CHAPTER 27: KILL THE DEMON part 1

Borick: "My... I've been feeling threatened recently, so I asked the minister to send reinforcements skilled in combat, but to think that Esdeath said to be the strongest in the Empire, would come... There is nothing more reassuring than this!"

The man named, Borick sat on his throne-like chair within the party the Jaegers were attending, with a few women by his side, performing less than holy acts on him while he just sat there, enjoying the show. In front of him, were the remaining Jaegers, who all looked on with mixed expressions.

Borick: "There are only my loyal subordinates at this party. So please, feel free to enjoy yourselves."

Esdeath: "We were tasked by the minister with guarding you.. We'll be borrowing a few of your rooms."

Borick: "Of course! Fufu... I doubt you will be bored at my mansion." He gestured to the posing women next to him, which caused Lauren to cringe a bit

Esdeath: "I have no interest in all those... But, I would quite like to meet those who are spying on us from above the ceiling." Alerted, the other Jaegers looked up while Borick just chuckled.

Borick: "As expected, you had noticed them." He snapped his fingers, causing five figures to drop down from the ceiling, two males and three females. "I was lent this lot from the empire in order to control the church. The very picture of violence, The Five Kouken Temple Rakshasa Demons!"

Starting from the left, the white haired man with the eye markings crouching down, was Ibara. Next to him was the black haired woman, Suzuka. The tallest amongst the group, the buffed man with the bushy beard was, Sten. She shortest of the five, the caramel skinned young girl and the daughter of the deceased, Gozuki, Mez. And finally, the blonde twin pony tailed girl wearing the tight and revealing black outfit, Lieselotte.

Esdeath: "Oho. Here I was wondering why I hadn't seen them in the capital. So they were here."

Borick: "Now that you are here, General, these demons that I had been using solely for protection can be devoted to offence."

Seryu: "P-Please wait!" Everyone turned their attention to the auburn haired girl. "There is a possibility that an evil Teigu/Zodiac-using team named Night Raid has infiltrated this town. If you are to fight them, you must have Teigu or Zodiacs...!" However, a chill went straight down her spine as Ibara suddenly appeared behind her, his hand right against the back of her neck.

Ibara: "There's no need to worry about it. We've defeated Teigu users before with our bare hands, just like this."

Seryu: "Just when did you..."

Ibara: "Heh heh... Your spirit's crazy, but you should probably cool your mind a bit."

Suzuka: "Actually, we have already retrieved and presented Five Teigus plus One Zodiac to the minister..."

Sten: "Teigus and Zodiacs may be strong, but their users are naught but human."

Mez: "Which means that there are countless ways to win against them, right?" Seryu just remained quiet, grunting lowly.

Borick: "The Five Rakshasa Demons are executioners employed by the Minister. As you would expect, their skill is quiet impressive. But recently, their fighting strength was massively increased thanks to them gaining an upgrade, right Lieselotte?" Everyone looked towards the blonde girl, who just hummed as she threw some form of charm in her hand before catching it and presenting it to them.

Lieselotte: "Fufu...~ Honestly I wanted to turn down this offer, considering I can easily take on a Teigu or Zodiac user, but new powers is always welcomes, especially when their magic~" She smirked and winked at them as she pocketed the charm. "Oh I bet my dear little sister would be jealous to find out that I obtained this Zodiac she wanted~"

Ibara: "Heh, heh. That's how it is. You people should just sit back and drink wine inside this mansion-" However, he immediately shut his mouth as Esdeath stood behind him, an icy dagger pointed to his neck.

Esdeath: "Regardless of your achievements, you shouldn't let your guard down."

Ibara: "Huuuh, amazing. As expected of General Esdeath. You're gonna make me fall for you."

Wave: "That surprised me..." He said in shock, looking at the five demons before he noticed heavy breathing from the green eyed assassin next to him, who had her neck wrapped in bandages from the wound Chelsea gave her. "Hey, are you feeling alright, Akaruime??"

Akaruime: "Do I... really look that bad..?" She looked up at him.

Wave: "Yeah... Pretty bad..." Seeing this, she patted her cheeks and shook her head before looking back at him with a small smile.

