled, mainly from just seeing her boyfriend smiling again. His smiles were rarer now a days, but ever since settling down with her and Air, he was beginning to show more of his smiles. Over the sound of the pouring rain around them, Akame then thought back to this morning. She had felt a bit sick in the morning and ended up throwing up in the bathroom, which rose suspicions in both her and Athena's head. So she decided to take a test and with the results now in her hand, she turned to her boyfriend.
Akame: "Darling?" Putting his daughter down, he looked to the ravenette and turned to face her.
Dairoku: "What's up?"
Akame: "I have something to tell you.." The male Vampire rose an eyebrow and watched as she slipped her left hand into her short dress' pocket before she pulled out a Pregnancy Test and displayed on the screen, was two red lines. "I'm Pregnant."
Both Dairoku and Air's eyes widened in shock as Akame scratched the back of her head nervously. She was honestly quite fearful of the reaction her boyfriend would give her but what she didn't expect was for him to hug her tightly before pushing his lips against hers. A surprised squeak escaped the Ravenette before she closed her eyes and returned the gesture, with her arms wrapping around his neck. A few seconds went by before they gently pulled apart from the kiss and for the first time in a few months, Akame saw an extremely happy and warm smile plastered on the male Vampire's face.
Dairoku: "This... is the best gift I could ask for."
Akame: *giggles* "That smile.."
Dairoku: "You're the one that brought it on my face... Thank you Akame. We'll raise it together, like we did with Air."
Akame: "Yes.. We will." The two touched foreheads while their eyes closed gently.
Air: "Wait! I'm gonna be a big sister!?" The couple looked down at her, both exchanging small chuckles.
Akame: "Yes, dear." A squeal of excitement escaped the young girl as she jumped up and down one place.
Air: "I'm gonna be a big sister! I'm gonna be a big sister!!" Akame giggled in amusement and happiness to see so much joy plastered over her adopted daughter's face.
Dairoku: "Well then, I guess I have no choice now huh?"
The ravenette rose an eyebrow in confusion and turned to look at him, only for her to gasp in surprise and stumble back slightly, seeing him get onto one knee. Gently taking her hand, he looked up at her while Air squeaked in excitement as she knew what was going to happen.
Dairoku: "From the moment we met inside of that forest, it was honestly love at first sight. Though, as I saw your motives, I knew that you wouldn't have time for relationships. Even though I knew you didn't like me back, I didn't let that affect my friendship with you, Akame. I made sure I did everything in my power to get you and Kurome back together and to make sure you both survive. When Kuraime disappeared after fighting Merraid, I was in the darkest stage I had been back then... But you.. I never would have thought you'd become so guilty. You blamed yourself for not being able to save her, you couldn't look me in my eyes.."
It was true. When Kuraime disappeared after her fight against Merraid, Akame blamed herself heavily. She actually stopped eating for a while and she hated herself. She thought Dairoku and Akaruime would hate her too. But, Dairoku had managed to snap her out of it and assure her that if Kuraime did it willingly, then it was what she wanted and no one was to blame.
Dairoku: "But, even after that, I never seen someone so determined to better herself. You promised me that you'd do better, you promised everyone. And you lived up to that promise. Our time in Night Raid started off amazingly... then became quite rocky after DEATH's influence began to affect me... I thought you would leave me and I wouldn't have blamed you if you did... Instead, you stuck by my side till the bitter end.. Even when I became your worst enemy, you fought to bring me back. I simply cannot put into words how much I love you, Akame... and if I wasn't sure about it before, I definitely am now..."
Reaching into his coat's pocket, he pulled out a ring. The main band was a shiny silver and looked like a plant stem of the sort from the silver leaves sticking out. And in the center of it all, was a ruby red diamond, the same color as her own eyes.
Dairoku: "My dear, Akame... My one and only... Will you marry me?"
Those words, 'will you marry me'... It was something that Akame longed to hear. Ever since she committed her entire soul to Dairoku, she hoped that after the war was over, the two could settle down, get married and have many children. And her wish... had finally come true. Without any form of hesitation and with droplets of tears falling down her eyes, she nodded her head in enthusiasm and excitement.
Akame: "Yes, yes! I'll marry you!"
A laugh of joy escaped Dairoku's mouth as carefully, he slid the ring onto her left hand's wedding finger. A squeal of excitement escaped the elated Akame's mouth as she looked at the ring, with tears of joy falling down her eyes before she leaped into his arms and hugged him tightly.
Akame: "I love you so much, Dairoku..."
