Spirit Entry 5: The Detention Commitee
Lonán gazed at the clouds that passed overhead, covering the sun before drifting away.
He glanced down at his wrist and flexed his hand.
'Healed...just like I predicted...'
"Chu..."
Zeru poked his head out of Lonán's collar, sniffing the air.
"Chu!"
"Mm. I can smell it too." The boy gazed up at the sky once more. "A storm's coming..."
~~
Currently, everyone was staring at Lonán, who was gazing blankly at the sky outside of the classroom.
The teacher had given up in giving the day's lesson when he found that nobody would pay attention; he sulked in a corner of the classroom.
Lonán felt the stares, but did nothing about them and ignored them, continuing to gaze out the window.
Suddenly, the speakers were turned on, and static was heard.
Everyone snapped out of their dazes and looked up at the speakers.
"Attention. This is the Detention Committee."
Instantly, everyone paled.
Noting their reactions, Lonán raised an eyebrow.
''Detention Committee', huh?'
"Kuroba Lonán, report to the Detention Committee room. This is not a request."
The speakers turned off.
Immediately, Lonán became the center of attention once more.
"Wah...he's in deep poop now..."
"Oh no! He's just a kid!"
"That Committee has no mercy..."
"Poor Kuroba-kun..."
Lonán ignored the whispers again before getting out if his seat; silence fell upon the class as they watched Lonán exit the room.
The boy slid the door open before closing it behind himself.
Once he did, the whispers started once more.
Lonán paused for a bit before starting to walk towards his destination.
'Things have gotten a little more interesting...'
~~
Lonán stuffed his hands in his pockets, flitting his gaze to the name tag on the side of the door.
'Here we are...'
The boy rapped his knuckles on the door.
"Come in."
The voice was cool and sharp, and would've made a grown man pee his pants...but Lonán was not the average person.
Lonán had to tippy-toe slightly to grab the door handle and slide it open.
Molten-silver clashed with icy-lavender.
A silver-haired teen sat at his office desk, one hand holding a pen while the other was fisted and propping his head up. The teen looked to be around a junior's age, wearing a black trench coat with a dark-purple undershirt beneath it.
Lonán stepped into the room and shut the door behind him.
Icy-lavender blinked once and studied Lonán quietly before speaking.
"Are you the rodent that is causing a ruckus at this school?"
Lonán cocked his head slightly.
''Rodent'?' "Apparently."
Whip. Thunk.
Lonán tilted his head in time to dodge the pen that the silver-haired teen was once holding before.
The raven blinked his eyes calmly and poked at the pen embedded to the wall.
"Are you angry? Then I apologize."
There was a low growl, and Lonán could detect anger and...amusement?
The teen stood up from his desk and walked around it, standing one foot away from Lonán, towering over the boy.
"Kuroba Lonán..."
The said boy merely tilted his head.
"That would be me....and you? I would like to know my Senpai's name."
The teen narrowed his icy-lavender eyes before speaking.
"Shika Katashi."
"Well then...nice to meet you, Shika-san..."
Clang!
Lonán tugged the pen out of the wall in time to block a tanto that was suddenly appeared in Katashi's hand.
Snap!
The pen in Lonán's hand shattered into plastic shards.
The raven-haired boy merely blinked before jumping backwards, avoiding the tanto that continued on its path to cut Lonán down.
Hopping off of the wall, Lonán sent a kick at Katashi's head.
Icy-lavender widened slightly before narrowing; he blocked the kick, and a smirk slowly started to appear on his face.
"Hoh?"
Lonán kept his stoic expression as he quickly retracted his leg and landed on the ground.
Out of nowhere, Lonán whipped out four senbon in each hand, causing Katashi to lower his stance out of instinct.
Briiiiiiiing!
The two ignored the bell, but they stopped making moves to attack each other.
Katashi was the first to get out of his fighting stance, sheathing his tanto at his hip, where Lonán spotted the scabbard.
"An interesting fight, avifauna."
Lonán raised an eyebrow, yet no other emotion appeared on his face.
"'A bird of territory'? Why the sudden change of name, Shika-san?"
Katashi merely smirked before quickly ruffling, Lonán's hair; Lonán gave a questioning look to the other.
"I felt like it." Katashi slowly returned to his desk. "And you have permission to call me Katashi, avifauna."
Lonán tilted his head before flicking both of his wrists in the air; the senbons disappeared.
"Hai, Katashi-senpai, and you can call me by my given name..."
Katashi merely grunted before grabbing a spare pen on his desk, continuing where he left off in his paperwork.
"Hm, get going. School has ended...Kuroba."
Lonán sighed mentally.
'It's a start, I guess.' "See you tomorrow, Katashi-senpai."
"Hn."
~~
"Oh~! Chibi-chan, you're back!"
In a shadowed part of a traditional Japanese room, a teen waved excitedly to Lonán; the boy nodded back and let a small smile appear on his face.
"Konichiwa, Glyn-onii-san."
"Hm~? You seem to be in a better mood than usual. Did something happen at school today?"
Lonán set his backpack down and slowly strolled over to the teen in the corner.
"I met an interesting fighter named Shika Katashi."
The teen shrouded in darkness tapped his chin thoughtfully.
"Shika...Katashi...? Oh! I heard rumors that the kid's a blood-thirsty fighter!"
"Hm...not quite. He's simply knows who and when to respect someone or something. All in all, he's almost like an overprotective animal of his territory."
Glyn snorted and chuckled.
"Pfft, I don't think Shika-san would like what you're saying about him."
Lonán settled a few meters away from the teen, crossing his legs.
"Also, I'm allowed to call Shika-san by his first name."
"Hoh~? How did you get him to like you, Chibi-chan?"
Lonán hummed quietly snapping his fingers; a golden flame danced at his fingertips.
"I fought with him for a few seconds. I suppose I gained his respect through my strength."
The raven-haired child touched the candle tips that were littering the ground, brightening the room up slightly.
"Glyn-onii-san, you're not a vampire, you know?"
Lonán glanced up, causing molten silver to meet glowing emerald.
The light revealed the teens face, sharp and narrowed. Similar raven locks covered the teen's head, although they were a bit more wavy than Lonán's. Adorning Glyn's body was a olive-green yukata.
"Yeah, yeah...but I like the darkness, Chibi-chan--the light hurts my eyes sometimes..."
"You're not getting headaches again, are you?"
The teen leaned over and ruffled Lonán's hair, grinning brightly.
"Naw. I simply had a few all-nighters..."
Lonán silently observed the other before speaking.
"More rogue spirits are appearing, huh?"
Glyn sighed.
"Mm-hm...."
"Should I help--?"
"NO! Just--not yet....."
Lonán blinked his silver eyes and continued to look at his elder brother stoically.
"You can't keep me from the battle forever."
Glyn flinched slightly, before sighing.
"Father won't approve..."
"I don't care. I only wish to protect my family."
Glyn chuckled at Lonán's blunt words, ruffling similar raven locks.
"I'm sure you do, Chibi-chan."
Lonán blinked before yawning softly; Glyn chuckled once more.
"Looks like you need some sleep. You still have a few months of school before Fall Break. Go to bed."
"Fine."