Akaruime: "I'll take care, thanks." Wave just responded to her with a worried expression, but Kurome, was more worried for her.

(Flashback)

A few days ago, shortly after Akaruime and Kurome met up with the rest of the Jaegers the town of Romari, Wave held an unconscious and barely surviving Akaruime in his arms.

Wave: "Shit! If I had come here sooner...!! Bols is dead and he had a wife and kid... Just what am I supposed to tell them...!?" Kurome remained silent as a shadow lingered over her eyes while Run placed a reassuring hand on Wave's shoulder.

Run: "But, you were blown away because you were protecting both Kurome and Akaruime, right? The Captain agrees that you are free of blame for this incident. I understand how you feel, but calm down!" But the Grand Chariot wearer, just snapped at him.

Wave: "You understand you say..!? Don't say it so lightly!" Lauren was about to step in before...

Run: "No. I am definitely not saying it lightheartedly. I understand well, Wave. From the bottom of my heart..."

He rested his hand against his chest, showing his sincerity but for Lauren, it showed something more... personal to the two of them.

Lauren: "Run..."

Run: "Anyways, let us carry Akaruime to shelter. We will talk then." With Wave picking up Akaruime, the group began to walk away from the area, only for Lauren to noticed Kurome still standing.

Lauren: "Kurome?"

Kurome: "O-Oh.. Huh?" She was snapped out of her trance and looked at her.

Lauren: "Are you okay?"

Kurome: "... Y-Yeah. I am." She nodded with a smile before she began walking with them. But she couldn't stop thinking about that moment. She slowly touched her lips as she looked down. *thoughts* "Dairoku... But... if you and Onee-San are together... I'll have to fight harder then...!"

Esdeath entered the room, wearing a surgeon outfit and clear gloves on her hands where the other Jaegers were with the unconscious Akaruime.

Esdeath: "How's Akaruime?"

Lauren: "She's still sleeping."

Run: "The doctor says that if she's lasted this long, then her life should not be in danger.

Esdeath: "I see..." She then held up the severed arm from Chelsea. "I inspected this arm of the assassin that she fought. From the way the muscles look, it's obvious that they were a professional assassin, but that's all we know. You could say that the lack of evidence is because of her being a pro."

Seryu: "Well, can I feed whatever was taken off of the evil person to Koro for now?"

Esdeath: "Yeah." She said as she tossed the arm to her. "Also, we just received a mission from the Minister from an express messenger. We leave for Kyoroch. It seems that the target we are to guard may be the target of Night Raid's journey."

Run: "So they beat us down during their trip... But that target was their true objective."

Esdeath: "In this battle, I was done in by Najenda..." She mumbled as she leaned against the door and held her face as her expression turned into a vengeful one. "But I will not fall for the same trick twice... We WILL trample them for sure in Kyoroch."

Akaruime: "Hup Two!" She said as she suddenly sat up wide awake, taking Wave and Lauren by surprise. She opened and closed her hand while humming before she smiled and flexed a bit. "Mm! I rested a bit, so I'm all better now. I've recovered quite a bit."

Lauren: "Woah... That's impressive..."

Wave: "No way! Weren't you hit in the vitals!?" Instead of answering, she stood up on the bed and looked to Esdeath, who had a stern look on her face.

Akaruime: "Captain. Please let me continue to work with you." She smiled while the ice haired general remained stoic before suddenly, a powerful kick was sent in the assassin's way. However, Akaruime easily blocked it with little to no issue. "As you can see, I can still fight."

Esdeath: *smirks* "So be it. As long as you're coming with us, I'll have you work your fill. We leave in thirty minutes." While Wave retained his blown away expression, Kurome just looked at her, her eyes showing full worry as her partner sighed a bit heavily.

But, it turned that her worries were justified as not long after putting on her uniform, Akaruime collapsed to her knees, while barely supporting herself with Himitsume

Kurome: "Akaruime!" She bolted towards her, crouching down to her side while she was panting heavily.

Akaruime: "A-Ah..."

Wave: "Hey, Akaruime!? Get it together!" He yelled as he entered the room and ran over to the two girls.