Dairoku: "I love you too, Akame... Let us have a happy life together."
Akame: "Yes, let's... Till Death do us Apart."
Dairoku: "Till Death do us Apart."
With Air cheering and clapping in excitement, the now engaged couple locked their lips together, engaging into a passionate and lovely kiss. It had happened, their dreams had achieved, to become true lovers by getting engaged and having a biological child.
At this point... Nothing could go wrong.
4 Months Later...
*Beep* Beep* Beep*
The sound of the medical equipment rang out through the hospital room. But it wasn't the only sound in the room... Sobbing, from both Akame and Air. The young girl clutched onto her father, Dairoku who sat by his fiancé in silence as his hair covered his eyes while Athena stood next to him, her hands crossed in a somber silence. Akame was holding onto a particular shape in her arms, as if she was holding onto it for dear life...
It was a baby, but there was no pulse. In fact, what was there, were black flame markings all over its skin, which represented Ketsuekime's curse. Akame had lost her baby, due to the curse running through her body, it affected her child as well and ended in its passing...
Outside of the room was Kurome, Wave, Lubbock, Lauren, Artemis, Najenda, Levi, Mira, Lieselotte, Selina, Chelsea and Mine, while Tatsumi was outside of the hospital, due to him being a dragon. They all were informed of Akame's pregnancy and all came to witness her giving birth... only for them to be hit with the reality, that the baby didn't make it...
Kurome held onto her boyfriend, releasing sobs into his chest with Lauren standing next to her and Artemis holding her 7 month old son Ran, named after Run of course. Lauren looked towards the Golden Dragon Empress, sending a silent signal to her to exit with Ran. To her, she would just feel like an absolute jerk if Akame was to see her son in this time. If she was, she'd probably just break more than she already had. Najenda sighed in sadness as she slipped her hands into her coat pockets while Lubbock gritted his teeth in sadness. Mira had tears running down her eyes while Levi just pulled her ninja mask over her mouth and glanced away somberly. Selina was crying softly as she embraced her elder sister Lieselotte, who held her closely to sooth her. Chelsea and Mine were both releasing quiet sniffles of sadness as they leaned against each other to support each other. Outside, Tatsumi sat with his son and daughter, Bulat and Rai respectively that Mine gave birth too, on his dragon back playing. Even though he wasn't inside of the hospital, he could just tell from hearing Akame's loud crying. A sigh escaped his mouth as he looked down somberly...
2 Months Later...
Making his way out of a forest and to a beach with a large boat floating by the shore, was Dairoku. On his hip was Excalibur, sheathed in its scabbard Avalon. But in his hand was a particular Teigu; Rongo Rongo and on his back was the remains of Ketsuekime, while on around his neck, he had created a necklace using the Skull and Cross-Bone charm that was on the hilt of Yoake before it was destroyed.
His plan was to look for an island nation that was written about in the Teigu book. According to Rongo Rongo, Murasame's origins laid in that Island Nation, but not only that, but all of the Zodiacs DEATH created were said to originate from that Island Nation, such as Ketsuekime and Yoake. His only hope was to find a cure for Akame, so that she would stop blaming herself for the death of their first biological child.
(Flashback)
Lubbock: "You know how fucking hard it was to get Najenda to let this go?" He said as he held up the Teigu, The Complete Book of the World—Rongo Rongo. In front of him was Dairoku, who had his arms crossed.
Dairoku: "Quit whining would you? You got it done." He said taking the Teigu from the green haired pervert who only grumbled before he looked at him.
Lubbock: "You sure you wanna go off on your own? What about Akame?"
Dairoku: "... She blames herself heavily for what happened... I hate seeing her like that. The last time she blamed herself for something, she stopped eating for an entire week... I can't live to see her like that.. So I'm gonna do whatever I can, to release her of this curse. Then we'll have a kid again, until she's back to normal. That is my promise."
Lubbock: "You're either the most selfless guy I know, or the biggest dumbass." The vampire said nothing as he just faced away from him. Sighing, the green-haired male approached him and patted his back. "Hey, don't be to hard on yourself man. Just don't end up killing yourself from this... Cause even if your dead, Akame will haunt you."
That gave the two males a slight chuckle.
Dairoku: *chuckles* "Yeah... Thanks Lubo. You may have been a pervert and an idiot... but you were a really cool brother."
Lubbock: "Ah, shucks. Stop it with the flattery."
(End of Flashback)
A small chuckle escaped Dairoku's lips before he faced the large boat. He began to approach it, taking a deep breath in the process.
???: "And where do you think you're going?" He froze for a moment before sighing deeply. He knew that voice anywhere, and it was the one voice he didn't want to hear in this particular tone..
Athena: "Sorry Partner, she was determined."
Dairoku: *sigh* "No.. It's alright. I knew this was going to happen..."
Turning around, he was immediately bet with the sight of Akame, a scarf around her neck and her crimson trench coat on. Her hands were crossed as on her hip was her new katana, Mikazukihana and on her back was Kuraime's upgraded Shingu, Kizushinrel and her expression displayed disappointment.
Dairoku: "Akame, I...-" *Slap* A simple slap to his face caused him to shut up immediately.
Akame: "You idiot...You're just going to leave, without even saying goodbye...?"
Dairoku: "I... have no excuse..." He simply said as he looked away. A sigh escaped the ravenette's mouth before she leaned up and cupped his cheeks before planting a gentle kiss on his lips, taking him by surprise. Soon, she broke it and hugged him tightly.
Akame: "I know what you're going to do... and, I'm sorry for letting this all get to my head.."
Dairoku: "You don't have to be sorry... You had every right to be upset after losing our baby... But what you didn't have the right to do, was blame yourself. It was neither of our fault. Neither of us knew that this would happen. We have to live with it and push forwards."
Akame: "Agreed... And that's why, I'm going with you to this island nation. We did everything together as partners, as best friends... as lovers.. and we'll do this again, together... We did promise each other, Till Death do us Apart.."
Dairoku: "Right... Till Death do us Apart.."
???: "I'm going too!" The Vampires looked to their left to see Air, who had a small backpack on and behind her was Chelsea and Lieselotte.
Dairoku: "You girls..."
Akame: "Air, no. It's too-"
Air: "Mama, please! I don't want to be away from you and papa again.. Besides, you guys have done all the work over the past years. I want to make a contribution, especially for you two helping me. So please, let me come with you!" The two fiancés looked at each other in silence before Lieselotte broke the silence.
Lieselotte: "Ye gotta hand it to her, the girl's got a heart."
Dairoku: "Why are you two here?"
Chelsea: "Seriously? You two are trying to do everything by yourselves. It's always better to have assistance." She gave the two a smirk while the witch demon winked at them. Air just stared at them determined however. The two vampires looked at each other before they both sighed and smiled.
Akame: "Well it seems as if we don't have much of a choice now, do we?"
Dairoku: "As they say, the more the merrier."
(A/N: "Qrow? Is that you?")
They all shared a smile and a small chuckle before they began to approach the large ship.
Lieselotte: "So what's the name of the place we'll be heading to?"
Dairoku: "Jinwa. That's the name of the Island where Murasame, and any Zodiac DEATH created originated from."
Athena: "Ah yes, I've heard of that place."
Chelsea: "'Jinwa'? The fu-OW!" She yelped as Dairoku karate chopped her head.
Dairoku: "Silence, Shrimp."
Chelsea: *deadpans* "Hey... Since when did you care about that?"
Dairoku: "You're gonna swear in front of my daughter?"
Chelsea: "She's 15..."
Dairoku: "Too young."
Air: "Papa! I'm old enough!"
Dairoku: "Shortcake, please. Let the adults do the talking."
Chelsea: "Hah! Some adult you are, 'Death's Harbinger'!"
Dairoku: *growls* "Bastard!" He lunged at her, with the auburn haired girl yelping in surprise as he put her into a head lock and began to rub her head with his knuckles.
Chelsea: "Gah!! Let go you damn Blood Sucker!!"
Dairoku: "Say Uncle, you damn Oarburgh!!"
Air, Athena and Lieselotte burst out into laugher at the scene while Akame smiled, releasing a small giggle. Moments like these, were what kept her spirits up. Soon, the team of Dairoku, Akame, Air, Lieselotte and Chelsea departed from the country on the ship. With the Empire at peace, there was no need for Assassins anymore.
Now they set off towards their new destination; the Island, Jinwa.
Meanwhile...
???: "Mother..."
A young woman with slightly darkened skin and long raven-black hair kneeled before what looked like some shrine, within a small cottage. The most noticeable feature about her, was the Skull and Cross-Bone charm that hung from the necklace around her neck. Slowly she opened her eyes, revealing them to be a golden color as she slowly rose to her feet, a particular katana by her side before she glanced out of the window, into the sea.
???: "Why does it feel like... A Storm is Approaching...?"