Akaruime: "I-I'm o... kay..."

Wave: "I knew that it wasn't possible! The captain..." He was about to get up before the green eyed assassin stopped him.

Akaruime: "...Wait... Those in the assassin squad... if it's decided that they can't fight, then to keep them quiet, they're disposed of." Wave's eyes widened in shock as Kurome just looked away.

Wave: "Wha...!?"

Akaruime: "If I'm kicked out of the Jaegers and sent back to the capital, I'll be..."

Wave: "It'll be okay! If you tell the Captain, she'll protect you!"

Akaruime: "...That's not good. I have to fight. I don't want to be exposed of! I wasn't born into this world to die like that!" She yelled, catching him by surprise before she slowly began to stand again. "If' I'm going to die, I'm going to die fighting... Just like how my friends did..." she shot him a fake smile

Wave: "Akaruime..."

Akaruime: "Hm? I'm alright now, Wave. I'm sorry for making you worry. You too Kurome." She fake smiled at her best friend, who only looked in worried, but sighed and faked a smile back. "If the wounds heal, I'll be completely fine."

While Wave's worried expression slowly turned to one of determination, Kurome just stared at her best friend before suddenly hugging her. Akaruime yelped a bit in surprise, but smiled and giggled as she hugged her back.

Kurome: *whispering* "Idiot... You better not push yourself..."

Akaruime: *whispering* "Don't worry, I won't."

In the outskirts of Kyoroch, more specifically in a gave yard, two of the Revolutionary Spies along were informing Akame, Dairoku, Kuraime and Levi about their findings.

Spy 1: "According to our data, there should be an underground passageway passing beneath the graveyard, which leads from the church to Borick's mansion."

Spy 2: "We think it may be good to station a few men here while carrying out the assassination."

Dairoku: "Hmm... We could probably use this passage way to our advantage."

Akame: "If we could find out the location of the passageway's entrance, we could go to Borick's mansion's basement that way." She deciphered as she munched on a drumstick, her purple eyed partner doing the same.

Spy 1: "It would be difficult to fine. After all, the graveyard is quite spacious."

Akame and Kuraime: *derp face* "Hmm..."

(A/N: "I love that face. She just doesn't give two shits on the outside 🤣")

Spy 2: "There is also the possibility of traps within the passageway."

Levi: "Don't sweat it. I'll find it easily and call out any booby traps in there."

However, The scarlet eyed ravenette realized that a certain vampire was more quiet than usual.

Akame: "Dairoku?"  The aforementioned vampire glanced at her in silence.  "Are you okay? You're extra quiet."

Dairoku: "I... I couldn't help but think about Mira and Chelsea... And Air... Mira's bound to a wheelchair and has to take care of herself, Chelsea and the base and Air, even though she left a few weeks ago, I can't help but think about her". The ravenette's response was to hug her mate's arm

Akame: "I know... But, I'm sure they're hanging strong. They have to. And we'll see Air again. I promise."  Dairoku looked at her, smiling a bit as he nodded in silence and he pat her head. However, their peaceful talk was soon interrupted by feathers flying straight at them. Being the firsts to notice, Dairoku and Levi countered them, with a streak of flames and red energy strikes respectively.

Levi: "Oh, oh an angel."

Dairoku: "More like a Fallen Angel than anything..." He commented as the two gluttons dropped their drumsticks.

Run: "After checking on a hunch, you all are definitely assassins of Night Raid." It was obvious that this was the wielder of the Winged Teigu, Mastema, Run of the Jaegers. "Reconnaissance from the skies... It is certainly worth doing."

Kuraime: "Wait... Wings..."

Akame: "No mistaking... That Teigu is..."

Dairoku: "Thousand-Mile Flight—Mastema..." Though it a familiar roar to Dairoku, caused his eyes to widen a bit as a glowing purple orb appeared next to Run, before shaping into a figure with glowing purple energy wings, holding dual bladed Boomerangs.

Lauren: "I told you it was a good idea, Run."

Run: "You certainly did, Lauren."

Levi: "And that's the Zodiac, Ripper of Realms—Rerumukattā, meaning..."

Akame: "You're both part of the Jaegers!"
